  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 8 Piledriver cores The native 8-core desktop processor delivers unrivaled multitasking and pure core performance with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsSwooft

Pros: You can't overload this CPU. Temperature is very stable with moderate cooling. But with improved enhancements like water cooling, the potential increase is boundless. The price you pay and the results you receive is well worth the money. Well done AMD.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU, competitive with Intel

Pros: -Lightning fast; paired with other mid-to-upper range hardware, and you'll be the Usain Bolt of the internet.
-Overclocking is an art with this CPU.
-Easy to install. My previous PC was an Intel; it took me 4 hours to install the CPU cooler. Took me 30 seconds with this.
-No performance loss for the price. I noticed very little difference with my gaming performance for most games when I switched from a Core i5.
-Quite cheap.

Cons: -Runs hot. Very hot. But that's with any AMD CPU. Get an aftermarket air cooler, or (my recommendation) a liquid cooling system.
-Individual cores are noticeably weaker. This is where Intel beats AMD. Older games aren't as effecient with this CPU.
-A power hog. If you're the kind of person who likes to leave the computer on 24/7, you'd better start putting it in sleep mode from now on.

Other Thoughts: If you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with this CPU. It's just as powerful, if not more so, than my Core i5, and if you end up upgrading to an FX-9350, their benchmarks are actually better than the Core i7 4770K. AMD is very competitive with their new FX series.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got it for the multitasking aspect and am very pleased with performance. Had it for a couple months now. Temps seem fairly stable at max 47-48 Celsius when playing battlefield 3 & normal usage around 33 Celsius while listening to music and browsing the internet. Very good for multiple screen set-ups.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good, but

Pros: Excellent bang for the buck, nothing even comes close at its price point. Hands down. Great multiprocessor.

Cons: Heat sink is only barely adequate for stock speeds. Fairly low stock clock speed. See below.

Other Thoughts: Put this beast in a motherboard that will support easy overclocking. get a better heatsink / fan assembly and mildly overclock to 4000 / 4200 mhz. I'm using a Zalman 9500 with very good results. That speed makes this CPU sing whatever song you want.

Teamed up with a decent motherboard, mild overclocking and a SSD, it's very hard to beat for a general use computer.

4 out of 5 eggsgot it for my cousins build. annnnd

Pros: cheap.
multi tasking monster.
solid gaming.
get it.

Cons: 1- originally 159.99 for the same price spend 25$ more and get an intel

having both rigs..if yer doing any of these go with power per core.. it takes 8 cores to meet the 3570k so at the 150- 200$ range you get faster core performance and intel carries built in display with lower TDP.

but hey to each his own.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast, price for performance. Overclocks well.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Mine does 4.4ghz with no issues with stock voltage, stays under 55c. This was replacing a phenom 2 965, im glad I got it and not the 8350 you can OC this so easily to at and above the 8350's speed its not worth paying that extra money for it.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic for price.

Pros: Great processor that rarely exceeds 30% load in games like PS2 and Skyrim (with heavy modding). Stays under 30C for me with stock cooler (and arctic silver 5) and was a great deal for the price.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Curious to see if this processor bottlenecks with an MSI r9 280x. May upgrade to an 8350. Does great with my Zotac GTX650Ti Boost
