OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
The 45nm processor spec goes mobile with the Core 2 Duo T8300. You get top end notebook performance while only drawing 35W. Lower power means lower heat and longer battery life without taking a performance hit. Intel was also able to pack more features into the chip. This is boosted by the Intelligent Power Capability which manages CPU power loads to further increase battery life.

L2 cache has been bumped to 3MB and the Front Side Bus pushed to 800MHz. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These combine to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out those in game enemies will be shooting back faster now.

The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost. This will kick up your entertainment experience with better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Perhaps most important of all are the security improvements which come with increased encryption power and speed.

Pros: Fast, cool and lower power usage
Cons: none..not a quad, I guess
Other Thoughts: Great processor. I installed in HP DV9730. Replaced the stock 5450 processor that came with it. Vista score jumped from 4.5 to 5.4. Memory score from 4.6 to 5.3. Noticably faster bootup and shutdown times. Couldn't be happier. Newegg had it here very quick. Don't forget heat goop. doesn't come with processor.

Pros: low voltage, way better then my t5040 1.67GHZ laptop runs cooler about 43C to 58C under heavy load with t5040 it was 51C-62C
Cons: don't feel that this processor is worth 259$ could have gone out and bought a new lap top for 429$
Other Thoughts: been watching this processor for a year Intel refuses to budge on price even though quad core is available for laptops and hyper threading is back if you have the extra cash get the t9300 or t9400 if you lap top supports fsb1066 other notes installed this in hp dv9700 big pain to install have to almost fully disassemble not like my old zd7000 was much easier also i do alot of CAD and BIM drawing and work with large pdf all the time this processor took my lap top from slow to mediocre best advise get the t9300 or get a new laptop

Pros: There was a definite increase in overall speed of the system once I reformatted hard drive and did a fresh install of OS. Gaming and multi-tasking improved as well as a reduction in heat output. Moved from a T7250 to T8300, worth the money in my opinion as it feels like a new computer now. Fast shipment as usual from Newegg.
Cons: Did not install itself in my notebook. Took some time and patience to remove old chip from ASUS A8SC and re-install.

Pros: This processor makes my once sub-par Acer Extensa 5620z run like a $1000+ laptop.

Ludicrously fast

Windows Vista Ultimate boots in about 30 secs.
Photoshop is usable in about 10 secs.

Renders and plays videos almost as fast as my $2000 desktop set-up.
Cons: Kinda pricey, but worth it
Other Thoughts: If your thinking about upgrading, get this one, its the best value for money, period.

Highlights

newegg Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture
The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes two execution cores in a single physical package to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores with dedicated CPU resources. The results enable outstanding dual-core performance and greater system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously. The innovative 45nm dual-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
newegg Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology
Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology has just gotten a mobility upgrade with the new Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor. Its advanced capabilities provide twice the multitasking performance with improved energy efficiency for enhanced battery life so you get the benefits of a powerful dual-core PC plus all the benefits of mobility.
newegg Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T)
Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST)
EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB)
Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT)
With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.
