  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 8 Piledriver cores The native 8-core desktop processor delivers unrivaled multitasking and pure core performance with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Runs everything I can through at it. Havent overclocked it yet. With the hyper 212 evo I havent seen it reach over 50c. It idles at 15-19c.

Cons: You need an after market cooler on this cpu. Luckily I read into this before I bought one. The stock cooler doesnt do it justice.

Other Thoughts: Would Recommend for the price and performance!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Fast
- Decent price
- Improved Windows speed considerably

Cons: - Stock fan is unbearably loud
- Stock heatsink wasn't too effective
- Had to apply thermal paste

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd say this was an okay buy. The CPU itself performs as expected, maybe even better than expected. No cons to speak of here.

The real letdown is the stock fan and heatsink, which I found to be unacceptable. The fan could be heard at any speed and at its highest could be heard in another room; the temps were always higher than I liked (35C idle, 60C moderate load). Something of decent quality should be included in the price, or there should be a cheaper option without the fan. I replaced the entire cooler with the Enermax ETS-T40-TB, which I hastily ordered just a day after installation. (It now runs at 20C idle, and I can hear something other than a constant WRRRR.)

The only other thing to note was that I had to apply thermal paste after it overheated and shut down twice on me. It genuinely looks like paste was preapplied on the heatsink, but apparently not, or not enough.

4 out of 5 eggsAdvanced Warfare

Pros: Does the job, fast. On par with an i5 Intel. Paired up with a Radeon r7 260x it plays Advanced Warfare and Wolfenstein 1200p med. to high playable fps. No stupid shuddering when panning in multiplayer. Good buy.

Cons: The only reason why I dropped an egg is because when I render in 3ds Max it would render a lot slower than I thought. But it rendered well with no freezes or lockups. Still gonna take an egg away though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Vakue

Pros: This FX 8320 can be easly over clocked to 4.4 Ghz. Why spend more on a 8350, Which I have also built. I used Mobo Asus M5 A97R 2.0 and the ueif bio makes it easy. You should uses a larger air cooler. I use Coolmaster 212, and have neevr had a problem in 2 years of use

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsNice CPU but...

Pros: Plays all the games I throw at it plus is able to handle multiple tasks while gaming. 8 cores that aren't shared or locked in some way. Great entry to mid level CPU for gamers, like myself, who want to run separate CPU / GPU configurations.

Cons: Kinda already starting to be an entry level of CPU with a lot of games recommending non-turbo 8 core 4 ghz or higher configurations.
Stock heatsink and fan is weak. Okay for small uses but if wanting to use the turbo option or run this CPU under a load for long, invest in a better cooling system.

Other Thoughts: Besides the problem of the stock heatsink and fan being a bit left to be desired, I would still recommend this CPU.
I'm even apt to try the turbo settings on this CPU once I get a liquid cooling system that I got for this recently.

4 out of 5 eggsAbove average CPU

Pros: -Price
-Overclockable
(Mine runs about 3.9mhz & 4.5mhz mem clock)
-Stays under 50 Celsius
-No issue installation nor booting
-Helps out with multitasking and splitting loads
Bang for buck indeed

Cons: -Have to adjust stock settings
- Theres somethings lacking and im not sure what I'll try pushing the overclock but I think its something with the build or stock settings.

Other Thoughts: -stock was clocked at 3.2mhz
-For the price its rated FIVE STARS in my opinion
-On a broad spectrum I'd place it at four as the rating states

5 out of 5 eggsAMD FX-8320 Awesome

Pros: Great CPU for gaming! A must buy if you like AMD CPU's!

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: It handles BF4/BF3, LOL, Marvel Hero's and all the new hot games with no problem. You just to make sure you get a good CPU cooling fan and then you will not have any problems.

3 out of 5 eggsNot what they claim

Pros: It's not what they claim, but sort of O.K.

Cons: It runs out of the box at 3.0ghz not 3.5ghz as claimed on the description page on Newegg's site. And can only be overclocked on the sliding bar in Catalyst control center to 3.4ghz, not the 4.0ghz as claimed by AMD.

Other Thoughts: I have 6 AMD cpu's. 3 quads, 2 six cores, and an 8 core in four different computers. I have never bothered with overclocking, nor paid much attention to the actual ghz of the cpu's. Have I been completely bamboozled by AMD?
This CPU was purchased by Linda Peth & installed by Me.
