5 out of 5 eggsStill good after 2 years

Pros: Quad core is still relevant after 2 years. I don't do extreme gaming but it runs HD video playback/recording - simultaneously with no problems.
Sure the intel will perform better if you need the power but will also cost almost 2x.

Cons: This series of processor is not compatable with pci express 3.0. It is a little limiting now that I want to upgrade. If you are going to be doing serious 3D stuff in the future and need the pcie 3.0 bandwidth you should consider going with an i7.
I bought it 2 years ago when this was not an issue so I won't deduct an egg for it.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally upgraded, but this thing still gets it done

Pros: Reliable, consistent OC to 3.8ghz with Corsair H50 closed loop cooler. I rarely left it overclocked and ran at stock clocks and it stayed at 32c idle and I never saw the chip get past 60c. Pretty good for a 125w component.

Cons: I put the stock heatsink on a different build (3 core phenom II), not really a con, but the stock cooler reminds you why the aftermarket cooling market exists!

Other Thoughts: It has been almost three years so I just built a new rig based on Ivy Bridge. I paid 50 more for the new cpu than I did when I got the phenom, and the only real big improvement is in power draw. This Phenom was a great buy and still did everything I wanted it to when I replaced it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for buck

Pros: This is a great CPU for the dollar. I produce music and mix music as an engineer. I can technically get any work done that I need to. It's not the strongest CPU in the world, and not the end all be all. For very large projects it does leave some processing power to be desired. But.. you can always bounce down tracks to save CPU power. I can have plenty of VSTs runing at once without much issue. Obviously the audio interface's driver plays a big role in this but... the CPU allows a lot of audio to be processed before you start reaching it's limits. Just don't expect to add 5 Amplitube instances lol... but 2-3 is definitely okay. I have had this OC'ed at 3.8GHz for about 2-3 years with zero problems. I'm not a super computer tech, so I used the stock heatsink it came with and a $50 AsRock micro ATX board... no problems OC'ing to 3.8GHz. Anything over that however and the CPU would not boot to Windows... I got a scrambled screen.

Cons: It's not the super computer I thought it was going to be. However... the price I got it at and the value it brought to my studio leaves me to not feel this is a con.

OC'ed it to 3.8GHz... not sure if a better cooling system would help, however.. I read that this is the max for many other people who OC this chip.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II 955
AsRock micro ATX board
Radeon HD 5450
16GB 1333 RAM

5 out of 5 eggsA legend.

Pros: *How can a processor that's so 'old' rock so hard?
*Telling you of the OC potentials is redundant at this point

Cons: *High power usage

Other Thoughts: That was the only con I could come up with. The 955 BE has established itself into the halls of CPU legends. It continues to run just about everything I have wonderfully well. I intend to upgrade soon (since this was where my budget was cut, but wisely, because again-the value speaks for itself). AMD is unparallelled in price-performance, and I reckon this CPU will last far beyond its expected lifespan.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, Reliable, affordable!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: So happy I bought this CPU. Works phenomenal. It may not be top of the line but it works wonders for me. Have had no problems with it for 3 years running. I would recommend this to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: Fast processor, booted out of the box. Runs all apps and games with no problems. Got it for 85$ on a promo, cant beat it for the price. Performs better then i3 processors in my point of view, especially in gaming.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Use arctic silver thermal compound on the stock heatsink it will drop temperatures and work much cooler. AMD perfected this model.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU

Pros: Pros: This processor is super fast. I don't do any over clocking but it worked sweet right out of the box anyway. I added an aftermarket cooler due to other reviews saying it runs hot. I've never had any heat issues..
