Amazing
- Pros: Everything, I have this running in a asus rampage formula with a XIGMATEK HDT-S1284EE 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler and get the x bracket for a solid install.XIGMATEK ACK-I7753 Retention Bracket For 4 heatpipes model only.Memory is G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1200 (PC2 9600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory with an evga 280 vidio card. This baby runs @ 4.1ghz 32c under load. WOW. It maxes out 4.5 at 4.1vcore but I run 1.3vcore with loadline calibration disabled. I swore I would never leave AMD but this machine has won me over. It takes anything I throw at it and never goes over 40c unless I do the Intel torture test or prime 95 then 50c.I set the evga card to run at 75% fan speed with the evga software and runs at 42c and the maching overall is pretty quiet in my thermaltlake xaser tower.
- Cons: None, but I was so impressed I bought a dell laptop with a 5700 core duo with onboard graphics. They do not provide an option to add a vidio card. How stupid is that, I expect more out of such a reputable company. Besides that I love the laptop with the soft red studio cover
- Other Thoughts: You can't go wrong with this cpu. Price vs gains is unreal. You have so many options tuning this for that kind of price I can't beleive it. I just love it and have never been so satisfied with a processor.
Intel C2D E8600
- Pros: Have a Intel C2D E8500 in one system built a while back, and did not want to go to a I-7 system build for now, but wanted to build another system just for gaming using this E8600. Not disappointed, this CPU is fast! Wanted a good mid-range gaming system, so I built one around this chip. Fast for all my gaming needs!
- Cons: None, Very satisfied with this CPU.
- Other Thoughts: Built using Intel E8600; ASUS P5Q MB; G Skill Tridents 4GB DDR2-1200 (PC2-9600); ASUS EAH 4870 DK 1G Dark Knight VC; Zalman 120MM CNPS 9900LED CPU Cooler; Corsair CMPSU-750TX 12V 80 Plus Certified PS; W-D 5001AALS 500 GB 7200 RPM 32MB HD; all housed in a Cooler Master RC-690-KKKN1-GP Black with seven Cooler Master R4-C2R-20AC-GP 120MM Case fans, and One Evercool-EC80 15MM 12CA 80X80X15 fan pulling heat off the backside of the MB on the right side of the case. Air flow is fantastic and temps are 14c on CPU, 27c on MB, and 37c on video card. Very pleased with this CPU and system build all purchased through NEWEGG.
ITS FAST!
- Pros: Whoa, my computers booted up already?
- Cons: ...
- Other Thoughts: I went for this cpu instead of the i7 because the way i see it, having a quad core would be awesome for when your installing all your programs on a new system. But after that do you really multitask that much? I'd rather go for speed

Introduction
With the Wolfdale core, Intel pours more power into the Core 2 Duo package. The 45nm process allows Intel to reduce power requirements to 65W. Lower power means less CPU heat, which translates to lower system heat and longer system life. They also pack more features into the chip.
The L2 cache has been bumped to 6MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1333MHz. You can now use both DDR2 and the hot new DDR3 memory for extreme performance. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These technologies work together to let the processor handle more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out -- your enemies will be shooting back faster now!
The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost, to give your entertainment experience better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Most important of all is the enhanced security that comes with increased speed and encryption power.
Highlights
Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes dual execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications simultaneously, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough energy efficiency and exceptional system response time when running multi-threaded applications, or multiple demanding applications. The innovative 45nm fabrication technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from the fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and overall improved performance.
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease the average power consumption and heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST provides an excellent balance between supplying power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas of the memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code into the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows for the creation of unique user environments for different family members who are using the same platform simultaneously.
