The days of the Celeron being the also-ran of the processor world are long gone. The 2.8GHz Celeron D has two Intel EMT 64 cores for great performance, whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit software. The 533MHz FSB can address more than 4GB of virtual and physical memory, assuming you are using a compatible operating system.

This Prescott powerhouse is more than ready to tackle any task you might assign, and do so at price that won't cause anxiety attacks. Try it out!

  • newegg Intel Celeron D Processor The Intel Celeron D processor delivers a balanced level of proven technology and exceptional value for desktop PCs. Based on a new energy-efficient microarchitecture, this Celeron processor enables smaller, quieter, and more capable desktop PCs.
  • newegg Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Enhances next-generation IA-32 platforms with 64-bit addressability and related instructions, allowing flexibility for both 64-bit and 32bit applications and operating systems.
  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong Reasonably Priced

Pros: Bought this for a Customer who needed an extra box for Income Tax time. Paired it with a ECS 848P-A7 LGA 775 Intel 848P ATX Intel Motherboard Put a Gig of Super Talent Ram in and it. Runs Very kool. It has been running now for about 45 days without turning off. A real Work horse. OH added a CD-DVD Writer that I bought for $24:99 and a Windows Case That I paid $39:99 for. I bought all parts at NewEgg they Rock.

Cons: That I didn't buy Two of everything while the price was right.

Other Thoughts: Since I buy most parts to re-sell PRICE is very important. So my first search is Free Shipping. I always find enough to build a Computer and make a few more bucks with free shipping. NewEgg U guys are the greatest.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little processor :)

Pros: This processor is a great budget processor, and can overclock like you wouldn't believe. I've got one with stock heatsink & fan running at 3.06 with NO increase in temperature. That's what my client was expecting, so no reason to push it further.

Cons: Price of better processors fell after I bought this. It's okay, though. This is great!

Other Thoughts: Check your motherboard's compatibility - some won't work with the Cedar Mill core processors, and when you have a mobo like that, this is your best alternate option.

4 out of 5 eggsGood economical workhorse

Pros: Reasonable price, good workhorse processor if you doing standard office applications and watching, listening mpeg or avi files. Using up on 20% or less of the cpu resources with plenty to spare.

Cons: None whatsoever, except bought this cpu and now it dropped $2 less.
:p

Other Thoughts: Replacing, recycling old machines parts from AMD with Intel.

You dont need to spend $$$ for a workhorse computer that should be good for a few years. (non-gaming)

5 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: Performance for price can't be beat.

Cons: That is one noisy fan on this CPU. I could leave the computer on at night and use it for a white noise machine.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, low-end processor

Pros: Decent single-core CPU. Runs stable and cool. Good price-point for the performance.

Cons: It's a slow, single core chip

Other Thoughts: Ordered to use to upgrade the bios of a flaky motheboard - one of the cheaper 775 cpu's out there.
