5 out of 5 eggsBest Value vs. Fastest

Pros: This chip has lasted four years and has not had a single problem. I have OC'd the **** out of it and still stands strong. very fast for day to day computing and the extra complete physical cores (no half cores or hyper threading poopoo) really show their strength in various applications . like having Photoshop, Chrome, Zune, and Dark Souls 2 open and have everything run smoothly.

Cons: Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the 1090T or 1100T but this does fine.

Other Thoughts: I can keep up with my friends in terms of benchmarks and application load and they have muich newer systems, of course mine is not "stock" speeds ;)

3 out of 5 eggsWas great but something is wrong

Pros: Awesome processor, does whatever I need it to, or it did.

Cons: About a month ago, windows lost the ability to tell what kind of processor it is, and throttled it back to 800mhz. I've tried everything to get it back up to speed, but the multiplier is frozen at x4, instead of being at x15 like it should be. I even tried overclocking it using overdrive, but nothing works. AMD, if you could please give me some advice.

Other Thoughts: By now the AMD FX 8 is availible and cheap enough to bypass this one

1 out of 5 eggsDefective fan

Pros: Processor still works,

Cons: The fan started to wobble and make noise when starting the computer. Even after it has been running a while, it still runs loud. Tech support said they needed the S/N from the box (which I didn't save for a year) or off the processor. I removed the heatsink & fan cleaned the thermal grease off & wrote the number down. I was lucky I had some thermal grease left to put the heatsink back on, otherwise I wouldn't be able to run my computer safely. Then AMD tells me they need the other number off the processor to replace the heatsink & fan. I do not have any thermal grease left, so I have to pay for a replacement myself. Poor customer service experience.

Other Thoughts: AMD products should last more than just past their One year warranty, & I shouldn't have to go through this aggravation for a replacement heatsink & fan. You can't run your computer for long without worring about CPU of Fan Failure. I will NEVER buy an AMD product again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood...

Pros: Wen I first installed all the equipment it was running superbly. No lag or anything. I've never seen a pc run so smooth.

Cons: It stopped working in a years time. I bought it for Xmas of 2011 and right before Xmas of 2012.

Other Thoughts: I can't even get the computer or run right now. I've replaced several parts but it all comes down to the processor being the last part to replace.

1 out of 5 eggsMixed Results - 5 of 6 Cores

Pros: Great CPU while it lasted. Used this box for h2ts encoding of HD Canon videos of our kids movies and home videos. Rips would take about 30-60 mins with CUDA support and all 6 cores around 50%.

Cons: Back when ownership was less than 30 days my system reported 5 cores instead of 6. I thought it was a fat finger event in the BIOS and changed it back to 6 (I also wrote a review back then). System has worked okay without reverting back to less than 6 cores, until now. Now the system will not keep 6 cores active, reverts to 5, and is really slugish.

Other Thoughts: it appears newegg is no longer supporting this cpu... not sure of options. Support seams to be going down hill here... Since return and warranty not covered by Newegg - may take business else where.

5 out of 5 eggsNot too hot

Pros: Lots of processing for the money

Cons: Not a lot of programs that can use 4 cores effectively let alone 6

Other Thoughts: I read a number of reviews here (and elsewhere) and see people all too often complaining of their chip running too hot. With all due respect, temps in the lower 50s C are not even close to too hot. These chips are rated to at least 70c some even up to 100. The engineers who design these would not rate them as such if they weren't able to run fully reliably at these temps. You are not getting hot till you are at least at 60c so its really a waste of time, money, and fan noise to fret about it. Unless you are yourself an engineer you probably don't have a reasonable basis to be second guessing the engineers who designed these and set the specs. Sorry for the little rant but hate to see people worrying unnecessarily:]

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: For the price, AMD consistently delivers great performers and this is no exception.

I use this for a HTPC that occasionally takes on extra duties (like encoding high-def video). This CPU is great.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGood proc

Pros: This proc has alot of power for what you pay.

Cons: My only concern is how hot it likes to run with the thermal max of 62°C I would put a differnt heatsink and fan on this beast if you plan on pushing past a basic overclock.

Other Thoughts: If you want to overclock but don't want to buy a better fan and heatsink spend the extra few bucks for a black edition.
