5 out of 5 eggsAMD all the way.

Pros: I have used AMD products for many years and this is the first server build with AMD processors and I must say that I would never build anything else. I have nothing against Intel but they have never compared to the speed of an AMD build

Cons: Not really a con but if you are not familiar with AMD products they are notorious for running very warm, so get yourself a quality cooler before even considering AMD as a build..

Other Thoughts: I am very impressed with the performance of these server processors.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Excellent performance running the Linux 64 bit 3.0 kernel. The kernel sees it as four MPUs and calculates 20800 BogoMIPS. Our client is very pleased with the overall system performance and is ordering another server with the same hardware.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsChose this over 6128

Pros: Used on ESXi home lab server and have 20 VM's running and this processor idles at around 800mhz. This is with Exchange, SQL, BES, Good, and various other application servers running.

Cons: wish it was a bit cheaper considering it's close to intel counterparts

Other Thoughts: I use it with a SUPERMICRO MBD-H8SGL-F-O ATX Server Motherboard Socket G34 AMD SR5650

and I have the Dynatron A6 77mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler with stock thermal paste. I chose this over the Opeteron 6128 only cause it was newer and cheaper. I am aware the 6128 beats this in several benchmarks but I don't care cause this does the same in others.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic processors

Pros: The new 6200 series really makes a difference, the cores can up-clock via Turbo CORE technology, to a higher speed to allow single-threaded applications more processing power. I had gotten a 6100 series last year, and found that certain apps bogged down only having a 2.0ghz core to operate on, the 6200 makes all the difference, pushing the speed up to 3.2ghz.

Cons: none yet
