5 out of 5 eggsalmost too sturdy

Pros: Purchased in 8/2007, hoping to get a solid CPU that would last a few years. Lasted just over 7 years; and the end came from a failed CPU fan and not the chip itself failing.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Wonderful Processor 6+yrs

Pros: I purchased this processor 1/8/08 as a upgrade and it has never missed a beat. My home computer was built entirely from NewEgg items and has lasted now since 2002. It has worked so well I have not wanted to change a thing. One upgrade to memory and processor in over 12 yrs!

Cons: Not a single con or complaint! Works as well after 6yrs continuous use as it did when new.

Other Thoughts: Always wanting better faster computer & now after over 12yrs with same one its time for another. For sure this one will still be in use until it dies.

5 out of 5 eggs5 Years

Pros: This CPU has run strong and never skipped a beat for 5 years straight. I tend to do heavy Modeling and Gaming with this CPU set up and its more than paid for itself. Heavy use of Photoshop, Alias and the Mass Effect series this CPU performed admirably!

Cons: None for the time frame used Just time for an upgrade!

5 out of 5 eggsStill a solid chip

Pros: Just passed 5 years 8x400 @3.2 and stock voltage
42K hours on the excellent stock Sanyo Denki fan, one of the best you can get.
Idle temps remain around 82F and peak at 130F

Cons: Zero, this chip is rock solid! 5 years and 42K hours overclocked.

Other Thoughts: Stock heatsink and fan with AC applied works great so those who complain must have done something wrong.

Abit IP35 pro
Mushkin 4-5-4-11 @800, rock solid and stable.
Corsair 650 professional

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Too many. I've had this running for almost 5 years without any problem what so ever. Runs cool under custom fan. Have never overclocked because I've had no reason to. Runs everything I've thrown at it without any problems. These things are so good I just bought another one with a slightly lower processing speed (E6550- 2.33Ghz) for a NAS box.

Cons: Not an I series but more than you need for today's programs and games.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this processor. They can still be bought just not here and because they have been on the market for a few years as you can see, they are cheap to get. This cpu can be picked up for around $65, which is I believe 25-35% of what it cost years ago.

5 out of 5 eggsWHY WONT YOU DIE!!!!!!!

Pros: This thing takes a lickin' and wont stop tickin'. All of my former PC's blew out after a few years, which was great so I could upgrade them. This thing blazes through anything to this day, D3, WOW, Skyrim, Fallout III, all on max settings 1080p. I can't justify upgrading it since it's still the fastest PC of anyone I know. Purchased Jan-2008 4.5 years ago!

Cons: It's gonna be hard to find something that is as good

Other Thoughts: I want a new I7, with all the fixin's, but this thing is too dang fast for me to want to touch it. Coupled with a gigabyte mobo, and 2 gig's of memory. I switched out only the hard drive an video card since buying.

5 out of 5 eggsStill the best

Pros: still amazing after 6 years of abuse

Cons: what cons?

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my build back in 2006. Its now may of 2012 and i'm still using the same machine. Everyone always asks why im still using a socket 775. I built a PC for a friend of mine running an i5 cpu and this chip still hangs strong...if not stronger than the i5. And any AMD chip? hahahah right. Pair this with a good video card and solid mobo and youre golden for years to come. I swear it will not die no matter what I throw at it. INTEL FOR LIFE.

Pros: I have own this CPU since it came out i have it OCed to 4GHz on air i have punished this thing since the day i took it out of the box and it refuses to die still after running this CPU for 6 years it has yet to miss a beat

Cons: stock fan heatsink replace asap

Other Thoughts: GO INTEL

5 out of 5 eggs5 years on, still feels fast

Pros: I built a high end system back in 2008 and today it still feels quick and responsive. I do everything with this machine, work, game, server, it's always on. Friends and guests use this computer on occasion and the comments are always the same..."Man this thing is fast" I have a an MSI P6N and 8GB ram. One could argue it's getting long in the tooth, but I am thrilled with this CPU. It's still no slouch even as I contemplate an Ivy Bridge upgrade. It's lasted 5 years, and has never felt slow, and I work it hard.

Cons: Nyet.

Other Thoughts: Will move it to a secondary PC with no hesitation. Resale is nil, but is still fast. Will definitely live on in the kids computer.
