5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price for performance cost, has been pretty faithful to me and my gaming with my 450 GTS (low budget/ mid range setup).

Cons: After about my second year having it, it's beginning to run a little warmer than it used to and I'm investing into getting a fan for it because the stock one isn't working too well. For some reason, sometimes (rarely) when I use Google Chrome, my CPU usage shoots up through the roof. I'm aware that this isn't the CPU's fault, but just something to be aware of. (Maybe it's only me =X )

Other Thoughts: Would recommend, again, great price for performance for low budget set ups.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Stable cool performance on high load levels with stock cooler, quick multitasking. Mine had a unlockable L3 cache using asrock UCC. It has a low TDP and works well in budget gaming builds.

Cons: None that i can think of

Other Thoughts: Replacing with a FX6300 to match the performance of a recently purchased 7870 GPU. Will be holding onto for a second build.

5 out of 5 eggsFalconFour, click the Get Educated link

Pros: Great price/performance ratio. I got the triple core version for a friend right from Newegg in 2010 and it's still going strong and he loves it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: "I'm quite familiar with PC hardware and performance - stuck a little bit in the older Core 2 days of technology ... all their CPUs, from the budget CPUs to the "extreme performance" CPUs, share the same name: Athlon."

FalconFour is not a knowledgeable as he thinks because if he was, he would know that the Athlon II is AMD's BUDGET MODEL and in no way meant to compete with anything but Celerons and Pentiums of the Core 2 era (not the i series especially) and would know that all AMD processors are not called "Athlon" and would know that the performance models are is called PHENOM IIs. I think FalconFour needs to click the "GET EDUCATED" link on the right margin before he makes a comment.

5 out of 5 eggsIGNORE FalconFour

Pros: FalconFour HAS been stuck in the past too long to be current on AMD CPUs. He does NOT know what he is talking about. This is wrong:

"all their CPUs, from the budget CPUs to the "extreme performance" CPUs, share the same name: Athlon."

If he knew what he was talking about he would know that the Athlon IIs are the BUDGET LINE and not the "extreme performance" line like he erroneous thinks and claims. No wonder he is disappointed. The performance line of this class (before FX CPUs) are the Phenom II CPUs. Don't listen to someone who is ignorant of the facts.

Cons: None, it does what it's supposed to do if you have the correct expectations and don't think this is the performance line that is comparable to the Core 2 Duos, because it is not. This is comparable to the Celerons and Pentiums from Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive Quad Core

Pros: Price, Runs cool, Lower power consumption than a Black edition phenom if this is an issue

Cons: Stock cooler. I did not even attempt to use it since I like more cooling power for my CPU's It's probably sufficient enough but not for me.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for an older AM2+ board I had that will not support a 125w CPU and built a system to run XP for my older games combined with 800mhz RAM and I must say it is a Kicken XP machine that Runs the OS and games up to the standards I expect.
