5 out of 5 eggsHas done everything I asked for over 4 years

Pros: Works, could play all the games I wanted to play in 2008, and continued to play games fine until late 2011, when some titles required turning down settings to keep CPU usage down.

Cons: I couldn't afford the quad core when I bought this :).

Other Thoughts: This is the CPU that won me over to Intel's side after previous bad experiences with AMD (which I had used to support the local branch of that company). Not even looking at AMD processors for my next build, so I guess that says it all doesn't it?

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME CPU

Pros: oh wow i dont know where to start, This thing will handle anything. Runs cool, runs fast and alot more. I overclocked mine to 3.15 easily and still runs cool with the stock heatsink. With this i dont even feel like i need a quad core anymore.

Cons: Its not free

Other Thoughts: I use my pc for gaming and this cpu is the heart of my system.
Core 2 Duo 2.33 OC @ 3.15
EVGA 750i For The Win SLI mobo
PNY 9600GT in SLI
4 GB ddr2 ram
This system can handle crysis and keep it at a good 60+ frames with maxed out settings. But i dont run a super high res.only at 1280 x 1024

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: I will pretty much swear by INTEL corp. They have never disappointed me in any way. with a raptor HD windows had loaded completely in about 15 seconds. Looking forward to getting a higher paying job to get a VelociRaptor later in life.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsINTEL E6550

Pros: MANY PEOPLE SAY THIS IS A CPU FOR MID RANGE SYSTEMS. I BEG TO DIFFER, IVE NEVER HAD ANY HANG UPS, AND WHEN MULTY TASKING THIS THING DOES GREAT. DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM INSTALLING THE FAN, ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. I HAVE NOT OVERCLOCKED IT BUT MIGHT IN THE FUTURE BUT IT PLAYS ALL THE GAMES I OWN WITH EASE. FOR THOSE OF YOU TRYING TO GET A RIG TO PLAY CRYSIS, THE GAME LOOKS NICE, BUT THE PLAY SUCKS. A GAME WITHOUT LOOKS AND STORY IS TRASH. THIS PROCESSOR IS GOOD FOR 90 PERCENT OF PC USERS AND GAMERS. MOST GAMES AND APPLICATIONS DONT EVEN USE THE DUEL CORE ARCHITECTURE EFFICIENTLY ANYWAYS SO WHY GET SOMETHING MORE EXPENSIVE AND FASTER WHEN WHATS ON THE MARKET WONT DRAW FROM THAT EXTRA BOOST!

Cons: NONE, INTEL SHOULD MAKE A NICER LOOKING FAN, BUT CPU MANUFACTURERS NEVER TO THAT!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Works Perfect. Never crashes or overheats. I have overclocked it to over 3 ghz just for fun, and it didn't seem to care. Plays UT3 (my only game) just fine.

Cons: The stock fan is audible. Not annoying, but I like a quiet rig.

Other Thoughts: DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2R \ Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz \ Corsair DDR2 800 XM2 \ 2 Radeon X1600 pros in Crossfire

5 out of 5 eggsCheapest non-budget dualcore

Pros: 4 MB cache. And of course, dual cores. Supposedly easily overclockable, but I run stock. (I emphasize long service life.)

Cons: Not quite enough to conquer Vista overhead, still stalls at times of heavy processing. Maybe only a quad can do that. Then again, maybe nothing can conquer Vista overhead.

4 out of 5 eggsGood mid-range processor

Pros: This is a good standard processor for anyone looking to build a mid-range PC. I bought this one over a year ago, works great. Run plenty of games--yes, some on lower settings (like crysis), but what can you do with the economy these days

Cons: The fan clips are a little flimsy, might recommend getting something aftermarket.

Other Thoughts: My specs (not much these days)
E6550
Geforce 8600GT
2 GB mid range RAM.

Run crysis on medium settings, 1024X768 at about 35-45 FPS.

5 out of 5 eggsIdeal

Pros: Flawless
Runs extremely cool
Fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU to use in a Media Center PC. It has run 24/7 for more than a year now. It has been used frequently to perform high CPU-usage multimedia tasks such as encoding/re-encoding media files and it's still running like a charm. It generates very little heat so I was able to be creative on the case and cooler that I selected for it. (big issue when your PC is on display in your living room.) Don't hesitate to pick this one up.
