Best of all, the 4MB of Intel Smart Cache gives you blazing speeds you never realized were possible. The Integrated Memory Controller optimizes data bandwidth with support for dual-channel DDR3 memory. Experience the convenience, versatility and power of Intel Core i3 processors today!

  • newegg Intel HD Graphics with Clear Video Technology Intel HD Graphics Technology provides a visually stunning experience optimized for HD video without the need to add an external and costly graphics card. Intel Clear Video Technology is a combination of video processing hardware and software technologies for a wide range of digital displays which delivers enhanced video playback, sharper images, and precise color control for a premium visual experience.
  • newegg Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller With the integrated DDR3 memory controller, the Intel Core i3-550M enables two channels of DDR3-1066/1333 memory, resulting in up to 21 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Plus the memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Intel Hyper-Threading Technology delivers thread-level parallelism on each processor resulting in more efficient use of processor resources—higher processing throughput—and improved performance on the multi-threaded software of today and tomorrow.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production, which means of enabling very high performance while also meeting the power-conservation needs.

5 out of 5 eggsPower for value

Pros: Extremely Cheap an very powerful. Can run games like Fallout 4 and Shadows of Mordor without a problem.

Cons: Hard to find a reasonable price LGA1156 socket Mother Board.

Other Thoughts: This process ran better than my AMD FX-6100 as far as gaming goes.
I Purchased two refurbished units for $20 Killer deal.

5 out of 5 eggsso happy with this processor

Pros: got a windows experience of 7.0 out of the box. overclocked to 4.2 ghz (1.3 v) and got a 7.3. very stable at 4.2 ghz but haven't explored much beyond that. oc'ed runs 31C idle and 58-60C at full load with the cooler master hyper 212 evo push only.

Cons: only 2 cores and i knew this going in, but at the price and my usage it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: i've had this processor since 2011 and still using it now every single day. for pc gaming, i play mostly older ones or ones that aren't too demanding (gta: sa, miami hotline, braid, fez...) and it works fine. but where this overclocked processor shines is pcsx2 emulation. with this i3 out of the box, the emulator works but you need some tweaks and speed hacks to make things run smoothly and not everything runs (ex: mgs2 will have tons of slowdowns and dropped frames and low video quality for soc). with an overclocked i3, it chews everything apart. it can run mgs2 at high resolutions at 58-60fps, very little slowdown or dropped frames.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: -Nice clock speed (3.2 GHz)
-Easy to overclock
-Good for most games (except for Watch Dogs!)
-OK fan for an average computer
-Still effective in 2014
-Low power usage

Cons: Slowly outdated with 2 cores

Other Thoughts: Speed up my computer; upgrading from my mediocre Pentium G6960. Nice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Low Voltage Overclocking!

Pros: Default voltage specified as 1.265v on box, but mine will do 4.0 GHz (24x 167fsb) with just 1.216v, and 4.3 GHz with 1.248v, easily under the thermal limits using the stock heatsink/fan.

Cons: Not a con for this CPU, but note that this is the last of the overclockable i3 series chips from Intel, as the newer generation (Sandy Bridge & Ivy Bridge) i3 processors unfortunately cannot be OC'd.

Other Thoughts: Nice price, OCs easily, does SuperPi 1M in ~9.7sec. @ 4.2GHz, runs cool with stock HSF, great gaming performance when paired with a midrange GPU (such as a GTX560), really can't imagine a better price:performance ratio than this.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing CPU

Pros: Just an amazing CPU. Period. Currently have clocked 4.3ghz @ 1.33v paired with a Auss P7H55-M Pro board. Stays between 50-53C in prime under an old Zalman CNPS9500 with decent airflow. I really can't say enough how impressed with this CPU I am. Even though its a dual core, this baby will devour most games you throw at it, only MMOs and flight simulators would this have an issue with. And even then, if you can get it to 4ghz, you wouldn't really have that much of a problem.

Cons: Can't give 6 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I haven't owned a Intel product since an old Pentium III 1.13ghz Tualatin. But I can honestly say I will be switching back. Comparing this CPU to all my AMD cpus that I have had over the year, none have even come close to the i3-550s rare power at stock, and overclocked.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Quiet, and Cool

Pros: Very Fast and it stays very cool with stock HSF.

Cons: It is so fast, i have to run to keep up with it.
