  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX 4-Core Processor The native 4-core desktop processor delivers unmatched multitasking and pure core performance with all-new “Bulldozer” architecture. New 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. Watch rich, crisp HD video. Run multiple compute-intensive applications seamlessly.
  • newegg AMD Turbo CORE Technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg New Instruction Capabilities – AVX, FMA4 and XOP, AES Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems. With HTT, the AMD FX-4100 enjoys up to 37GB/s total delivered processor-to-system bandwidth (HyperTransport bus + memory bus).
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology The AMD FX Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports up to DDR3-1866 and new low voltage memories of 1.35V and 1.2V and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).
  • newegg AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) Technology with IOMMU Silicon feature-set enhancements designed to improve the performance, reliability, and security of existing and future virtualization environments by allowing virtualized applications with direct and rapid access to their allocated memory. IOMMU is an extension to AMD64 architecture to support address translation and access protection on DMA transfers. AMD-V with IOMMU helps virtualization software to run more securely and efficiently enabling a better experience when dealing with virtual systems.

Pros: Finished building my computer. Fast and easy to install. What I really like the most was the fan was easier to install compare to my last desktop. Definately worth the price.

4 out of 5 eggsgood Budget CPU

Pros: It's a great CPU for any budget Build, clocks well and has little trouble running CPU interactive games at mid settings

Cons: Doesn't benchmark as well as more expensive CPU's but that is to be expected.

5 out of 5 eggsprocessor

Pros: It's cheap
It's AMD

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Might be a better option to spend a little extra on a higher clock or more cores. I bought this a day BEFORE the FX-6100 had an instant $15 off coupon. ARGH!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Buy

Pros: I absolutely love this CPU. Amazing bang for your buck here. There is only 1 big con imo, and that will be listed below.

This CPU has taken everything I throw at it. Im a hardcore gamer usually running many things at once. I play a somewhat demanding browser game (C&C Tiberium Alliances) and sometimes have 4-5 different windows of it open, along with YouTube, whatever game Im playing at the time (usually a steam game or SC II-HoTS) and this CPU handles it perfectly. Not even a hiccup. I can tell why its called the bulldozer. Im not even OverClocked and it can do this and then some.

So for a first time builder, and/or a budget build take my word for it and look no further. Stop hunting all over for a good CPU and get this bad boy! Cheap, fast, and reliable. Had it a year and a half and it still runs as good as day 1.

Cons: The only con (major one for me or any who plan to upgrade) with this CPU and the entire FX series, is I have yet to find an AM3+ socket motherboard with PCI Express 2.0x16. Which entirely cuts off the next generation of GPU's. Ill list my build below and yes for the time being it runs GREAT. but 6months to a year down the road I will defienetly need a GPU upgrade to keep up with the high end games. Well with this setup it just wont work as they are going to discontinue the GTX 500 series and I will only buy Nvidia cards due to very bad experiences with Radeon, and the GTX 500 series is their last to sport PCI 2.0x16 (If Im not mistaken please correct me if I am).
Either way soon I want to get rid of my GTX 550Ti and get something from the GTX 600 series (GTX 650 maybe 660). In order to do that I need to seriously overhaul my build and switch to intel, to get a PCI 3.0 capable board. Which is a pricey endeavor one that if I would have known ahead of time I would've just gone intel to begin with. So if you are planning to upgrade to higher end graphics hardware in the future I would suggest going for a 3.0 capable board which means no AMD AM3+, hense no FX CPU's. Will post my build in other thoughts.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable!

Pros: -Fast!
-Decent at multi-tasking
-Inexpensive

Cons: A few years ago, I purchased a 3.0 dual core Regor AMD processor, and in all honesty, it seemed to run just as fast whether running a single program or multiple.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing CPU for the price.

Pros: Easy to overclock. I got it running stable at 4.2 ghz without even touching the voltage, and it never goes above 35 C, which leads me into my next pro: A pretty nice stock cooler, which is great for a budget builder that's looking to max this thing out!

Cons: None, this CPU works completely as intended, and then some!

Other Thoughts: I have some regrets about some parts in my new build, but I have absolutely none about this CPU, it's quick and cool and does it's job perfectly, for a great price.
