  • newegg Fully Unlocked Flexibility and Freedom With its fully unlocked multiplier, the Intel Core i7-2600K processor allows full control over the processor core/turbo and DDR3 ratios as well as power and current limits for the best possible overclocking results. It also allows for processor graphics overclocking for improved 3D performance. Intel’s cutting-edge 32nm micro-architecture with 2nd gen Hi-K+ metal gate process delivers the 2nd generation Intel Core processors with higher performance at lower power, thus better overclocking capability. (Intel P67 Express Chipset required for core and memory overclocking, and Intel H67 Express Chipset required for graphics overclocking.)
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 More intelligent, energy-efficient, and dynamic than previous generation, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 gives you accelerating performance when you need it. It delivers an even greater automatic speed increase by allowing processor and graphics cores to run faster than the base operating frequency for demanding applications if the processor is operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.
  • newegg Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Intel Hyper-Threading Technology delivers thread-level parallelism on each processor resulting in more efficient use of processor resources—higher processing throughput—and improved performance on the multi-threaded software of today and tomorrow.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller Integrated memory controller enables two channels of DDR3 1333 MHz memory, resulting in up to 21 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Plus the memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Amazing 4 Years Later!

Pros: 5GHZ on Air!

Cons: Uhh....I have no reason to upgrade?

Other Thoughts: This is the best CPU Intel has ever made. 4 years of running at 4.7GHZ on air 24/7 stable with 5GHZ for benchmarking and it's still going strong. Sure Haswell overs about 15% clock for clock improvement, but it doesn't overclock as well as this good old Sandy Bridge. Honestly, I miss getting excited over new CPUs though since there has been nothing worth getting excited about in years.

This CPU can join the ranks of the Q6600 as one of the truly greats.

5 out of 5 eggsNo sign of fatigue after 4 years

Pros: 1- I've been doing a 10% of overclock since 4 years in a row
2- Still having no issue
3- Come from a generation where CPU Heatsink were numerous!
4- A lot of room for different approach of overclock
5- Hyperthread which is useful when multitasking and can be disabled when needed to get more performance in some games.

Cons: 1- It was very costly at the epoch

Other Thoughts: Despite its cost, it is the best and more reliable CPU i've ever owned and it still being great in 2015.

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU I've Ever Owned

Pros: By far, the best CPU I have ever owned. It resides on a ASUS SABERTOOTH P67 (REV 3.0) motherboard, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 fan and 32GB of GSKILL RAM. The system is phenomenally fast, stable, cool, and uses less electricity than some of my older AMD systems. I can overclock if I need to, but in the time I've owned this system, no need.

Cons: I really can't think of one. Obviously, it is on its way to obsolescence. That's about the only con.

Other Thoughts: I've had this for about 3 years at this point. Initially, I was shopping for an AMD CPU, but when looking at the reviews and benchmarks for this CPU, I decided to get one and make an Intel system.

I use the system for cracking, light gaming and some video editing.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this CPU

Pros: Fast.
Heatsink included is good enough for normal usage.

iGPU is pretty good for a 3rd monitor running strictly 2D stuff.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to this from a 4200+, this CPU is an amazing leap in performance compared to that.

I do a lot of gaming, video editing, encoding, and 3D/CAD work with this.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I"ve had this processor a number of years and never had a problem with it so far. It is still performing as it did when I bought it and it's performance is fantastic. To the person who's having sluggish performance with it should look somewhere else.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsSilicon Lottery!

Pros: * After 3 years ownership this baby is rock stable.
* With my NH-U14S I can easily run it at 4.8Ghz without any voltage tweaks. Temps can touch 70c when gaming but barely. Stress test with Prime95 will make it creep into the 75's but I've yet to see a game that stresses the CPU like Prime95 does. ;)

Cons: * Even with the i7-4790k I can't justify an upgrade since depending on the silicon lottery I might not surpass the performance of my old 2600k.

5 out of 5 eggsThe BEAST !!!

Pros: This is truly a beast! I remember i bought this and never had the need to OC, it just that i had a newegg steal i bought below the not K version. Two years have passed, heavy media production rig i have still no need to OC.

Cons: None, the best.

5 out of 5 eggsHands Down The Best

Pros: -Amazing longevity, still a performer after 3 years of ownership
-Still can max a ton of video cards without being the bottleneck
-No crashing, no driver issues, doesn't run hot

Cons: -Costs a whole lot
-LGA 1155 means upgrading options are simply not there

Other Thoughts: -If you are in the market for a CPU that can be upgraded over time to stay current, then this is not for you. This is a tried and true processor, and as such, upgrading on an old platform will be minimally beneficial. With that being said, if you want stability, performance, and don't plan on riding the "new stuff" wave, then this thing is STILL for you.

5 out of 5 eggsMoney well spent

Pros: Bought this CPU back in 2011. Actually paid less then than it costs now. This chip has been rock solid through alot of hardcore gaming. Handles any new title I throw at it like a champ. I have it overclocked to 4GHz and do not get any temperature problems with air cooling.
Intel's finest chip ever IMHO.

Cons: Its more expensive now that it was then.
