5 out of 5 eggs4 months later

Pros: Rock solid stable at 3.6Ghz after 4 months.

Cons: No 6th core to unlock

Other Thoughts: Built it for a MAME cabinet and has been running solid. Now using it for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is a beast.

Pros: Fast, runs cool, plays well with my MB and Ubuntu.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I have this CPU with a Biostar MB, 4 Gigs of Ripjaw ram, a ATX video card with a 1TB HD.

I did a lil stress test...

Desktop 1: Movie playing full screen
Desktop 2: Movie playing full screen
Desktop 3: Youtube streaming
Desktop 4: Xp virtual machine w/CAD running and youtube streaming in the browser.

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and XP as a virtual machine. Using all cores, clocked at 800mhtz with each core set to "on demand" so they clock up whenever needed. IMO, what I did was a pretty flippin solid test of the CPU (whole computer really) and it passed with flying colors.

I dunno if it would play Crysis on full settings, but it will more than handle ANYTHING I will ever throw at it (just a work computer).

Right now, the CPU is at 84 degrees, in my office with the AC on.

I am very pleased with its performance and would definitely recommend it for a budget build (did mine for a lil over $400.00)

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: using it for Gf build it work great but due to mobo having issue i did not get to test it much. But overall am happy with it.

Cons: Like everyone else stock heatsink is not so great but i been using it on a older build 1year ago without overclocking and the cpu never goes higher then 50C so it not a bad if you not overclocking.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect For My Needs

Pros: It's currently idling at 19 °C (room temperature) with the stock cooler.

It only climbs 5-9 degrees when playing World of Warcraft.

I haven't been able to utilize all four cores entirely.

Cons: The stock heatsink is perfect if you don't plan to overclock this CPU, but if you do you may need to get a aftermarket cooler.

Other Thoughts: * LIAN LI Lancool PC-K59 case.

I overclocked it to 3.2GHz on stock voltage just to see if I could and it worked fine (no idea if it was stable, I reverted a few minutes later).

This CPU rates higher than the Q6600 which I had previously. There's really no reason to get anything better than this processor unless you plan on doing some hardcore gaming or encoding.

Wait for a sale. At the price I got this for I feel like I ripped Newegg off.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Definitely a decent budget processor. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming or math algorithms, but that's not why I assembled the computer.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsBargain chip; good benchmarks

Pros: I bought this chip as a combo purchase with the Rosewill Destroyer. I ended up paying about $90 for the chip. This is being used in my son's gaming/recording PC... a lot better performance than I was expecting. We paired this with the H50 liquid cooler... 30C under full load with a slight OC to 3.04 GHz and is stable.
We are able to pass PS3 HDMI through using an Aver HDMI recording card with NO delay. My son was playing online while recording through the PC. This is with no HDMI splitter. Straight from the PS3 to the Aver card and out through his 5850 cards at 720P. This is very impressive.

Cons: The stock cooler is small... like other reviewers stated. I have not used it, but I would guess there would be some heat concerns with OC'ing this CPU.

Other Thoughts: My personal build is a little older now, but I have a MSI 790fx K9a2 platinum with 8 gigs of memory, had 2 5850's crossfired, Phenom 9950 BE, raid 0, etc. My machine would benchmark at about 9700 cpu and 19500 GPU with my CPU OC'd to 3 GHz on 3dmark vantage performance. I always have heat/stability issues at any higher clocks.

I used the 5850's from my PC... swapped them into my son's and ran a benchmark using 3dmark vantage. With stock clocks I got about 9800 CPU and 21000 GPU. This was great considering the $90 CPU. I went and bumped up bus frequency to 220 MHz and then benched. Then the CPU score jumped to nearly 11000 and the GPU went to over 23000. The overall score went from about 15k to 17.5k. Very impressive, very stable, and again, very cool temps.
Not to mention my old MB is a 790FX that was nearly $200 with 2 PCIE x16 lanes. My son's build is using an 870 board with x8 lanes on his dual PCIE slots and was $90.

4 out of 5 eggsBeastly!

Pros: Wow, I'm amazed. Been using this CPU for about 2 and a half weeks, this thing runs everything i throw at it, no problems, works fast.

I have zero complains. Although the stock cooler it brings, looks cheap, but it does the job. For the overclocker, you need a better cooler fan, if you want to push this CPU to the limits.

I gave it 4 eggs: reason because the cooler looks cheap. Don't be fooled, the stock cooler does the job right.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish it brought a better cooler, but so far so good, if i ever need to overclock this beast, i will need to buy a better cooler.
