The 45nm processor spec goes mobile with the Core 2 Duo T9600. You get top end notebook performance while drawing only 35W. Lower power means lower heat and longer battery life without taking a performance hit. Intel was also able to pack more features into the chip. This is boosted by the Intelligent Power Capability which manages CPU power loads to further increase battery life.
L2 cache has been bumped to 6MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These combine to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out those in game enemies will be shooting back faster now.
The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost. This will give your entertainment experience a boost with better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Perhaps most important of all will be the boost to security with increased encryption power and speed.

Great Product
- Pros: Works and easy to install. Using CPUID Hardware Monitor it idles around 28C-29C. When gaming it jumps to around 35C-40C. I guess it really depends on the game. I have not ran a stress test on the cpu to see how hot it could possibly get.
- Cons: I have not ran across any.
- Other Thoughts: Fun to install it. Maybe that's just me? Stays cool and can run games that require heavy cpu power.
ASUS G50Vm-X1
- Pros: Works.
Easy installation. Drop, screw, prime, paste, break in. Low power draw Lower operating temperatures all around. High benefits in CPU heavy titles such as NBA 2K10, CoD (MW, MW2, and WaW), and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. GPU heavy titles such as GTA4, Prototype, and Dragon Age: Origins did not yield as significant of a difference.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Some of you may recognize the ASUS G50Vm-X1. This model featured an Intel T5750 (2GHz with a 667MHz FSB and only SSE3 extensions). This limits ones options extremely, plus it bottlenecks the RAM at 667MHz. By installing this processor, I've freed my RAM of that limitation. For those engaging in this process, I will mind you that my warranty on my laptop expired in August 2009. By that, I mean don't void your warranty if you can avoid it or if you can't afford it.
Disclosure: I used Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound in the installation of this.
All in all, a well worth it investment.

The Guy that posted the P-7811 upgrade is wrong!
- Pros: The T-9600 is the upgrade I am looking to make.
- Cons: I don't own this chip yet!!
- Other Thoughts: The guy who posted the P-7811 upgrade says, that the P-7811fx can't handle up to 1066 FSB, but the P8300 processor that comes in the P-7811fx is 1066 FSB chip. So that is false information. Also the P-7811fx can handle the 35w Chip. I have a P-6860fx(AN OLDER MODEL) that I RAID-0'd two 7,200rpm Hard Disks together in, CREATING TONS OF HEAT, and it has a T5550 which is 35watts!! I run it for 12 hours strait without a cooler and don't have any issues. I would buy the cooler if you buy the T9600 and have two hard drives runnin inside like I do! So the T9600 is a great upgrade for your P-6860fx- P-7811fx. I highly recommend running two hard drives inside RAID-0, and unleashing the power of these beasts! That is where the bottleneck is!! Like I said, I have a little 1.8Ghz T5550 that sucks up 35w and is super fast cause of the RAID-O upgrade!! I have two of these laptops, and the one with the 2x7,200rpm hard drives RAID-0 literally makes it twice as fast!! The other has the stock 5,400rpm.

Great Notebook Processor!
- Pros: Great and fast notebook processor. Used to upgrade a Asus G60vx from a p7450. Saw 1000+ point increase in 3dmark06 and noticeable speed increases across the board from boot time to application launching. Overall a great upgrade.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg is great. Fast shipping and great tracking of packages.

Highlights
 |
Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes two execution cores in a single physical package to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores with dedicated CPU resources. The results enable outstanding dual-core performance and greater system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously. The innovative 45nm dual-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.

 |
Intel Centrino 2 Duo Mobile Technology Intel Centrino 2 Duo mobile technology has just gotten a mobility upgrade with the new Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor. Its advanced capabilities provide twice the multitasking performance with improved energy efficiency for enhanced battery life so you get the benefits of a powerful dual-core PC plus all the benefits of mobility.
|
 |
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
|
 |
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
|
 |
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
|
 |
Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.
