4 out of 5 eggsSolid Processor

Pros: Very reliable processor and a very reasonable price. I've got it installed in my general use / gaming machine and it performs well. I've become pretty casual with my gaming so I can't say I really push it. Under normal browsing / general use circumstances, its nearly silent.

Cons: When gaming, it can get a bit loud but to be fair, I don't have the case or where the case sits very well ventilated. Maybe even poorly ventilated. But hey, its the stock heat sink.

Other Thoughts: as of the date of this post, folks probably aren't pulling this processor off of newegg but buying it used or looking up reviews for a machine that already has one it in. Assuming the hardware is in good shape, there's no reason why you should be reserved about this chip.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing.

Pros: Very good price when I got it, very good performance. Easy to overclock with the new AMD Drivers.

Cons: Stock fan isn't very good as usual; can get a little loud if not throttled properly.

Other Thoughts: Overclocked it to 4GHz with everything stock just by using the drivers. Paired with the Radeon 7870, this thing produces great performance.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable CPU

Pros: I bought this CPU back in 2011 (its now Nov. 2013) and it's still alive and well. No overheating issues, no dead cores, nothing.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: After 2 years of consistent high-end gaming and 3D rendering, I can honestly say its durable and reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid performer for the price, but single-core performance is where the savings is felt.

Pros: Compatible with my motherboard. Not DOA. Inexpensive. IL2 1946 and Lock-On FC2 run smoothly in high detail. I'm still breaking it in but I've been able to overclock it to 4GHz without crashing.

Cons: As others have reported, stock fan does get loud at full throttle so I replaced it with CM 212. Higher power consumption at 125W. Framerates not as smooth in Steel Beasts 3.0 (but my Radeon HD 7850 could possibly be a bottleneck).

Other Thoughts: It is a good value but beware of its single-core perfomance which lags far behind Intel CPUs (even some models with slower clockspeed and less cores). This is still a nice option for older rigs with socket AM3 boards though.

I upgraded from Athlon X2 250 (3.0GHz).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overclocks extremely well if you know what you're doing. Currently running mine @ 4.0GHz (250x16) on water, only needed 1.42V to do so.

It's also actually a quad core, not dual module/quad thread like FX.

Cons: 125W+ if you OC, if you want to hit 4GHz water is a must to stay below the magic 55C
DDR3-1600 is OC, but doable with voltage and good RAM
Older tech

5 out of 5 eggsnice upgrade

Pros: Runs cools and OC easily in Bios. Got it upto 3.65GHZ with FSB clock to 216. Never breaks a sweat. Runs BF3 on Ultra Paired with 78702gig edt. Runs Crysis on Medium. Simple upgrade from X3 720 BE. Glad I did it.

Cons: ? Price went up...somewhat old tech.

5 out of 5 eggsYou can never go wrong

Pros: How I miss Phenom II's.
I recently upgraded to something else, but this CPU served me well. It's fast and has no problems, never really went about 70% unless I was doing intensive gaming.

Cons: A little expensive, you can find other things out there, but it's still an amazing processor. No reason to give an egg off.

Other Thoughts: AMD needs to get it together.
