5 out of 5 eggsbeast mode

Pros: It is a beast. I upgraded from a Pentium Dual E2160. Obviously the 1090T kills it. The only time the CPU is under full load is when Prime 95 is running. It doesn't think about doing anything, it just does it.

The stock cooler & fan work well. It idles at ambient (23C) and goes to 56C under load.

I like that it automatically decreases the voltage going to the CPU when at idle or browsing web pages. Nonetheless, it doesn't hesitate to adjust upward when needed.

Cons: The stock cooler fan is loud, too loud. That's when it is idle. When it speeds up during Prime 95, it sounds like an airplane engine. Thus, I'm in the market for a good, quiet heatsink / fan.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for one-hundred, seventy USD from the company named after a river. (out of stock at newegg) I got it in early January. One day later, it went up ten dollars. 3 days later, it went up fifty dollars on top of that!

I wanted to go AMD and I wasn't impressed by the Bulldozer, so I got this guy. I think this will suit my needs for the next five years.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal

Pros: I bought this back in 2011 when I decided to build a new rig from the ground up. The stock heat sink is a little less than adequate for gaming and high performance PC's so you might want to upgrade. This product delivers maximum performance at a fraction the cost of the competition. Most of my dorm buddies have i5s or i7s and in a head to head comparison I out performed all but the six core i7. Keep in mind, the i7 is three times the cost. With my GeForce GTX 560 I can easily run Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Eve Online, The Witcher 2, and everything else I can get my hands on at the highest settings. I've waited this long to write a review to be sure that my opinion is not buyer's delight, and I'm still as excited by my rig as the day I first booted it up. I don't see any need to upgrade my processor in the near future. Congratulations to AMD for making an exceptional product.

Cons: The stock heat sink is less than stellar but let's be honest, when isn't it?

Other Thoughts: I'm a little upset that they're unavailable, because I just agreed to help my nephew build his own gaming rig. Had I known that they would be so difficult to find, I would have purchased at least two more.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD X6 Not Bad

Pros: Not bad, I got one of the first ones on the market and have owned this for about 2 or 3 years now, still runs pretty sweet. Hope to get the 8 core soon.

Cons: As per usually makes the room very hot. I have an AC running in my computer room that keeps all my electronics cool. Fan gets pretty loud but that might be because my case is the Lanboy Air and if you know that product then you know its design. I still give it 5 stars and is a great product for its price now.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: Have had no issues with this processor. It may not be as great as Intel's chips, but at the price when bought last April, it was just the way to go. Could not have gotten the same performance out of Intel at the same price point.

Cons: The stock heatsink is not the greatest thing on earth. It ran at what would probably be considered acceptable temperatures by AMD, but I felt more comfortable replacing the fan with a push-pull 120mm setup.

Note also that AMD does not report temperatures for individual cores, only for the processor as a whole. The processor will report individual temperatures but they all come from the same sensor.

5 out of 5 eggsAre you serious? It's awesome

Pros: Awesome!
-6 cores - lots of multitasking and visualization. I run few virtual machines when working for different purposes on it and it hasn't really shown any signs of struggle. Then again, I haven't rendered anything on it to to stress it. Prime95 just makes the fan go faster and louder but it's still kicking solid and stable.
-High speed (capability of overclocking, just make sure to cool it)
-Six fast cores for $180? Awesome

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: First of all, I want to say, I play both AMD and Intel field so I'm really not biased (or try not to be.) This is a fast processor. While much higher priced Intel i7s will outperform it, for my needs it's awesome. Plus overclock it, I'm sure it can run stable at 4GHz without a sweat. if You want to push it get a nicer cooling setup and push it higher.

All in all, pretty pretty good processor for a not too high of a price.

Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: FAST! i bought this when it came out for $180. (12/19/10) and i am still useing it as i am writing this review (02/28/12. It plays everything i throw at it and more! SWTOR, SKYRIM modded, and BF3 all play with out a hesitation. HIGHLY RECOMENDED! Sure i could drop the money on a I7 but why would I when a better CPU is just around the corner? Over clocks well. (useing a water block)

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsOut of words!

Pros: A+++++++++ Excellent, have never seen this baby work more than 40% (except encoding videos, where you can still use your computer lag free!) Runs nice and cool with stock heatsink and fan (30-40C) And who can forget the PRICE of AMD!

Cons: None that I can think of after about a year of owning this chip!

Other Thoughts: To sum it all up THIS CPU IS AWESOME!!!
