Great processor
- Pros: Low wattage (25W), good speed, large 6MB L2 cache, VT virtualization feature.
- Cons: I spent a little more than I originally planned (I was looking at getting a slightly slower proc, but later decided to go for the P9500).
- Other Thoughts: I decided to upgrade my HP dv5 laptop's processor because it lacked the Intel VT feature (I had the Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 processor). I wanted VT for VMware (I do a *lot* of work in VMware) and also for Windows 7's XP Mode. This processor doubled my L2 cache from 3MB to 6MB, added the Intel VT feature, increased my laptop's speed from 2.0 GHz to 2.53 GHz, and added the Intel Trusted Execution Technology feature (I'm not yet certain how useful that last feature is). This processor runs great and Newegg shipped it very quickly (I opted for the free UPS 3-day shipping, ordered on Mon morning and had it by Wed evening). The hardest part was carefully taking my laptop apart and then reassembling it after installing the new processor, but even that didn't take too long. I've stress tested my rig and everything's running fast and cool. Great purchase!
Real happy
- Pros: Nice cpu. Put it in my MSI Gt627 to replace the P8600. The P8600 used to lag and lock up on L4D but now with this new cpu it is fluid and no lockups. Also when you hit the turbo button it takes you to 3GHZ.
- Cons: Nothing.
WOW
- Pros: WOW! I put one of these in my xps m1330, H0ly cow. Amazingly faster. I wish I could give it 6 eggs.
- Cons: I had to open the laptop, and I'm lazy.
- Other Thoughts: MAKE SURE that mobile processors are perfectly correct. PERFECTLY, or it could damage/destroy your laptop.

Introduction
The 45nm processor spec goes mobile with the Core 2 Duo P9500. You get top end notebook performance while drawing only 25W. Lower power means lower heat and longer battery life without taking a performance hit. Intel was also able to pack more features into the chip. This is boosted by the Intelligent Power Capability which manages CPU power loads to further increase battery life.
L2 cache has been bumped to 6MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These combine to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out those in game enemies will be shooting back faster now.
The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost. This will give your entertainment experience a boost with better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Perhaps most important of all will be the boost to security with increased encryption power and speed.
Highlights
 |
Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes two execution cores in a single physical package to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores with dedicated CPU resources. The results enable outstanding dual-core performance and greater system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously. The innovative 45nm dual-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.

Intel Centrino 2 Duo Mobile Technology Intel Centrino 2 Duo mobile technology has just gotten a mobility upgrade with the new Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor. Its advanced capabilities provide twice the multitasking performance with improved energy efficiency for enhanced battery life so you get the benefits of a powerful dual-core PC plus all the benefits of mobility.

 |
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
|
 |
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
|
 |
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

 |
Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.
