1 out of 5 eggsIf only..

Pros: 8 core at 4.7ghz with an oc of 5.0ghz.. amazing power

Cons: Power consumption @ 220w, no true motherboard support for 220w.

Other Thoughts: I set this in a system with a new corsair H100i + EVGA 960 + 32gb Corsair Dominator and a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 (rev. 1.0). 30 minutes is the most the system would run. Replaced the board then with a Gigabyte 990fx-Gaming + Patriot 240ssd + Captain 120 water cooling and we had the exact same issue. Mind you this was on a known working (my current) NZXT Hale 850w PSU.
After speaking with Newegg today, they will not allow a replacement or even a move down to a 8350 cpu to get this system running. All other parts from other services (other than Newegg) have allowed past date returns or RMAs. So, here we are stuck with a 9590 and nothing to use it in. Thanks Newegg, this just solidified the use of using another site going forward for all purchases as they will actually work with the customer and not just give them No before they can explain.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD FX-9590-Wow! x 8

Pros: Lets first start off with this processor is a beast! It not only has enough processing power to accommodate just about anything you can wish to accomplish it also will give you some piece of mind for longevity and not having to upgrade your system for several years. No need whatsoever to over clock this monster as it is already a beast at 4.7ghz x 8 and boost to 5ghz when needed. A fine accomplishment for AMD and the AM3+ line. Well boxed as always with AMD processors.

Cons: Beast is an understatement and with being said it needs a beast of amount of power and cooling to get it happy. So not much of a con but more a warning. Do not under estimate this monster as I did and try to air cool it. No matter what you read about air coolers this monster must be tamed with water and a good cooler at that.

Other Thoughts: Bought this package of pure gold to replace my aging Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition. Why not go all the way on the AMD side right? Paired it with a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 v 4.1 board, A Corsair Cube Case, A Corsair H100i GTX extreme water cooler, A Corsair AX1200i power supply and 16g of Corsair 2133 memory 2x8gb and two XFX R9 380x video cards. First and foremost it needs this kind of power. Also be aware that even though you are drawing off the heat from the top of the processor the mother board may also get a bit warmer in the area of the processor than you may expect. Be prepared. This being said I could not be more pleased with this.It was very reasonably priced for what you get and even though it may not be rated as good as lets say its brother from another mother it still can keep its own in a street fight and possibly come out on top. Pick up one as soon as you can and don't waste its talents on cheap peripherals. Let it shine and bask in its awesome light.

1 out of 5 eggsNo longer supported on msi 970 gaming motherboard / others

Pros: One day a motherboard will 100% support it? (5-10 years from now)

Cons: No longer supported on MSI 970 gaming motherboard After M.0 Bios (MSI RMA Will not downgrade your bios after update..)
No motherboard 100% supports the AMD FX-9590 at 220watts TDP

5 out of 5 eggsGreat core!

Pros: - Fast, stable core.

Cons: - Expensive. But, it's the top tier AM3+ core currently. What do you expect?
- Requires liquid cooling, which adds to the cost.

Other Thoughts: A (currently) $240 core, with an additional $100+ for Corsair H110i GTX liquid cooling. That's a chunk of change. But my core tends to idle anywhere from 10-15*C, even with some games at max graphics and heavy loads, I've never seen SpeedFan clock it above 35*C. I have yet to find a multi-tasking combination that this core can't handle. Buy it, you won't regret it.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: Great processing power

Cons: Basically an overclocked 8350 and it is very unstable and unreliable and it crashed my computer every 10 mins.
Its tdp is way too much for the amount of processing power that you get from it

Other Thoughts: Would not reccomend

4 out of 5 eggsHit and miss so far!

Pros: Very Fast! Overclock to 5Ghz + with water cooling

Cons: I have purchased three of the 9590s in the last 6 months. The first one went bad after turning the computer on and off 11 times. It was past the thirty day warranty through Newegg. AMD replaced it no problem. The replacement has been working fine. The second one arrived with bent pins. The crate it came in was closed and secure, but there was no foam under the pins in the crate. The outside package was also sealed. The pins must have been bent while packaged at the factory. Newegg sent me a RMA right away. I had to purchase the last one locally to repIace the second one. I had to have it right away. It worked fine out of the box. I am waiting on Newegg to ship the replacement. Knowing Newegg it will be here soon.

UPDATE: Newegg will not honor my return! They say it is user damage even though another customer wrote in a review he also received one with bent pins. I won't be able to trust Newegg from now on. I did call AMD, and the customer service rep told me to explain what has happened in detail on the online RMA page. They may honor the warranty. I will update this when I get the processor back from Newegg and start the RMA through AMD.

UPDATE: Newegg is the bomb. After some convincing they agreed to replace my processor. I'm so impressed. I have been a long time customer of Newegg. I have purchased tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise with Newegg over the years. This was my first dispute and they treated me fair. My faith in Newegg is very much intact.

Other Thoughts: I will still recommend this product, but be careful. I have used AMD for the last 8 years and have had zero problems. I'm not sure what's going on with the 9590s. I am a very experience computer builder.

I used the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes on my last build. I did not overclock it. It has only a single (PWM) pull configuration fan. It is on an Asuis Sabertooth R2.0 Mobo, 8 Gigs of Corsair 1866 Vengence memory, EVGA 750Ti Vidoe card, and powered by a 700 watt corsair PS. It is rock solid. I use Intel burntest on my builds. It passed the max test. It never got over 55c. This combo is pretty nice for the buck. Will update to water in the future.

4 out of 5 eggsOn fire !

Pros: blazing fast

Cons: prefers arrow down

Other Thoughts: I recommend fireproofing the motherboard before lighting up your new AMD. Optimum dab temp reached after about 2 minutes in CS.

If cooled properly: processor stays well within reasonable temps, 40 C max so far using a 280 Radiator.

5 out of 5 eggsFast with manageable heat

Pros: -Quite fast with 8 cores
-Not a bad price (especially on sale)
-Able to run games like Star Wars Battlefront (the new one) on ultra
-Should improve in games with Direct X 12
-I am able to keep this cool with air (on a cool night of 10 degrees C, I was idling at 17C and under a Prime95 full load I was at 42-43C). No need for a water cooling system (see below)

Cons: -It does put out a lot of heat
-Currently, Intel has more powerful chips (though this one will do everything you need)
-You will need a good motherboard to use this (check the official AMD support list)

Other Thoughts: You will be able to keep this cool on air if you use a large top of the line air cooler (I use the Noctua NH-D15), decent thermal paste (it does not make that much of a difference, but every degree counts; Arctic Silver 5), and have a case with many fans and good airflow (Like the Corsair 750D with al the fan positions filled). You will not have much headroom for overclocking, but it will function. I also recommend leaving the power saving features on in the BIOS as it will help keep things cool under low load. Bu sure to not use too much thermal paste and to check your temps early on during some stress testing. It is also a very bad idea to be cheap with the cooler. Go big or go home.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: 8 cores, high overclock. Runs cool

Cons: absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: I have to agree with some of the other reviewers about this cpu. This bad puppy is great. My cpu is running @ 5.017 and it idles at 34c. Those of you who have this cpu and are having heat issues, it is probably your cooling solution and or your case. So please don't knock this cpu unless you have tried to use a good and dependable cooling solution. I'm running a Corsair H110 in a Cooler Master HAF XM case along with 16gb of Kingston Hyper X Predator 1866, clocked slightly higher @ 1900. Really fast chip. For all of those people out there that say that there is no proper cooling out there, you are wrong. I run a Corsair H110, the cpu is @ 5.017, the temps at idle is only 26c. So that tells me some of you are doing something wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: I'm not an overclocker, but if I was I could theoretically take this to 5Ghz. One day I'll test that, but until then I'm happy my upgrade.

This thing is fast. I did pair it with a Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX Extreme Liquid CPU Cooler because AMD strongly suggests it.

I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Cons: None.
