4 out of 5 eggsGood workhorse CPU

Pros: I bought this chip back in 2010 for a previous system build, and it was quite fast when new. It will still hold its own even now, although it's starting to show its age. That might be because of the motherboard I was using with it, though.

Cons: Stock fan is very noisy, especially under load. Just replace it.

Other Thoughts: I still think this could be a decent CPU for gaming, but the typical motherboard that this chip would've be compatible with back in the day, will not really be up to snuff for 2014 technology.

Thankfully, it is compatible with newer AM3+ motherboards, so I think I'll get a new board in the future, and see what this CPU can still do.

5 out of 5 eggsChips are fantastic, has held up well

Pros: +Overclocks nicely
+Has easily handled everything I have thrown at it, including games from this year (2014)
+Stays relatively cool

Cons: The stock fan is horribly loud. I can hear my machine running from halfway up the steps that are at the other end of the hallway from the computer room.

Other Thoughts: I suggest gaming with headphones until you get a fan to replace the stock one

5 out of 5 eggsNice cpu

Pros: Clocked up to 4.5ghz at one point but kept it at 4.2 on air

Cons: Burned up at 4.5

Other Thoughts: I burnt it up at 4.5 with too much voltage but it was a great cpu over those years at 4.2 on a cooler master v8 but now im going back to intel

5 out of 5 eggsWorkhorse CPU

Pros: This CPU has handled everything thrown its way including Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, Reaper DAW, @home folding. Gaming wise it's been able to handle anything from the Batman series, CoD series, Skyrim, Mass Effect series, Borderlands 1 & 2, Civ 5, Left For Dead 1 & 2 and then some. I continue to use this CPU after 2 1/2 years at stock and overclocked speeds, currently running @4.2Ghz with no issues and proper cooling.

Cons: It runs hot with the stock fan and power consumption are the two biggest complaints I had with this CPU. At full load temps would reach anywhere from 60°C to 66°C. With proper cooling I rarely go above 55°C.

Other Thoughts: Current Setup:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz (O.C. @4.2Ghz)
x4 G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
x2 WD Black 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Corsair HX series HX650 650W
Cooler Master CM690 II
ASUS 570GTX

Soon I'll be replacing the CPU, one hard drive with an SSD and the graphics card which should provide me with another 2 or 3 years of solid use before any more major upgrades.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Reliable

Pros: Very overclockable, stable, fast, reliable.

Ive had this CPU overclocked at 4.1 GHz constantly for the past three years. (bought in 2010) Has been paired with a 6990 and has run every modern game (sans Crysis 3) on Ultra/Max. Tomb Raider looks especially delicious.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Behaves with windows 7/8 just fine. Grab an aftermarket cooler and go ham with the overclock. One of AMDs finest Id say

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Still going strong. Fast and reliable.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought the black unlocked edition without any intent on overclocking. This processor has always been so fast for my everyday tasks that overclocking doesn't cross my mind.

5 out of 5 eggsWorkhorse

Pros: I've been using this CPU since I built my system in December 2010 and it still handles everything I throw at it. Performance is rock solid, even on the stock fan. Plays Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 smoothly with settings on high (using a Radeon 7850).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'll probably upgrade when AMD releases a successor to Vishera, but I wouldn't be surprised if my trusty Phenom just keeps going and going to.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value, Powerful

Pros: The best value for a processor anywhere at the moment. Discontinued but still easily attainable. Works well with my MSI MOBO.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: If you can get one, there's nothing better that's cheaper.
