New microarchitecture, new level of performance

Piledriver microarchitecture, a tuned-up Bulldozer, has finally reached the flagship AMD FX processors (the new FX series processors are codenamed as Vishera) for improved performance and better energy-efficiency. Up to six “Piledriver” cores ensure breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking. The AMD Turbo Core technology pushes your core frequencies to the most when you need it most. To top it off, like all other AMD’s Black Edition processors, the new AMD FX 6-core Vishera processor black edition is unlocked for fabulous overclocking* capability.  Superior performance is not the only trick AMD has up their sleeve. Vishera processors are at a reasonable price point. (*AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.)

  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 6 Piledriver cores The native 6-core desktop processor ensures breathtaking 3D modeling and HD video edition as well as maximum multitasking with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

Pros: Love this CPU. The cost is right and keeps up with the fx-8370. I have in my other build. Would I recommend this to other...I have. For a budget build you can get this CPU and a better mobo with the money you save. Plus turbo at 4.1 ghz

Cons: It runs hot, like an AMD product...which it is...so cool it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Powerhouse

Pros: Very low price for what you get. Easy overclocking. Mine is running at 4.5GHz and I could probably push it further but have not tried. Currently using a Corsair H110i GT liquid cooler.

Cons: Awful fan/heat-sink. Not sure why they still include these terrible OEM coolers. Does not keep up with Intel, but the huge overclock-ability partially makes up for that.

Other Thoughts: I had a bunch of crypto-currency mining rigs that I decided to turn into gaming rigs and HTPCs after Bitcoin began tanking. I bought several of these CPUs to go with the motherboards and GPUs I already had. Now my entire house is wired for gaming and media streaming.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!!!

Pros: - Easily Overclockable
- 6 Cores
- Less expensive than Intel
- Underdog

Cons: - Stock Fan is ok...just ok
- Could be cheaper

Other Thoughts: I recently upgraded my Phenom II Dual Core 555 (BTW I was never able to unlock the other 2 cores). It actually was a quite caple CPU for the 5 years that I used it, but I felt the urge to build a new System.

One thing I really like about the Vishera is the fact that I now have 6 cores which is quite useful when converting movies to DVD. Easily 3 times faster.

This was a total system upgrade, so I;ve gone from 4 gb DDR2 to 8 gb DDR3 (1866 G Skill) and I've added a Seagate SSHD. Everything feels a lot faster now.

Using a CoolerMaster TX3 with 2 fans, I have no problem running stable at 4.013 (200 bus x 20 ratio) 25c idle. I may try pushing it a little more. Overall a very good value for the money. 383 for RAM, Motherboard, 1TB Hybrid Drive and CPU. Thanks Newegg!!

Pros: I owned many Intel CPUs and had spend quite great amount of money to built up my PCs now that i have experienced AMD power, i will never use Intel. I have became AMD fan now i even bought a AMD Radeon SSD. This CPU responses very well for my daily use, heavy gaming.

Cons: None at all

5 out of 5 eggsfx6300

Pros: Very nice cpu with great capabilities as a lower end cpu. Does great with gaming, only play bf4 and sims 4 and it does awesome. Can't be beat for the price. Only over clocked to 3.8. If I want a faster cpu, I'll buy one vs over clocking. I like my parts to be reliable.

Cons: will heat up within an hour or 2 only if your doing something extreme.

5 out of 5 eggsGood CPU

Pros: Works like a champ. Overclocks easily.

Cons: Runs a little warm. See thoughts

Other Thoughts: Be aware, this is a 95W version. Comes with a stock aluminum heat sink. Small box. Luckily I had a left over 125W heat-sink(2 pipe). Overclocked to 4.0GHz/4.2GHz turbo. Idles 30c. Playing WOW on 1080p, high graphics(GTX 960) got to 40c. Still burning it in. Wouldn't go much higher without a 4 pipe, or liquid cooler though.

5 out of 5 eggsHaven't had a problem yet

Pros: I've had this processor for about a year now. Stable at 4gz 10c idle 30c under heavy load. Using 212 evo cooler with lots of case fans.

Cons: I don't know if it's the motherboard or what but my computer boots really slow. I think i just need to get an ssd and it would solve that problem for the most part.

Other Thoughts: It's a pretty fast processor and I don't think it would be your bottle neck unless you were doing some insane rendering or possibly large jobs on auto cad.
