5 out of 5 eggsfx6200 -- six months later

Pros: I don't think it's slow.

Cons: I can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: After six months of using this chip @ the factory speed I decided to OC. I managed to get it up to 4.3Ghz and temps didn't exceed 48C with a 26C ambient temperature while playing GTA4 maxed out.. I'm using a Hyper 212 cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: >6 cores
>3.8 ghz up to 4.1 out of the box
>keeps cool
>inexpensive in comparison to intel i5/i7 at this many cores and ghz

Cons: >loud stock cooler (motherboard also is poor at cpu fan control which is a large part of this issue)

Other Thoughts: This is a beautiful cpu for the price. It can multitask like a champ and run anything you throw at it. It idles at 11 degrees celsius, and has a max temperature when running GTA 4 or Skyrim both maxed out at around 40 celsius. I have never recorded a temperature over 45 degrees with my recording software, no matter how much I have it handle. This is a great cpu. Only con is the fan being loud, so either get a motherboard with really good fan control (mine is fairly poor, it is always running at near maximum) or invest in an aftermarket fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: The CPU is great ,although a bit overkill for my gaming needs it does the job in a flash with its stock 3.Ghz.
Like all 125 w processors ,it tends to heat up quite a bit ,needless to say the stock cooler is an absolute waste of plastic and copper and i regret deeply not getting a 30$ after-market cooler since day one .
IS easily overclockable

Cons: Like I mentioned ,it tends to heat up alot (75 degrees celcius with a room temp of 18 degrees celcius while runing prime 95 ,I know I shut it down before it reached 76).Like all intel and AMD processors stock heatsink is next to useless and the thermal paste was pathetic...
Still not enough to remove an egg ,it does the job finely although for gamers out there that want to build a pc ,I recomend greatly a Phenom ,they are fast ,reliable ,efficiant and get the job done for gaming ,cauz honestly ,most mordern hardware demanding games eat GPU rather than processor.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what all the fuss is about with intel i7 vs fx processors ,a friend of mine has a pentium 4 computer @3Ghz gets the same FPS playing BF3 as another computer with a core duo @ 2.4Ghz with the same GPU.So you see ,what most gaming computer companies want you to believe is that CPU matters ,and they are right ,but not as much as GPU.

If you are a first time builder ,I strongly recomend a decent GPU like gtx 550ti or a radeon 7770 and it should run most games with proper drivers at 70 fps and get a phenom ,they are cheap and offer twice as much bang for the buck than the leading intel i3 ,plus its more than enough for all you're gaming needs. Also ,buy an after market cooler ,i cannot stress that enough ,the stock one is loud and the preapplied thermal greas is terrible!A week ago i cleaned my heatsink and put an after market grease ,the temp dropped 10 degrees only by getting rid of it!

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid Quad - Can't Go Wrong

Pros: Bought this a while ago, still running strong. Chugs through things great, be they games or heavy processes. Got it up to 3.3 Ghz with 1.37 Vcore on the stock cooler at 40 degrees celsius under 80% CPU load and it still ran stable like a boss. On an aftermarket cooler and compound, that got even better, 29 celsius for the same load. I can push it a lot further, supposedly limits are 72 C or 1.55 V, so yeah... If you don't need more than 4 cores or a level 3 cache, this will make you very, very happy.

Cons: Noisy stock fan, it's just not gonna compete with an aftermarket cooler. It is good for what it is though and does a good job, especially if you're not overclocking. Also won't vacuum the living room. I tried but it got stuck in the carpet.

Other Thoughts: Running mine now with a Logisys AC2200 and Arctic Alumina paste, good combo. Loads measured via Folding @ Home on Medium in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.

5 out of 5 eggsSmart CPU, Smart Buy

Pros: • Great speed.
• Boots Win7 and Win8 quick even with a slow hard drive
• Perfect for multitasking
• AWESOME price.

Cons: • Had a few issues trying to overclock it but this may be due to my choice of memory. The GSkill that I have is more suited for Sandy Bridge processors and doesn't like to run on my motherboard very well.
• Runs hot with stock fan but I've never had extreme overheating issues

Other Thoughts: Sure, it really is just a 3-core processor, but each processor has two cores within with a shared cache and since you aren't generally going to fill the 8Mb cache it makes better use of the hardware available. It's a really smart design. Fastest processor I've owned.

I game pretty heavily. Skyrim runs great with this and the Radeon 7770 card I have at maximum graphic potential. I even went and downloaded all the 2k and 4k textures from Nexus and the GPU/CPU combo handles it like a dream.

The processor itself is a sweet buy. Definitely best for its price range. Hands down.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's not just a river in Africa

Pros: 6-cores handles anything you can throw at it without it chugging. Very-fast.

Runs acceptable temps with a stock fan. The fan is not that loud.

Cons: None that have affected me.

Other Thoughts: It is one fine processor. It is definitely a CPU that is worth buying.

Muscle cars had 6-packs you should get one for your computer too.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD is great.

Pros: AMD warranty.

Cons: Stock fan, thermal paste sucks blah blah blah all the same.

Other Thoughts: I bought this a month ago and I was using the stock cooler for a while until I decided that it would be best to get a better cooler. Upon removing the stock cooler, (Which I've never removed it before),I found that the thermal paste pre-applied really sucked. The thermal paste was like glue and I practically yanked out the processor from the socket, the lever was still down to keep it in place, with the stock cooler as I yanked it out.
Now nothing even took any physical damage and to my surprise even after replacing the old cooler with the new one, it worked. But since then I was getting blue screens from hardware failure, presumably the processor. So I sent a warranty request to AMD, all i did was send the product and serial number to them and basic info. The next day they accepted my request and me to send it in. They payed for all the shipping and replaced it with a brand new box, processor, fan. I was very satisfied with how fast I got my replacement and how i had no trouble getting it.
