New microarchitecture, new level of performance

Piledriver microarchitecture, a tuned-up Bulldozer, has finally reached the flagship AMD FX processors (the new FX series processors are codenamed as Vishera) for improved performance and better energy-efficiency. Up to six “Piledriver” cores ensure breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking. The AMD Turbo Core technology pushes your core frequencies to the most when you need it most. To top it off, like all other AMD’s Black Edition processors, the new AMD FX 6-core Vishera processor black edition is unlocked for fabulous overclocking* capability.  Superior performance is not the only trick AMD has up their sleeve. Vishera processors are at a reasonable price point. (*AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.)

  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 6 Piledriver cores The native 6-core desktop processor ensures breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Lower price compare to Intel, as fast as Intel CPUs, easy to install and run Battlefield 4 like a champ.

Cons: It gets hot easily. The CPU fan is not too good but you get what you pay for though.

Other Thoughts: Buy a brand name CPU fan if you want to keep this bad boy lives longer.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Works great, Looks good, Well priced. I didn't use the fan that it came with, so i don't know about that. But, with my after market cooler, it rocks!

Cons: None! D-:<

5 out of 5 eggsFast.

Pros: Very fast. For gaming, 6 cores is all you need. The 6300 is powerful enough to play everything at stock speeds, but is very receptive to overclocking. Pair this with a R9 280X like I did and you will play almost everything that's not Crysis 3 at 60 FPS on Ultra while still being able to save a pretty penny.

Cons: Stock fan and heatsink are just eh. They cool the CPU, but the fan's small and loud and the heatsink is nothing special. Will cool effectively at normal clocks, but aren't up for overclocking.

Other Thoughts: Very very good processor. Going with this instead of the 8350 will save you a bit of cash without sacrificing any muscle.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Amazing CPU For Gaming and Photoshop Editing

Pros: This CPU is one, if not, the best bang for your buck CPU there is, besides the Pentium G3258. It runs absolutely smooth with my EVGA GTX 770, AND NO IT DOESN'T BOTTLENECK IT. I hate that people keep saying that this CPU will bottleneck a lot of graphics cards such as the 770, R9 280x, and so on. Well, I'm here to tell you that it is simply not the truth. Now, onto the pros:
1. This CPU is priced extremely well. For a 6 core CPU that's easily overclockable, this thing will take you places with your gaming and editing.
2. With an aftermarket heatsink, this thing runs really cool at even speeds of 4.5 GHz. I currently have mine clocked to that speed with a voltage of 1.43 or so volts (can't really remember haha) and with the Hyper 212 EVO heatsink, I'm never hitting 50 Celsius in game.
3. The gaming aspect of this CPU is perfect. Although people may say that the 6 cores on this CPU are weaker than other CPU's, you will still get very smooth gaming at high frame rates (depending on your GPU). I am currently running this beast of a chip with a GTX 770. Here are some frame rate examples:
1. Battlefield 4- High/Ultra= 50-90 fps
2. Assassins Creed IV- 40-50 fps.
3. Borderlands 2- Ultra 60-100 fps.
4. Bioshock Infinite- Ultra- 70-110
5. Batman: Arkham Asylum- Ultra- 70-120
This is such an amazing CPU for the money, even more so whenever it's overclocked to around 4.5 GHz. Then, at that speed, it is able to take on the i5 3570k easily.

Cons: Not really any that I can think of other than that it won't perform as well as other processors in older games, but you don't really run into that problem if you don't play games from 4 years ago haha.

Other Thoughts: Get this processor. The sheer bang for buck value that you get out of this is crazy and it is definitely worth the price tag. Some may label me as an AMD fanboy, but I've seen both sides of the picture and have used Intel CPU's before. This is such a great option.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it.

Pros: If you are looking for a decent processor then look no further. I paired this up with the R9 270X 4GB and I play BF4 maxed out.

Cons: The stock cooler gets a little loud after some extreme gaming sessions.

5 out of 5 eggsGood cpu

Pros: Can't really complain runs everything I throw at it keeps cool idles at 36-49 Celsius according to my HW monitor and pairs with a R9 270x it runs about anything between high and ultra settings and cheaper then any intel

Cons: not really a con just a lapse of knowledge when it comes to over clocking but anytime I try to push it past 3.8ghz it won't let me any time I reboot it clocks back down to 3.8

5 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: Outperforms my E31245

Cons: Takes a heavy OC to do it.

Other Thoughts: But... it can take the heavy OC. I have it at 4500MHz now and can probably go a little higher, even with my air cooling. Not bad for $120.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Low Power Use compared to 4-core or 8-core models, Temp keeps low, speed good enough for anything I need to do. Heat sink come with thermal compound on it! (this might be normal, but I have never bought a new CPU before)
Comes with a STICKER!

Cons: None thus far

5 out of 5 eggsReally Fast

Pros: Great CPU power of 6 cores. It's the first time I experience on my own PC multiple cores on a CPU so i'm impressed.

Cons: Runs hot but if you don't push it too hard, you'll be fine. You could always change the stock cooler and/or add fans to help.

Other Thoughts: Works great with my Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P motherboard and my 8GB of RAM.
