  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 8 Piledriver cores The native 8-core desktop processor delivers unrivaled multitasking and pure core performance with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsYou can't go wrong with this one

Pros: Handles whatever I throw at it without a problem. Over clocked pretty easily although I didn't really try to push it. I upgraded from a Phenom 755 Black Edition and it used to take 45+ minutes to encode a video, it now takes around 20 with this processor. The CPU has never locked up on me once.

Cons: If you overclock it you will need want to upgrade the CPU fan. I switched to a liquid cooled CPU fan and it went from 50c-60c to 20c-30c.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Beast

Pros: This CPU is incredible, the 8350 is the best bang for your buck available. This eight core processor makes multi-tasking effortless as you can have lots of programs running at once without suffering performance drops. Supposedly overclockable to 5GHz, Idk I've never tired it. But if that's true that would give it the 1GHz head room you could expect from more performance oriented Intel CPUs which is incredible. Thank you AMD for this AWESOME CPU

Cons: The only complaint I have about this product, and this is in no way the CPU's fault, is that no games right now take advantage of the eight cores. So if you are looking for the best performing gaming PC possible there are still better Intel options but this processor competes with many in Intel's Core i line even many i7s, and as far as getting your moneys worth there is absolutely no better option than the FX 8350 (especially since Intel's only eight core is over $1000, and it is great having eight cores believe me). Also if you do overclock this CPU to its higher frequency you will REALLY want a liquid CPU cooler because you'll be running it at 1.5v PER core meaning its going to be very hot, and an air cooler will not do the job.

Other Thoughts: Going from a laptop with an A6-4400M, to my current gaming rig containing the FX 8350 and a R9 290x is like night and day. Never buy a laptop for gaming they are terrible (not that i had a gaming laptop). No one should have to run DOTA 2 on lowest settings. That's just inhumane. Also don't waste money on a 9370 or 9590 all three are really the same processor, just different multipliers out of the box.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very fast, great for personal docs, office programs, etc

Cons: online gaming, freezes up constantly, cannot perform dual channel ram well

Other Thoughts: on a performance note, looks good on paper, should have bought INTEL

5 out of 5 eggsOC champ

Pros: New FX line from AMD. Over clocks like a champ at a much lower cost. I am running this chip at 4.9Gh. Had to raise the CPU volts to 1.45 and it is completely stable. Have a CM 212 with 2 120mm fanes in push pull config. no problem with heat.

Cons: nun

5 out of 5 eggsNo Frills - Good CPU for the $$

Pros: This CPU does a GREAT job for the money you pay for it. I've been encoding for youtube videos with this and it crunches through them with minimal effort. Matched up with a powerful GPU and you have a very cost-effective gamer rig at less cost than your equivalent i5 or i7 CPU build which IMO are over-priced anyway. Intel fanboi's will argue this comment but if you are your doing your homework, you'll find that AMD gives you all the horsepower you need at a third to cost of Intel. Intel makes great CPU's at a premium price-point. AMD makes great CPU"s at a reasonable price-point. Blacks are unlocked and I have this one OC'd to 4.2Ghz and it doesnt even flinch.

Cons: none - works great

Other Thoughts: Any CPU of this caliber whether its AMD or Intel - it's wise to invest in either a closed loop IC or full one watercooling ket for at lease the CPU. Allows you to stretch your CPU dollar by reasonable OC without fear of roasting the silicon.

1 out of 5 eggsDont waste your time, Intel is worth the price.

Pros: fast when it runs which is not often.

Cons: freezes, locks up

Other Thoughts: should have gone with Intel, even with the price being higher it would still be better then this junk.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and furious... 8 (core)

Pros: This processor just laughs at any task you assign to it and will get its jobs done before you can think of any other thing to throw at it... yes... it is that fast... it is that furious.

I bought this processor to handle Battlefield 4 because my old Phenom II X4 945 was hitting 98% of use at some points on medium settings.

The FX-8350 Black Edition and its 4.0 Ghz in stock rarely goes higher than 65% in high Settings with 2x AA (with 2x Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition on Xfire). I don't even want to overclock it yet, I don't need it.

Cons: None so far.
