5 out of 5 eggsFX 9590 CHV-Z Board

Pros: Again this is my 2nd 9590 cpu, just as a back-up for me to feel good just in case. I posted here before, just want you to know "Extreme cooling Needed" to Really make this GO !
water cooling very good, Phase change Cooling way way better.

Here's my system: I boot up @ 5530Mhz from Bios no software, just a few adjuctments in Bios and Phase,Change Cooling -50c don't forget this is a 220 Watt cpu:

system specs: this has been like this since I bought the 1st 9590 running for almost 2 years or so..... not 24/7

FX9590 CrosshairV-Z W764
-51c Cpu SS Phase.Change Cooling
OCZ.PCIe RevoDrive3x2 Raid0
290X Msi Lightning
1600 Watts P2 Evga Platinum
Ram; GSkill TridentX Cas7 1600Mhz
Dell U2410 24" IPS
5.1 Sound Pro-Klipsch

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Lets hope the next Level of AMD is Even Way Faster, I can Hardly Wait

5 out of 5 eggsDon't listen to the negatives others say.

Pros: It's the best AMD CPU you can buy.

Cons: None. And I mean NONE.
Everything everyone else is saying simply seems unfounded.
This CPU performs outstanding and after running Prime95 for about an hour, it never exceeded 61C (using Noctua NH-D15).
That is a stark contrast to my Intel machine that easily passes 70C.

Other Thoughts: I am not a fan boy.
This is my first AMD CPU.
... And I'm very impressed.

The system is rock solid stable.
(ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z).
It's pretty hard to get good apples to apples benchmarks, but when you simply look at price per performance, this thing wins. Any worry about power consumption can be thrown out because it throttles the watts very well. I've seen it dip to <3W. It's only under full load that you will pull 200W+.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a processor!

Pros: Powerful powerful powerful! 8 cores of furious power! Havent even managed to max this thing out yet. Highest Ive overclocked to was 5.1 GHz so far. Didnt see a need to go any higher.

Cons: Price is a little high for a processor but you get what you pay for. This thing is a champ! So not really a con just more of a wish it was cheaper.

Like all the other reviews say this does run quite warm! Any kind of load on it at all causes it to heat up quickly. I use the H100i and it keeps it perfectly cool. 16-19C idle and 30C under 50% load. Havent found anything that pushes it above 50% load yet in normal usage.

Havent seen anything come out ina while for AM3+ chipset. Hope that doesnt mean this chipset is dead. Otherwise youve hit the wall upgrade wise for whatever motherboard you buy.

Speaking of motherboards youve got few choices. Which is mildly annoying but you need to go with ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z. Best for this processor by far.

Other Thoughts: Full setup:
CPU: AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
Backup HD: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM
CPU cooling: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i
RAM: Team Vulcan 16GB (4 x 4GB)
Video Card: 3 x EVGA 04G-P4-2768-KR GeForce GTX 760 4GB
Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5" 500GB

5 out of 5 eggsFX 9590 220Watts Excellent !!!

Pros: This is 2nd 9590 just in case they stop making them, and I have a Back-up...
You need "water cooling Minimum" to Run this 220 Watt CPU at a HIGH CPU SPEED like 5000Mhz + or a MASSIVE AIR COOLER.
I run mine at 5530mhz with Phase.Change Cooling when I boot up, I dont use Software to OverClock I have everything set in Bios. This is the Best Cpu I have every had ...I have Had all AMD cpu's past 10 years...Im just waiting for the Next one Better than FX9590

MY SYSTEM:

CrossHairV-Z 9590 cpu
RevoDrive3 X2 Raid0 PciE
-51c Cpu SS Phase.Change Cooling
290X Lightning MSI
1600 Watts P2 Evga Platinum
G.SKILL Trident X Cas7 1600Mhz

1 out of 5 eggsYou're going to regret this

Pros: This processor is pretty good, but there are serious drawbacks to consider.

Cons: There are two BIG reasons that you shouldn't buy this.
1) The socket is dead. You'll get this nice processor, and when upgrade time rolls around, you'll regret it. Instead of simply buying a new processor, you'll have to buy a new processor, motherboard, and possibly new DDR4 ram. The clock speed looks so appealing, but its not worth it. Intel chips with slower clock speeds actually perform much better, and aren't running on dead sockets.
2) HEAT. Its way too hot, it consumes way too much electricity, and the benefits afforded by the high TDP are minuscule.

Take it from someone who made the the mistake of buying the FX 9590: Don't do it.

Other Thoughts: The i5-4690K (Devil's Canyon) costs the exact same amount of money (you'll actually save money if you forgo the liquid cooling loop, although I'd get it anyways).
For literally the same amount of money, you could get an i5 with liquid cooler, overclock it, and get far, far superior performance.
Then, several years/months down the road, you could upgrade, and save money there too.

2 out of 5 eggswolf in sheeps skin

Pros: Price, cheaper than a comparative intel chip (dollar for a dollar), stable at a stock speed 4.7ghz

Used it to play Call of Duty Advances Warfare and Ghost, was able to pull an average of 90 FPM in multi-player disseminating enemies before you appear on there screen, of course thank to NVidia GTX-760 (SLI),

Cons: Requires water cooling system even at stock speed.
Unstable when over clocked, it wont even run (10 seconds) at preset turbo speed of 5.0ghz via bios.

Other Thoughts: If you are the type of person who wants to tweak and try to squeeze every last drop of speed on the CPU, this CPU will fail you miserably. This chip I believed AMD already squeezed the last drop from FX-85XX till its bone dry and renamed it FX-9590.

5 out of 5 eggsfast

Pros: fast.it's not just an overclocked chip as some post.it has a diff and added instruction set.no need to overclock, but have it running at 5.3ghz stable. heat:was running hot 30c idle, full load hitting 70c on a h60.purchased mx4 thermal compound from newegg (see review)to replace the cor stuff that came with the h60 temps went to 25c idle to 45c under full load.great cpu with proper cooling.every cpu performance test I have run, it has blown away the i7 except in prime #'s test (not prime 95) in comparative results.and I was always intel fan, this is my first amd chip and for the price diff of a i7 you cannot beat it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: just make sure your mb can handle it ,and your case has good airflow. ultra 950 case...5 couger 120mm hd bearing fans, 2 front intake,1 bottom intake,2 top exhaust (all green to mach my decore) 1 200mm side intake that came with the case (changed the blue led to green to match)1 120 mm mem fan, h60 in push pull exhaust in the back so I have good airflow..1200w ultra modular ps added a 60mm thin fan to the mb side of case to intake to the backside of the chip.16gb gkill sniper 1866 c9 (see review),sabertooth 990fx r2, 2 zotac gtx560 overclocked, sli

4 out of 5 eggsHighly recommend, but...

Pros: This thing can beast through anything! Was running a game at 1080p AND recording at 1080p 60fps.

Cons: HOL-Y INFERNO BATMAN

I have a Corsair 120mm closed-loop liquid cooler with fans attached to each side of it. If I overtax this CPU for more than a couple minutes then the temperature will sky-rocket. I didn't realize this the first time around and it reached 82 degrees Celsius and froze there.

Other Thoughts: Get more than adequate cooling for this thing, make sure to flash update your BIOS before installing. Will save you some time.

Only 4 stars for the cooling issue, otherwise this thing is perfect.
