5 out of 5 eggs3 years running strong

Pros: Fast, reliable, good price.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Bought this 3 years ago (2011) when building my "Battlefield 3 gaming rig". Still runs games on max settings smoothly. Couldn't beat the value (fast gaming quality cpu for relatively low cost). I've always had success with AMD. Will buy the next-gen beefed up 8-core when this one finally goes out to pasture. Can't bring myself to upgrade this early as it's still running everything I throw at it.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Rocks?

Pros: Still going strong.

Cons: None. Not for sale anymore.

Other Thoughts: I have had the processor running since 2011 and it still keeps rocking. This has been one of the best AMD processors I have ever had and the fact that I still have it and haven't upgraded since buying is a testament to it's power. Even now I still have no issues with it. It's has been a strong gaming CPU still even now with today's games.

For them price I paid at the time. I have gotten my money's worth and so much more.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: It's a great processor. Got this at the end of 2011, and still going strong. My only problem (recently) is that the heatsink is too low, as it can get quite hot. I'm running this on a HAF 932 advanced with all fans plugged in. Might switch the stock fan for another.

Cons: Loud heatsink

5 out of 5 eggsChanged my life.

Pros: I bought this on a black friday 2011. Oh the drama. I built a rig @ one of those "sites." A site where they build the rig for you. I built the rig around the FX-8150. The chip was sold out everywhere. Those knuckleheads bent pins on the chip. Then they mailed me the rig.

Long story short, they refunded my account. Not before I shelled out 35 bucks to ship it back. It cost me almost 100 to get it shipped from the warehouse... I took the refund and built my own system at newegg. I used to have dell dimension 4700. 2.8ghz single core chip. You fill in the gaps!

Cons: Chip gets hot. I have used the stock fan the whole time. I figured out a way to keep the fan below 3k RPM and keep the chip below 56C. My rig is on air. I live in Texas.

Other Thoughts: Turning off some cores helped me with the heat. I never attempted overclocking. I run the six cores in the fall and winter. I run 2-4 in the spring/summer, depending on what I need to do.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing cpu

Pros: I originally bought this cpu as one of my first desktop gaming builds I have ever made around 4 years ago. This chip has amazing performance for the price and is a great deal for a six core. This thing overclocks like a champ and I have been running it at 3.9Ghz on liquid cooling and this has stayed at top performance for almost 4 years now. This cpu is simply amazing it still has great performance even compared to newer cpus. This thing has several more years to come before I get a new one but my next will definitely be AMD!

Cons: It wasn't free :(

Other Thoughts: AMD 1100T @ 3.9Ghz
Windows 7, Mint Linux, and Mac OSX Snow Leopard
ATI 6950 flashed to 6970 2GB (another great AMD product)
64GB kingston SSD(I wish I went with 128 or 256)
2TB data drives
ASUS Socket AM3 Motherboard
NZXT Phantom gaming case
corsair H100 cooler

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is awesome

Pros: Easily OC'd from the basic 3.3 to 3.8 with stock fan. 6 freaking cores. Until recently this was doing higher benchmarks then the other CPUs in the same price rang, but now not so much. What do you expect it is almost 3 years old inside my computer, imagine others that bought it when it first came out!

Cons: Discontinued :-( also starting to get outdated, but should last a couple more years until needing to upgrade.

Other Thoughts: AMD rocks! and Thuban core has been rock solid for years! Keep it up AMD I <3 you guys!

5 out of 5 eggs2 years and running strong

Pros: Good price
Strong gaming and multi-tasking
Simple to over clock
Top 20 chips ever made

Cons: Not as strong some as newer chips, unless highly overclocked

Can run hot, but a good cooler will make this a non-issue.

Other Thoughts: Love this chip. It constantly benchmarks higher than the Passmark Average. Paired with two 7870s and a SSD, this CPU is great. Also scores very high on 3D Mark FireStrike and Cinebench. I scored in the top 84% only running at 3.712 GHZ.

I think AMD low-balled the stats, or I got a better than average chip. IT is really strong for the price. This thing will over clock above 4GZ, but you must be very careful when you do. I got it to 4.8 GHZ once, but quickly lowered it, as it was unstable.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this chip

Pros: I've owned this chip since October of 2011. I keep wanting to upgrade my build to a FX8350 but I can never fully convince myself just because of how amazing this chip has been to me. I primarily game and went with this chip when i was just winging it and teaching myself how to build a pc. Luckily this chip has never given me any issues what so ever. I've had it fully stable and overclocked to 3.9 for pretty much the last two years and haven't looked back using a thermaltake water 2.0 system. Never have an issue with overheating and havent seen any kind of bottlenecking in games. Looking back on this I wish i could of gotten more of these chips and just built more with them because of how nice its been. I would like to get a build up and running with a 8350 just so i can compare the two myself but i dont think i will get rid of this chip till it finally dies peacefully gaming on its own.

Cons: Earlier on i kept getting DSOD but i realized later on that my novice overclocking was the likely reason behind it

Other Thoughts: My build:
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BE
Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0
EVGA GeForce 660ti 3GB
8GB Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz @1600MHz
850w Corsair PSU
256GB SanDisk SSD
1TB Seagate 7200 RPM 32MB Cache
1TB WD 7200 RPM 64MB Cache
Thermaltake Armor A60 Gamining Case

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU for the price.

Pros: I bought this about 3 years ago and it's still going strong with stock everything.

-Power for the price

Essentially you get a lotta bang for your buck.

One thing to note - everyone talks about bottle necking in video games, and this is kind of a funny, because while it's "true" its not a valid statement. Video games have always been heavy on GPU, not as much CPU, so it makes since that the bottleneck occurs on GPUs, even with older CPUs. as you increase resolution, AA, etc. this has a higher impact on your GPU. Try doing something like stream and play a game with this card and you will start to notice your CPU fan raise to 100% and your CPU usage will be in the 80-90% range depending on what you have running at the time.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Most of the people who say their tech knowledge is 5, is actually about 3, they are "informed" on video card hardware and CPU hardware, but they aren't by any means experts. This can be seen throughout the silly comments about bottle necking. Anyone who truly understands what's required to run a game would not even mention the bottle neck being GPU based.
