4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Cheap Celeron, Basic

Pros: Cheap, Worked out of the Box, Great for Basic builds.

Cons: Runs a little hot. Thermal paste that came on heat sink totally worthless. Spend the $5 and get some decent thermal paste.

Other Thoughts: Great chip for the sub-$200 computer build I was shooting for. Prolly pass it on to someone who doesn't need a high-speed chip in the next month or so.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable - Great Value

Pros: This is a great little CPU. It is not a barn-burner, but if you just need a reliable, affordable processor, this is it. It ran right out of the box, and I haven't turned it off since.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: People have remarked that this processor runs hot, and the fan is noisy. I can think of only two reasons for that. Either (1) the heatsink is not in good thermal contact with the CPU, causing the unit to overheat, and causing the fan to run at full speed, or (2) the CPU is being agressively overclocked and run over-voltage.

The phase change heat sink compound provided with the heatsink is quite adequate if it isn't damaged during installation.

The fans on my unit just spin lazily most of the time, spinning up a little when the CPU is pegged at 100%.

2 out of 5 eggsbad luck

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Got it for the MSI p6n SLI motherboard as a cheap chip to run the board, it ran very hot and caused all kinds of weird issues. For example the machine would not restart, i could shut it down and everything properly, but anytime the machine was sent a command to restart from Windows or whatever it would not respond just freeze; strange?

Other Thoughts: Bad luck i guess? I'm sure these normally work well, but i got a faulty one.

3 out of 5 eggshandyman121

Pros: Good for moderate work such as e-mail, games with lower settings, MS Office, etc...Good if you expect to upgrade in the some-what near future.

Cons: Like I said, not good for the heavy gamer, It overheats WAY to easily! Expect to upgrade in the near future if you buy this CPU.

Other Thoughts: I have this CPU with a D845GVSR and it has served its time somewhat well. The overheating issue is the biggest as far as Iam concerned. And yes... I have put Artic Silver 5 on it and it helped a little bit! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! As for me, Iam building a new PC and going back to AMD.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Cheap and a decent performer. I'm able to play most modern games (LotRO, HL2, Titan Quest, Doom 3, etc) on low settings, but they still play!

Cons: Its really a slow CPU. Only 533 FSB, and the architecture is made to be cheap and slower than what's out there. Don't get me wrong, didn't buy this for performance leaps and bounds.

Other Thoughts: Good solid chip, and a great price only 39 smackers now. I paired this with a ECS P4M800Pro MoBo and a Gig of PC2700 RAM. Lasted me more than a year now and I've had no real problems with it. Replacing this next week with a E6600 C2D... can't wait!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Chip

Pros: You can't beat 39 bucks for a decent CPU. It runs stable and is fairly quick.

Cons: The stock fan is N-O-I-S-Y. But I wasn't expecting any better.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a cheap processor to compliment the cheap MicroATX board I purchased to replace a bad board in a friend's computer. This was definately it, no complaints at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little processor

Pros: Good little processor right here. Runs cool and does what it needs to. Built my parents computer with this processor and no complaints. Defently nice processor.

Cons: Could use some more L2 cache.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a cheap processor for surfing the net/listening to music this processor will do just fine.
