5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU, quite fast, hot

Pros: I've spent awhile with the CPU now, so far the experience has been great. Have if paired with the Asus Formula-Z board, overall works great, have had no issues with it whatsoever. On my rig, overclocked to 4.75ghz scored a 8.07pts on Cinebench. Very respectable. As for overclockability, I've been struggling to push mine up to 5.0ghz without really stepping up the voltage, others can get it up there quite easy, a lot of it depends on luck and the chip you get. Anyways though even at stock runs fast and takes anything I can throw at it. As for price comparisons to a 4770k, it runs slower, costs a bit less. I got it on a deal for $250 so that is what really sold it to me. Run intel and AMD in the past, I really buy what is in my price point and offers good value, with the liquid cooler included that is what sold it to me. The temps idle around 40c and go up to about 50c under load at stock, but this depends on how you configure the fan speeds in the software included with the cooler. Overall cooler is nice and quiet, works well, solid quality, very pleased with it.

Cons: Runs hot, the 220w tdp inst a joke. Id recommend getting something smaller if you live in a small room, and make sure you case has adequate airflow yadda yadda yadda. Hesitant to drop an egg just for running a bit warm, since you can configure it to down clock aggressively to save power.

Other Thoughts: Really deserved a 4.5 out of 5. But gave 5 eggs anyways since my experience has definitely been great.

4 out of 5 eggsFast but terrible Stock Cooler

Pros: Incredibly fast CPU for the price. Handles any game I throw at it, plus running Teamspeak, Pandora, Firefox, FRAPS, etc etc. Played Metro Last Light full settings with this baby + 7870 XFX 2GB.

I also have 16GB of memory.

Cons: Power requirements. I didn't even know that my old motherboard, which was an Asus Sabertooth 990fx -- not old at all!! -- would not be able to handle the 225w power requirement. I had to upgrade my motherboard. This information is on Newegg, but I feel that it's not in big enough warning letters with flashing neon lights and blinking arrows. Seriously. I have never had to upgrade a motherboard because my CPU required more power.

The stock cooler is absolute bunk. Don't buy the bulk package. I had to buy a Corsair H90, which is solid. Idles around 25 Celsius.

Other Thoughts: Would have bought the CPU alone if I knew the cooler would be so bad.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat when it worked

Pros: The liquid cooling system works like a charm!.. Quiet and you can really ramp it up if you need to blow off some steam.

Cons: Burned up with no OC what-so-ever... only lasted about 3 months under normal use. Just outside of newegg's RMA so now I am stuck with a processor/liquid cooling system I paid $300 for and can't even use the $200 CPU.

Other Thoughts: I have an HAF 932 case with excellent air flow and I clean it regularly.
Mobo: MSI 990FX - GD80 AM3+ socket
No reason this chip should have failed after 3 months of normal use.
Just outside of NewEgg return policy. Always been a big fan of AMD processors. Just sucks to get a raw deal like this. At least the cooling system still works great but I may go for intel from here out.

5 out of 5 eggsas a gamer and heavy multi-tasker, this thing is amazing.

Pros: free water cooling, outperforms my Cooler Master Hyper N520
Extreme performance for my needs.

Cons: doesn't grant wishes
does not taste very good

Other Thoughts: I run six displays over 3 GPUs. Rather than an ultra-wide setup or eyefinity thing, I just use a 55in screen for gaming/primary, and the rest host chat/monitoring/email/browser/etc. In a work from home enviroment this makes it very easy for me to jump from gaming to research to working to chat and back... I do not like alt tabbing.
My previous architecture was an APU as I was on a budget. While this performed very well and even gamed decently for the price, I had waited some time to upgrade as it meant a new mobo, new socket type, new cooler, and no onboard video backup.
But... the second I fired my system up, the difference between this and a 4 core setup was just mind blowing. Nothing I threw at it could slow it down.

It was a great buy and I'm super happy with the performance vs the cost.

2 out of 5 eggsFan Arrived DoA

Pros: Best bang for buck, excellent processor, water cooling system is great if you're not going to be heavily overclocking

Cons: Fan on the water cooler arrived 'clicking' -- bearing already went bad. Just tried emailing ASETEK to see if they will send me a replacement 120MM fan.

Other Thoughts: Hoping ASETEK or AMD sees this so we can get it resolved for when I finish my build...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Very fast processor. The install of the supplied water cooler was a bit of a hassle, but not hard by any means.

Cons: Heat, heat, heat. This processor runs very warm at stock speeds, even with the water cooler. At complete idle for 1 hour, temp is at 35 degrees. Under load it jumps quick.

Other Thoughts: I tried overclocking a bit with this cpu. I only raised it to 4800 and the idle temp rose to 47 degrees. I think I'll wait to get a better cooler before I go any further.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performer

Pros: Runs cool and without issue. Even under heavy prolonged gaming it has no heat issues. I have it paired with the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 under CF in Win 8.1 and the performance is extremely stable. Boot time is near non existent.

Cons: Nothing to report.

Other Thoughts: If you set up your system with the right hardware, heat is not a issue and performance is flawless. I built this system specifically as a gaming rig and have not been disappointed. Bought for $219 on sale, with $65 gift card ended up spending $155.98.
I did change the push /pull fan setup with 2-CM Excalibur's. This added to the excellent temperatures and the overall quietness of this system. I am presently building a custom water cooling system that will cool the CPU and both video cards and will repurpose the water cooler that came with this CPU.
