5 out of 5 eggsAt a loss for words

Pros: Ungodly fast and rediculously tough. Combining it with a GIGABYTE AMD Radeon HD 7990 GPU would STRONGLY recommend getting a massive PSU ( 1,000 watts or more) for overclocking ( which personally I think is unnecessary due to it's pre-existing raw power)- With this combination I run Tomb Rader on Custom Maxed out setting and getting 60+fps in the heat of a firefight.

Cons: I wouldn't dare speak negatively of this unholy monster.

5 out of 5 eggsIts good. real good

Pros: It was cheap it wont bottleneck crisis 3 or any new games.

Cons: skyrim has issues with this cpu. and its a weird issue. it doesn't use up any of the cores but it gets like random lag spikes no matter what clock stock or up to 4.5 same spikes. but any newer games late 2012-2013 run so darn good and barely touch this cpu. oh and battlefield 3 runs flawlessly to maxed settings. its deff how the games are coded they don't utilize enough cores, starcraft struggles when there is a lot going on but its not even touching half of the cores.

Other Thoughts: The future of gaming looks very very promising for the 8 core fx series

4 out of 5 eggsVery reliable but can't find liquid cooling

Pros: I've had the product for over a year now and it has worked perfectly for me, it doesn't overheat and allows me to run all of the applications I want while not hanging my system. Playing video games with no lag or even concurrently running multiple operating systems is nothing for it.

Cons: I've had a really hard time finding a liquid cooling system for it since I bought it; not that it needs it, but the fans I use to cool my system can be rather loud when they kick in. It's really more of a convenience thing than a necessity. The cost was high but worth every penny.

Pros: -Good Price
-Pretty fast. Everything seems to run smoothly.

Cons: -Stock heat sink is extemely loud.

Other Thoughts: My build is kind of cramped, and I only have a few inches of clearance between my case and the media cabinet, so things can get a little little warm if I'm playing a more more demanding game like Farcy or Assassins Creed. I have an external 80 MM Thermaltake fan to help move air from the side vent of the case where the video card is located. I'm considering buying a better heat sink.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cpu

Pros: Got it OC'd to 4GHz and I'm running 3 different folding@home clients on this, browsing the web, listening to music, converting video to DVD and burning it at the same time and it's only using 25% cpu cycles. On air cooling it's running at 35°C while doing all this.

Cons: Wish it was cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and powerful

Pros: I'm coming up on 7 months of ownership, and at this point I can honestly say I have yet to see the maxed out capabilities of this chip. The closest I've come has been converting 10 different 1080p MKV video files all at once. Overall usage: 90%. Thanks to my Corsair H100, the temps are always super low. Overall, very pleased. Wicked fast, and easily overclocked. At standard speeds, it currently computes at a 7.7 WEI.

Cons: The new 4.0 Ghz chip debuted literally two months after I received mine. Not that I haven't pushed mine to 4.0, but still, one has to keep up with the Jones' as it were.

Other Thoughts: Only the most hardcore gamers or video editors will even come close to pushing this chip to it's max. With the ability to overclock it at will, I believe finding the breaking point under regular use all but impossible to do. Hell, this chip make Windows run like it was intelligently designed... that's an accomplishment! FWIW, I got the chip to about 4.6 Ghz before my system became unstable. Test limits at your own risk :)

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre at best

Pros: The only pro I can think of is the price. Unfortunately, that's about it. And that didn't justify performance shortcomings of FX-8150.

Cons: Even though there are plenty of people who consider this chip an awesome piece of engineering it really doesn't leave up to its hype. Some people blame Microsoft and plenty other software makers for designing their software to work better with Intel chips from the get go. So with that said it doesn't matter to me how much potential Zambezi might have had if it's not something I can directly benefit from in real world simply because Windows can't fully unleash its potential.

Other Thoughts: The only real use I got out of this CPU is playing BF3 paired up with GTX 660 and even that wasn't done with Ultra settings. Sure I felt performance improvement as I've upgraded from first generation i5 chip and went from 8gb 1333 ram to 16gb 1866 ram.

I was extremely disappointed with how poor performance was in even simplest tasks in couple of the DAWs that I use for music production. And I'm not talking about any heavy multichannel processing, just basic midi editing with few effects thrown in the mix.

Well, to sum it all up: this cpu might be a great choice for someone building a pc with a limited budget and for general daily use plus maybe some light gaming, but if you're really looking to build a system that you can rely on then you're better off spending extra and going with Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the buck

Pros: A great processor. Fast as all get out.. and while some say it was not good for gaming it did fine in everything I threw at it.. from flight sims to FPSs. Where this processor really shines in multitasking. I can rip a CD in WM while doing a virus scan, surfing the web, playing a MP3 file in WinAmp with photshop open and a game running in the background with not even a burp. My temps have never gone over 48C either doing all that..

Cons: None so far..

Other Thoughts: The one thing I will say is that the stock cooler is not the best. I mean it will work fine for the casual user.. but I suggest you get a better cooler if you plan to push it. I have not over clocked and I was planning to get a water kit.. but the after market cooler I got (Cooler Master Gemini II) works just fine and the processor runs so well I have had no need to OC it.. I know these CPUs bench poorly when compared to some of the Intel offerings .. but in practice I have to say that it has done what I bought it for and more very well..

3 out of 5 eggsMy i52500k3.3@4.6 smokes this CPU!

Pros: This is not a horrible processor however it is a very weak one when you compare it to the Intel chips.

I'm a huge AMD fan and have been for years ever since they released the Thunderbird Slot A processor back in the late 90's.

However I am a Level 3 I.T professional and I can't miss-lead other builders or my own clients.

As much as I really wanted to like this new FX line it just will not even come close to beating my Intel i52500k 3.3 G.H.Z. CPU running at 4.6 G.H.Z. with an Antec closed loop cooler with a push pull fan design that is software controlled via a USB 2 internal port.

As I said I still love AMD and I'm waiting for them to come out with a really kick *** chip that will beat down Intel!

When AMD can beat or even come within 90 % of the Intel chips from the Sandy Bridge line or there newer equivalent. I will be glad to buy and build a new AMD server tower and replace my Intel based system.

Cons: This chip runs way too hot! I don't care that it's rated to run at 62 degrees C. If you run these chips at these incredible temps. after a while your going to pop a transistor, its only a matter of time!

It may advertise as a 8 core chip but it really not! As other more informed reviewers have pointed out it only runs four cores in reality. Plus these recent AMD chips are all prone to a memory bandwidth issue as well as having trouble running certain brands of memory as well.

This CPU as well as all the other AMD CPU's runs WAY TO HOT!! Plus running at 135watts is really going to increase your electrical bill over time for those that leave there systems on 24-7.

Other Thoughts: I love AMD's video cards and always buy the Radeons after they drop the price a little more after a new chipset is released!

I love AMD's willingness to pas along a large amount of savings to the end user. They could charge more for their video cards, however they don't and I respect that.

Hopefully in the near future AMD will come out with a chip that will run at 90% the speed or more of the fastest Intel CPU and I'll be glad to make the switch at that magical time. However AMD always seems to be far behind Intel and can't catch up!

They also really need to get the temps down on there CPUs'. Running a chip at 62 degrees C. is nuts.
