  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.

  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Bang for the buck! Second build with the FX6300. This processor runs everything well. Handles everything I throw its way. Great multi-tasker, Photo editing, Video rendering, General browsing and streaming are great. Games work well SW Battlefront, WoW, GTA5. All play great when paired with a decent 100$ video card.

Cons: Wont make me a sandwich, No real cons to speak of.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended, great processor a a great price.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent price for 6 cores

Pros: Exactly what I wanted with 6 core and an affordable price. Helps play all of my games with ease.
I have no complaints what so ever. I didn't use the stock heat sink and fan, to small and weak. I didn't like the stock temps. I purchased an after market cooling device that worked much better.

Cons: None, works great.

Other Thoughts: Advise getting an bigger and better heat sink and fan for the cpu.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Runs perfectly, is a true workhorse. Love the ease of install for AMD chips over Intel.

Cons: Can't think of any cons.

Other Thoughts: I installed this with a Zalmann 9700 cooler which keeps this idling in the low 30s, maxing out in the low 50s. Unless my thermal paste was bad or not applied properly, I'd be fearful that the stock cooler isn't quite up to snuff. This cooler had been used with dual and quad core Intels and never broke into the 40s in the same case and same cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsGoing on 3 years strong

Pros: -Amazing performance for the price
-Trashes multi-core workloads with ease
-overclocks like a champ

Cons: -Doesn't make my computer spawn unicorns.

Other Thoughts: I've seen people give these processors flak for their sub-par single core performance but in all honesty so few programs (at least ones I use) only use one core. I've had this thing since 2013 and its still running games on Ultra 1440p clocked to 4.8ghz. Awesome job AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsThis CPU is crazy

Pros: Unbeatable performance for the price. I was able to OC to 4.8 Ghz and kept stable at 56 deg C. It maybe able to go higher but I am afraid to try.

Cons: AMD throttled back the factory clock speed. I assume because of overheating issues.

Other Thoughts: I have a Corsair GTX H110 liquid cooler on my system. I wouldn't try to achieve those OC speeds without a good liquid cooling system.

5 out of 5 eggsAbout to get a year from this CPU

Pros: This processor continues to impress me to this day. On April 24, this CPU will be a year old running in my PC. Speed and performance is a must for me, but also reliability and longevity. I've heard of people getting 3+ years from this CPU. I'd like to see it go 5+ years for me as the rest of my AMD systems are over 6 years old now.

I also have a friend that has this CPU in his build, and today I just bought this to install in my wife's build. This CPU will replace her old AMD Phenom II X3 710.

For a budget powerhouse CPU, this gets the job done.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for $99 about a year ago, and $89 this year. Those are reasonable prices.

This CPU handles my games and every task I throw at it. Stable and reliable.

My friend plays Fallout 4 and gets about 60 FPS, and dips down to 30 FPS, but that's due to his video card.

My Build

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
AMD FX-6300
4GB GSkill Ripjaws RAM 1333mhz DDR3
PNY Geforce GT 630
Ultra X3 600w Modular Power Supply
ASUS DVD Writer
320 GB HDD
Thermaltake H25 w/window Gaming Case.

My wife's build (After Upgrade)

ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
AMD FX-6300
4 GB GSkill Ripjaws X 1600mhz DDR3
PNY Geforce GT 610
1 TB WD Blue HDD
Raidmax Vortex 402WB Case
ASUS DVD Writer
Thermaltake TR2 450W Power Supply

My Friends build

MSI 970 Gaming
AMD FX-6300
16 GB HyperX Memory 1866 mhz
VIVO Computer Case
LG DVD Writer
Sentey 725W power supply
EVGA Geforce GT 740 2GB SC
120 GB SanDisk SSD (Windows 7)
1 TB Seagate HDD (Storage)

I also have another friend I did a build for, and will possibly upgrade to the FX-6300. Here is his build.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0
AMD Phenom II X6 1045T AM3
4 GB GSkill Ripjaws X 1600mhz DDR3
Raptor 500W power supply
PNY Geforce GT 620
1 TB WD Green HDD
Thermaltake V3 Gaming Case
No DVD Writer on this system yet.

All of these systems have ran flawless. Mine for almost a year. My friend with the ASUS M5A97 R2.0, 5 months running. My other friends build with the MSI 970 Gaming, about a month and a half, and my wife's build is going on a month old.

Very happy with these systems.

Highly recommend this CPU. If you have the extra cash, try going for the FX 8350 or the FX 8370. I won't comment on the FX 9370 or the FX 9590 as I will never run those power hungry beasts, but I bet they are great for the ultimate Gaming platform currently available from AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value CPU

Pros: Great value
Motherboards can be had for cheap

Cons: CPU temps don't always display correctly, only slightly messes up my fan controller.

Other Thoughts: This is definitely a great CPU Cost/Performance wise. Personally if I was doing anything like video editing or other CPU intensive processes, I would get Intel though.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Prossesor you can get for 100$

Pros: Cheap and for those of us on a tight budget, you want the most bang for your buck. The FX 6300 certainly delivers on both fronts its great for multi-tasking and gaming. Seriously this thing impressed accompanied by a decent GPU good times will be had by all.

Cons: The stock cooler is a bit on the loud side when working hard (or playing hard)

Other Thoughts: If your buying a budget tier GPU 100-250$ then this CPU will give you plenty of performance to back it up in gaming.
