4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very inexpensive and made my older machine quite fast.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The only ding is that the instructions were useless. it only shows you how pin 1 works. I spent a little time stumbling before I figured out I had to remove the motherboard and then the processor mount from underneath the motherboard for the celeron fan before i could mount the fan for this processor. After that everything was great.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocks Well

Pros: I've got this baby up to 3GHz and it still runs under 50degC. I added the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and like I said, it overclocks really well.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Buy this and just overclock it to higher proc speeds so you can save money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood CPU for budget PC

Pros: Much faster than any CPU in price range.
Has many features that make it a good fit for power users.

Cons: Slower than most other Core 2's.

Other Thoughts: This would be perfect for any budget PC

5 out of 5 eggsNice Processor

Pros: A low-heat, low-wattage and capable processor that works the way it's supposed to.

Cons: A real grind to install the stock heat sink. I paid less for this one than it's listed at today, but I suppose that's a "Pro". Aren't these things supposed to go DOWN in price over time? I bought mine in May '08.

A somewhat decent video card makes this processor seem like overkill at its current price listed here.

Other Thoughts: I gutted my old but still very cool Compaq case and replacing all the old AMD hardware with faster, cooler running Intel hardware. Much of what I do is the basic computing, though I do play Oblivion whenever I get some free time. Processor speed seems to be an afterthought after a certain point when you're running Windows XP. In Vista, who knows?
So much seems to depend on "realized speed" instead of "actual" speed. The video card has much to do with it. I'm using a CHAINTECH GSE86GT-A1 GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail which cost less than 70 frog pelts ;)...

..and 2 Gb ram, and this "Frankenstein" system runs Oblivion much faster and more stably than than my 20" iMac 2.1Ghz with 3Gb ram in boot camp which uses an ATI X1300 video card does. I expected the speed to be more comparable, but the stability issues surprised me.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid performer

Pros: Price:performance. 2mb of cache isn't a bottleneck... I've had an E6600 with double the cache and they seem to perform the same.

Cons: The E5200 is faster and cheaper, but this cpu is still viable. The stock fan will work for many, but my apartment is too hot this time of year and even with the stock fan at 100% my temps are pretty mediocre.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried to OC this chip since it's resting in an Intel made board that doesn't offer any OC features.
Get an aftermarket cooler even if you aren't gonna OC... just to be on the safe side.

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the Price

Pros: May not be anywhere near the best, but for the price - excellent. Runs EQ2, BF2 & bf2142 at the highest game settings w/o OCing anything with no problems

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased on May - 08. Upgraded from an AMD 64 3000+ 6800GT & XP OS to Vista Pro 4GIG Ram, 8800GTS
