4 out of 5 eggsGreat for simple builds

Pros: Cheap at the time for a decent CPU. I only use this with a simple home theatre build. Wanted something kind of mid level as this was at the time and AMD of course is always cheaper.

Cons: Only worthwhile for a very simple build. Pretty power hungry CPU as are most AMDs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat chip

Pros: Built a gift computer with this, and it's still going strong over a year later with no issues at all. Great budget processor that doesn't get hot with a stock cooler!

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsUnlock the 4th core!

Pros: really great for a low-budget gaming system after you unlock the 4th core! Be sure to get a motherboard that allows this and you'll be set.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Great processor, i bought it with ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX AM3+ AMD 760G motherboard, and G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600, in 2012! I use my computer a lot, gaming and movies everyday mostly, and it works very well, handling everything like a champ, a cheap champ.

Cons: none! getting a six core in about six months, excited! i will keepthis put away, as a backup. i have no problem using this processor whatsoever. stock heatsink is fine!

Other Thoughts: my build as described with a EVGA GTX 560(non ti), and SeaSonic M12II 520 is going to last a LONG time, at quite high overall quality. I play Crysis 3 on max settings and 70+ fps at 720p quality. It's cheap, and it works.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget Gaming CPU

Pros: I put together a budget gaming PC about a year ago, and this was the processor I picked after *hours* of consideration. I believe I picked the right one. I use my PC for virtualization, AAA games, and your usual internet browsing. The 4th core was stable for me (yay!) but even with the added 30w, it still runs cool with the stock fan (speccy shows it hovering around 30° C for SC2, FarCry 3, and Civ5. It maxed out at 50° C during my initial stability/stress test).

That *is* something to note, though: if you unlock the 4th core, the power draw goes up to 125w, so you want to make sure your mobo/psu can handle that.

As long as I keep the fan and heat sink clean, though, this little thing will handle just about everything you can throw at it without breaking a sweat. For the price, this is simply the best product on the market, period.

Cons: No L3 cache, won't raise my children if I should expire prematurely.

Other Thoughts: I should note, I can't speak to the processor's overclocking ability. The mobo I picked up has a shaky reputation and wasn't designed with OC in mind, so I couldn't tell you how far you can push this baby, unlocked or no.

My build:

-BIOSTAR A880GZ AM3+ AMD 880G
-AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz
-MSI Radeon HD 7770 1GB 128-bit
-G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)
-Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3
-Rosewill RANGER-M Dual Fans MicroATX Mini Tower

5 out of 5 eggsIt's good for what it does

Pros: It's a great little processor. Generally meant for the home user who browses the Internet and plays Farmville.

Oddly enough, it also makes a REALLY good CPU for virtualization. I ran Linux KVM on the CPU for about two years. Ran 6 VMs without much complaint. Mix of FreeBSD, Linux, and Server 2008 R2.

Cons: It wasn't stable with the 4th core unlocked. I'm not docking an egg for it though. It would've been gravy if it had been stable. But since it wasn't, I locked the 4th core again, and it continued to work as designed.

Other Thoughts: A great little CPU!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: well I got an old crosshair III motherboard give to me so I needed a cheap CPU got this one and it Unlocked to a Phenom II B50 with L3 cache. so far 2 out of 3 of these CPUs have unlocked for me with a SB700 and SB 750 chipset and DDR 3 1600 ram

Cons: the heat sink is a bit small for overclocking but is fine for unlocked 3.2Ghz as long as you have good case cooling

Other Thoughts: I just love this CPU great bang for the buck. 2 out 3 of these have unlocked for me on various motherboards. the south bridge SB 700 SB 750 and SB 710 one no L3 the other with L3 and one would not unlock. I have noticed the RAM does play a role as well in the unlock. so get at least DDR 3 1600 good quality ram for a good unlock. the Gskill ares GAO and the team Vulcan rams have worked well for me. the cruicial ballistic has been hit and miss on the unlock and the Gskill GBRL seems to be hit and miss as well.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns cool

Pros: -Hasn't gone past 40c with the stock fan when stress testing
-Unlockable 4th core (with motherboard options)

Cons: -None so far!

Other Thoughts: I got this with the BIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970. It allowed me to unlock the 4th core of this processor with a simple "enable" option. The only issue I ran into when I did that was the temperature was not reporting properly on the CPU. It read constantly at more than 70c, even though the heatsink was cool to the touch. I do not know if that is a Mothrboard issue or a CPU issue.

When it is not unlocked, the temperature is reported just fine, and has never gone above 40c, even when stress testing.
