New microarchitecture, new level of performance

Piledriver microarchitecture, a tuned-up Bulldozer, has finally reached the flagship AMD FX processors (the new FX series processors are codenamed as Vishera) for improved performance and better energy-efficiency. Up to six “Piledriver” cores ensure breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking. The AMD Turbo Core technology pushes your core frequencies to the most when you need it most. To top it off, like all other AMD’s Black Edition processors, the new AMD FX 6-core Vishera processor black edition is unlocked for fabulous overclocking* capability.  Superior performance is not the only trick AMD has up their sleeve. Vishera processors are at a reasonable price point. (*AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.)

  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 6 Piledriver cores The native 6-core desktop processor ensures breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent budget cpu

Pros: Overall I am really happy with this processor. I'm mostly into gaming and web design. My old gt 240 and my 7200rpm hard drive are now the bottleneck.

Hopefully when software is written to better utilize more than a few CPU cores this processor will shine even more.

Cools well enough even with the stock all aluminum heat sink and fan.

Cons: It would be nice to see some copper on the heat sink. Cooling hasn't really been an issue though.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty sweet cpu

Pros: really fast, scores a 7.5 windows score stock
with liquid cooling i have mine overclocked stable at 4.8ghz now scoring 7.6 and made my ram go up to 7.9 from 7.6

Cons: stock fan

Other Thoughts: INSTANTLY buy either liquid cooling or a heat-sync

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Replaced my aging Phenom II 1055t, I gotta say its pretty zippy. Tested on a few games and did some video conversions, performance wise was outstanding. Oddly enough it came with a small heatsink, but it seems to be doing the job in keeping the temps down.

Cons: none so far...

Other Thoughts: Even though I didn't purchase the item here, just wanted to give an honest review.

Pros: Does a good for job for me!
Runs very cool and fan work just fine.

This is confirmed by the Asus Sabertooth "Thermal Radar" feature!

Cons: Fan does look a bit cheap compared to the previous AMD processors fans I have. Bottomline: works well!

Other Thoughts: The casing/package looks cheap compared to the past packages. The image and perception of quality would be better if they had stuck to the old style packaging.

5 out of 5 eggsFX 6300

Pros: This CPU is an amazing buy for the price. FX 6350 not worth the extra money. I saw a bunch of posts putting the stock cooler down, but I have this sucker OCed to 4.3 Ghz and runs just fine on Shogun 2, Planetside 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis 2, and all of my other games. This paired with a GTX 660 Superclocked is crazy. I get around 60FPS on all of my games except for Planetside 2 where in huge battles I get around 30-40 FPS. Never dips below 30.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: This processor is great! For the price you get a nice 3.5 GHz , 6-core CPU, and Intel offers only dual cores at this price range. I've had no problems with it so far, it's really strong and paired with a good GPU, it can run almost anything with no probs. Having six cores also means this processor is great for multi-tasking.

Cons: The heatsink isn't really amazing, and idles at about 35-40 C. But it works decently for gaming if you're not going to be overclocking. Also the fan they gave me is red, and my system is blue and black lol. Another thing, CPU-Z and any other program used to identify the CPU will tell you it's a 6100, because it basically is. Nothing serious, though.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried overclocking yet, will wait until I have a better cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Picked this up when it was first released, upgraded from an Athalon, so my performance increase my pretty high. Definitely glad I waited for Vishera instead of getting bulldozer. Easily overclocks to 4.1ghz, but after that I have stability issues.

Cons: The stock fan is incredibly, it's actually the loudest thing in my case, but its only an 80mm fan, so it wont be as quite as its bigger brethren. The heatsink was also bent went i pulled it, but there was no damage to the box and it still performed as it was supposed to.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: I enjoy gaming, but like most people in this country right now, money is tight. So debating between the intel i5 series as well as the FX 8350 was pretty hard. Especially for the price. So I ran across the 6300. And I must say for a budget pc this CPU performs very well. Getting 60+ fps on new Tomb Raider on ULTIMATE settings.

Cons: You will probably need another CPU fan. Mine was hitting between 55c-60c. Some can live with that, me not so much.
