5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance on a budget!

Pros: Quad core, high clock speed, decent integrated GPU performance

Cons: Where's my ice cream?

Other Thoughts: Built a budget computer for a relative using this CPU and this motherboard: ASRock FM2A88M. Threw in 8GB of ram and a great system was born! This system runs very fast and feels as responsive as my gaming PC running an overclocked i5 and 32GB ram.

3 out of 5 eggsHOT--get another heatsink.

Pros: A few things I like...
+ Good performance for the price
+ CHEAP at $89
+ Quad-core, plus GPU...for $89?

Honestly, it's a powerful CPU for the price, but....

Cons: ...some complaints.
- Runs SUPER hot
- Stock cooler is completely worthless
- RMA'd for a replacement...STILL ran hot

Other Thoughts: This is the second PC I've built around this processor. I was very happy with how the first one turned out for the price. The second one was full of headaches.

This PC build:
AMD A10-5800K CPU
GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H Motherboard
(HDD, DVD, etc...)
in the NZXT source 210 case. Awesome case.

I installed the first CPU, and had heat issues...machine kept shutting itself off. Tried better thermal grease...still happened. Tried adding 3 more case fans. Still happened.

CPU's idle temp was sitting at 80, if not climbing higher.

RMA'd the thing, got a replacement...SAME THING.

I ended up deciding just to stop there and buy a new heatsink/fan. Went with the CoolerMaster 212 Hyper EVO. Temp dropped to 45.

In terms of the CPU doing its job of processing tasks...I think it's great for the price. I'm just disappointed that AMD hasn't come up with a solution for this line of processors (pretty much all FM2 processors) to stop overheating.

To me, it's an obvious plan: Ship the thing with a better stock cooler. They could save themselves a ton of RMA problems if they'd just do that.

Learn from my headache: Get a better heatsink when you actually place the order.

5 out of 5 eggsdecent cpu, amazing gpu

Pros: GPU is powerful. CPU is ok.

Cons: compared to the price, there is no cons unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars to build up i5 with standalone graphic card.

Other Thoughts: Use dual channel memory. 4Gx2 is better than single 8G RAM. I use 4Gx3.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic apu when used with right MB

Pros: fast and powerful for the price when mated to the correct MB. i set it up on a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H MB which was made for APU gpu chips. with the on chip gpu and the MB built in graphics iget the same graphics as a Radeon HD 8000/7000 series. that and 16gigs of 2133 memory and a 3trb seagate it runs any program and graphic intensive games with ease. couldn't ask for anything more for the price to performance ratio. you just have to know how to research and use compatible hardware when building.

Cons: non

Other Thoughts: as i say do your research before for finding and buying your components that are made for compatibility and not go for bling and you'll have one heck of a system for a reasonable price that will perform all you could ever ask of it

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A decent amount of power for your buck! Works great for anything I need it to do (web surfing and misc programs.) and also runs most of your common games (minecraft, Dayz, WoW, and similar titles) very well. Don't expect Ultra graphics with this guy but can get the job done and runs relatively cool.

Cons: This processor bottlenecks your higher performing graphics cards. So don't run out and buy a R9 or equivalent. be sure to do your research before buying a card if that is your future plan with this.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome CPU!! buy it

Pros: I'm a little biased. I've always loved AMD products and use them in all of my builds.

this CPU has been awesome. I wouldn't mind if the price was a little cheaper given that Intel is moving to 14nm chips. however this chip absolutely rocks!!

after the build and getting Win 8.1 installed I'm getting about an 8-10 second boot time pairing it with 8GB of G.Skill ram and a 120GB samsung 850 EVO.

I'll definitely use this chip again in the future.

Cons: should be much less by now. I paid about $99 for this one. but with Intel moving to 14nm chips and the age of this CPU fab process it really should be going for $60-$70 instead.

Other Thoughts: the heatsink is rubish. the kind they use is a round aluminum core with fins coming off it all around. then the fan sits on top and blows down.

the core isn't even wide enough to cover the CPU heat spreader. I ended u switching to an older AM2+ heatsink that I saved from a few years ago. it's much wider and completely covers the spreader.

get yourself a decent FM2+ heatsink and you'll be fine. also make sure the fan is a 4-pin connector so that you can control the fan speed.
