5 out of 5 eggsAMD A8-5600K Trinity Quad-Core 3.6GHz and 4.2GHz

Pros: + Very fast
+ With water-cooler it never rises above 100*F (and that is with VERY extensive non-stop use of high demanding programs)

Cons: + Price? But hey, you get what you pay for, right?

Other Thoughts: I have purchased 3 of these models so far. One of the 3.9GHz and two of the 4.2GHz. The 4.2GHz have been running the the following setup:

Windows 7 Pro
32 GB Ram
Overclocked to 4.7GHz

These computers are used to run geological graphing data programs, as well as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Office 2010 and pulling data from our server every day non stop for almost a year. Not one problem so far, and the best part, no lag! I have worked with both Intel and AMD. While at one point I would have said Intel won out, these machines have really took the cake.

The 3.9 GHz processor is being used in this configuration as a server.

Ubuntu Server 14.04
16 GB Ram
16TB (4 x 4TB Hard Drive)
Processor overclocked to 4.2GHz

This machine has been running for a few weeks now, nonstop and has not had any problems. Everything transfers quick, and as stated before, I am very satisfied with these processors. For the money, they are probably the best you can get!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU!

Pros: This CPU is being used in a budget build. It performs well for the average person or someone looking to do some gaming by combining this cpu with a graphics card. Very fast and reliable so far. This is my first AMD processor as being an avid intel user. I say, for the price, it far surpasses my expectations.

Cons: N/A

Pros: Fast, affordable and It works great! The graphics are good.

Cons: when i first installed it it was running on the warm side 60c when doing nothing, but after a wile i guess the heat sink geese cured and now it runs around 36.9c base with stock fan.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and Cheap

Pros: Worked well from day 1. Runs pretty cool. A lot of bang for an affordable CPU.

Cons: Not an FX or I5 processor, but for the money does gaming and home use fine.

5 out of 5 eggsFinal Thoughts

Pros: I'm amending my previous review of this chip. As I mentioned before I was impressed with its performance compared to my Phenom 2 965be. I still have not added my GTX 660 to this build as I wanted to try the integrated graphics this offers. With an old Glacier cooler with dual 92mm fans locked at 1350rpm I was able to run Assassin's Creed 4 on Normal settings around 32fps constant and the game was completely playable with no lag spikes with poor performance drives. After playing for 2 hours straight I closed it down and verified my chip temps with MSI commander I had running in the background and it only peaked at 109f and within 3 mins of dropping idle it was back at 86f.

My opinion is AMD has something pretty good here to be able to run such a demanding game with near the same performance of my main rig running a GTX660.

My system:
This processor
8gig G-Skill Ares DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24
MSI A78M-E35
old 80gig Seagate 5400rpm 8m cache 2.5" drive for O/S
320gig Western Digital 5400rpm AV 2.5" drive
Lenovo 17" monitor 1366x768 res
Corsair CS650M semi-modular power supply
Cooler Master N200 case

Cons: AMD chips can't do Physx other than that none at all anymore

5 out of 5 eggsDoes it's job and runs cold

Pros: I will admit I am a die-hard AMD fan but I've realized they are no longer competing with intel and will soon be moving that direction on my next game rig. This chip is just a cheap alternative while I save the money but it has impressed me. This has gone into a portable mAtx pc for traveling and my main rig is a AM3 965Be oc'd to 3.9 stable on water. This guy runs steady at 3.6 and turbo's to 3.9 on air and runs about the same temps. Of course it's also rated at 100w which is 40w than the 965. Both of my systems run pretty much even on performance as well. And this is the new FM socket which is the best way to go for a future upgrade for FM+ and unlock that PCIx 3.0.
The integrated Radeon graphics aren't too bad either for basic to mild gaming on low to mid settings.

All in all a very nice entry level into the FM socket on a budget build with adequate enough graphics performace to get your feet wet in gaming although you'll still want to get a dedicated vid card to crank up the detail and enjoy the nice eye candy we all like to see. This route however will let you save your $$ up and add in a more powerful card later.

Cons: Doesn't support PCIx 3.0 but I knew that when I bought it.

3 out of 5 eggsA little too hot

Pros: I like the Apu's that AMD has and have quite a few builds with them

Cons: This one was running way too hot, I had another HS/Fan from an A10 5800k Build that got water cooled so I threw it on but it looked almost the same as the stock that came with it and did not help, tried 3 diff thermal pastes including arctic silver 5 and still hot .... finally put an H55 on it and only saw a 3c drop .....IMO the cpu was just bad ,,,,so it got newegg rma'd

60c sitting at bios is just wrong, at first i was like No flippin way but I reached in and touched the HS and it burned my finger.

Other Thoughts: with all that said I still like these Apu's but i could not use that one in this build ....

One other thing that really bothered me was I downloaded 14.4 from AMD and I did not install 5 devices on a fresh build on an 88X Chipset, including the Ahci drivers or the SMbus driver .... I could see it not installing 3rd party hardware but totally unforgivable that I had to completely ( amd uninstall utility ) uninstall 14.4, load the outdated catalyst drivers from the motherboard CD and then install 14.4 again to get it to work.

I build a lot of machines every year and this has kinda put a bad taste in my mouth for Amd, especially with the new haswells tearing it up lately.
