5 out of 5 eggsE6850

Pros: I have this installed in the 790i ultra motherboard. Comes clocked at 3.0 ghz. and I have it clocked to 3.71 ghz. stable 24/7 on air using the core contact freezer cpu cooler. Tried it at 3.8 ghz. but BSOD. Idles 40 degrees celsius and load is 50 degrees celsius. Not bad for a 65 nm chip with a 710 mhz. overclock. Rips through all games with tri sli gtx 280 except of course for crysis.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: For the price and the overclock you can achieve on this cpu, it is well worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsDefinitely compares...

Pros: Stands up to the E8400 and might even be a better overclocker.

Cons: None apparent.

Other Thoughts: The E8500 is definitely nicer, but that's to be expected.

5 out of 5 eggsChip is great.

Pros: Chip is great and got it on sale of NOV of '07. O/C'd to 3.4ghz on stock cooling. Was stable at 3.6 with stock cooling but wasn't too comfortable with temps.

Great price at the time. Even better deal now for budget rigs.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel does it again!

Pros: This processor is very fast at 3.0 ghz and the price has come down considerably.

Intel makes better processors than anyone else

Stays strong and will not let you down

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Dont waste your money on a quad processor exspecially if your a gamer. Games aren't even accepting quad processors. So go with the speed and reasonable price on a high GHZ core 2 duo like this.

5 out of 5 eggsHeres a trick

Pros: I have the 6600 running for 2 years overclocked to 3.0 1333 FSB.
This processor is so good I ran the original thermal grease until it got bad and dried up one me. The proc. ran on bad grease for about 6 months. I was a little lazy about it. Just re-applied the grease and the proc. is up and running at same specs without a hiccup. This is with the stock heat sink.

Cons: None. An incredibly stable and strong bull dog of a proc.

Other Thoughts: Here's a trick for installing the stock clips on this heatsink. Pull the feet off and stick them into your motherboard. You know, the ones with the 2 clips on the bottom.

Now line up the heat sink with the marrying parts to the pegs in the MB. Then just do one corner at a time.

Makes an incredibly solid connection and you don't have to keep fiddling around with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor!

Pros: Screamin' fast on XP.. very good performance on Vista. Doesn't get smokin' hot :)

Cons: hate the flimsy plastic-connectors on the Intel heatsink.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure about the performance of the heatsink, as the case I put mine in required me to get a lower profile one (Zalman). It's the happiest I've been with an intel processor.. and I've owned a lot of them!
