5 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade from A4-3850

Pros: Very fast. Supplied CPU cooler is good.

Cons: None so far. If you want to overclock, best to get a higher end CPU cooler.

Other Thoughts: AMD's next gen CPU's will probably be better, 2016. But then there is always something coming out next year. I went with this CPU and an MSI Radeon 250X GPU. Beats the heck out of my old Llano APU.

I'm pleased with my new build. Ordinary internet, office apps work great. Good for gaming, except for the most new and demanding games.

5 out of 5 eggsSo good, I got a second a year later

Pros: Fast! Never a single problem with any AMD processors I have owned over around 20 years. Runs cool with the stock fan and has run everything I have thrown at it. The price is very good for this CPU.

Cons: Can't think of anything. I'm very satisfied.

Other Thoughts: I have an AMD CPU I bought about 10 years ago and it is still running strong after two motherboards have cooked. The fan heat sink was full of dust, but no overheating. Great chips.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocks like a dream.

Pros: Cheap!
Overclocks easily with good cooling.

Cons: FX-6300 is the same price, i dont have any personal experience with the 6 core flavor fx but its probably going to get slightly better performance with the newer games utilizing more cores.
I didnt even try the stock cooler...

Other Thoughts: IMPORTANT: If you are going to overclock, get a decent mobo. Im running a gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 v.4 (north bridge gets hot but other than that its good)

I bought a $90 cpu and put a $110 corsair liquid cooler on it. lol... Im currently sitting at 5.02ghz at 1.416v under load. 2 hours of prime95 hit a peak of 51c in a 23c room. Corsair H110 with stock fans hit 65% fan speed.

Im positive this thing can do 5.1+ ghz given its on a decent board and has effective cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsArguably Best AMD CPU To Get

Pros: Bought an OEM version without CPU cooler. (As if I wanted the stock cooler anyways)
This is nothing new, games do not use 8 cores. So getting this CPU with turbo out of the box 4.3Ghz is obviously going to have better single core performance than it's bigger brothers.
Took my Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition out of my Asus M5A97 and put this in after a BIOS update. Now my 965 BE was at 4.0 Ghz so I was sketchy about the upgrade, but the 965 still sells for a good price, so depending how cheap this chip goes for this can be a free upgrade like it was for me.
Few hours of it in my PC I gave in and decided I wanted to overclock now. I hit 4.7Ghz on 1.38V which is basically stock voltage if not lower. Seems to have been a worthy upgrade from my Phenom II chip.

Cons: Didn't hit 5Ghz like I expected. Really I could I use a Hyper TX3 cooler with two fans on turbo and it provides excellent cooling, but I had to bump the voltage up very high likely from 1.38 to 1.5 to get anything above 4.7Ghz with my chip and I saw heat go up where as 4.7Ghz ran as cool as stock speeds, so I myself couldn't really justify going any further for my gaming needs.

Other Thoughts: Get a 6 or 8 core if you want and have very good cooling and want to overclock. On an air cooler this a great FX chip and it's single core performance is great surpassing the other FX chips at stock speeds, besides the FX 9370 and 9590.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Great processor that has no trouble handling any games you throw at it and will do so for a long time. You will have no noticeable difference in the vast majority of applications and no difference in games between this and the really high end quad and eight core Intel CPU's. Just a great CPU that can sometimes drop down to insane prices that give you an amazing bang for the buck (I got it at 40 bucks less than what it is listed at normally).

Cons: The fan is definitely audible so if you are in a quiet room you will hear it and when gaming it will get to be even louder but it is a non factor for me because I usually have my headphones on or some other background noise going so I never hear it. Have seen it max out at around 50 degrees Celsius even when playing the most demanding games available so the fan is doing its job and keeping it cool.

Other Thoughts: Great bang for your buck especially when compared to Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect for gaming

Pros: I'm not a fan boy, I just like quality at a great price. if you are building a gaming rig, this is great over clocked with a water cooler. I got it on sale for 69, combo it with a corsair water cooler, and over clocked it for maximum performance. this is literally the 8350 without 4 cores. most games, or even windows for that matter doesn't use more than 4 cores effectively. anyone who says otherwise is a fan boy. Windows doesn't properly utilize the 8 core architecture from Amd and due to software limitations within the windows os(I.E. why in certain programs Intel chips perform better, and the fact that most of those programs were designed on Intel hardware fyi). there are guides out there that show u how to optimize windows to utilize the 8 cores better for higher performance.

But like I said, you only need 4 cores to game and over clocking it handles any minor multitasking issue. people spend money on the name and what they think they need, but why would I spend 170 on a cup when the 70 dollar one will give me the same performance. don't be a mindless consumer. year about the hardware that matches your needs. you can over clock amd chips to get the performance you need. if you don't want to risk it, get an i5, non "K" version and that would be good.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGood for beginner PC's

Pros: This is a great CPU for beginner PC, it's base clock is a strong 4.2 ghz , I put it in my Brothers gaming rig i built him, I even have it stable at 4.6ghz. and you can't beat it's price for performance ratio, so yes, it's cheap.

Cons: The only thing i have an issue with is it's level 2 and 3 cache, but to be honest. didn't expect much for it's price

Other Thoughts: To be honest for $100 you can't beat this processor, and since it's a very common am3+ as long as you get a good motherboard ( i would recommend the MSI SLI krait edition am3+ ) you can always upgrade to an 8 or 6 core veishera processor.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!

Pros: This processor is the best value out of any processor on the market. I turned on oc genie 2 on my msi motherboard and it clocked it at 4.5GHz. I am running a liquid cooler but it has never gone above 40 degrees C. This processor has surpassed my expectations by a mile, if your building a gaming rid or just any rig period and don't want to spend 300 dollars on a CPU.....this is your processor.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsdid not fix the prolblem

Pros: I have A pheanom II processor 4 core the problem is running it on 4 cores or 4 cores active the computer would lock up. So I replaced it with FX-4350 and got the same thing but a lot worse it would lock up more often. I found that running them on 2 cores would solve the problem.

Cons: Why buy a 4 core when you going to have that problem.

Other Thoughts: Get a 2 core.
