5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: FAST
Unlocked
runs quite cool

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU for my Hackintosh build over a year ago. Since I bought it I've had it running at 4.2ghz, its cooled by a Hyper 212+ (idle 30c, load 65c). 0 Problems and this thing literally handles everything I throw at it. I do a lot of movie editing and encoding, this thing is a CHAMP.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I give this processor my highest recommendation. I bought it in February of 2011 and it has been running almost 24/7 ever since. Its performance still leaves nothing to be desired.

Cons: I look forward to building myself a new computer every two years or so, but this processor has stubbornly failed to become even a little bit obsolete, so I'm relegated to upgrading hard drives and video cards for now. What a bummer. </sarcasm>

5 out of 5 eggsBest Processor I've Ever Owned

Pros: * Still working (2 yrs)
* Stable 4.5ghz like nothing
* Cold (with aftermarket cooling) 62C / 143F under load

Cons: * None

Other Thoughts: * I bought a 2600k and Asrock Extreme4 back in 5/2011. With experimenting I was able to overclock it to 4.5ghz at 1.385v. Idles at 35C, Load at 62C. To this day the overclock is still running solid. Used with Arctic Silver and Zalman 9700.

5 out of 5 eggsi7-2600k

Pros: It lasts, I've had it for over two years now, and it wasn't a DoA. I have not OC'd yet because so far there is no need to. 7.7 on the windows ratings without OC'ing. Very fast and reliable with 4 digital cores to tag on.

Cons: Runs a little hot with my ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

Odd because I have a good case and fans

5 out of 5 eggs4.9 GHz Awesome (read pros)

Pros: Has everything a non-gamer and gamer alike would need.

Integrated Graphics can run some less demanding games BF2 and such.
Also with the right configuration can be used in tandem with a pci-e graphics card as a secondary display port(i.e. pci-e running 3monitor surround and integrated graphics running tv for media, performance monitoring; etc)

Hyper Threading for all the video encoding and for games that support it. As well as virtually making this quad-core a eight-core.

I have had this processor for 1 1/2 years now and its still going strong.

I originally had a arctic cooling freezer 13 pro CPU cooler on it hard to say what the temps were since im doing this review about 1 year after I replaced that with a Corsair H100
now I run at 4.9 Ghz @ 45-50 degrees C. I can say before the H100 I would easily overheat and hit 80+degrees C almost instantly attempting to overclock above 4.2.

Windows Performance Index still rates the processor at a 7.8 out of 7.9

Cons: Only con i can think of is that this processor still goes for $319 and the newer gen ivy-bridges arent much more if not the same price and give you a better integrated graphics if you into that. as well as pci 3.0 capabilities(with the proper hardware)
Also they consume less power and are give better performance and lower overclocks. but i suggest doing some homework to see if that investment is really worth the boost and if you are actually going to be utilizing those extra "bells and whistles"

Other Thoughts: Fast, Reliable, Still hangs with the best of them. team this up with a good liquid cooling system and you got yourself an amazing machine.

If your looking to upgrade your CPU without buying the best of the best and spending more on an entire build this is the cpu for you.

Dont skimp on the mobo(body)cpu(brain)psu(heart) of your pc and anything else goes. gpus get changed all the time and thats the only other thing you would want to invest in but only if your a gamer or graphic designer.

5 out of 5 eggs1 Year Owner

Pros: Amazing processor. I have yet to max it out and im a gamer. Does everything i ask of it, without showing any slowing down.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Although i didnt buy this off newegg myself. My friend who bought it did. But he ended up changing his mind about building a gaming computer so he sold this processor to me for 150.00. Well worth it. So thats why i descided to give it a review :)

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost 2 years later the value has still held its place

Pros: One of THE most efficient CPUs ever made. Throw anything at it and laugh away because this has workstation capability while still being the top contender in gaming.

I overclocked this bad boy from 3.4ghz to 4.2 ghz on a Zallman 92mm aftermarket fan with great stability. I would push it farther but I'm happy enough as it is.

At a price tag of $320 my sole intention was to future-proof myself for a minimum of 3 years. I'm almost at the 2 year anniversary and nothing has made me question that it won't make it to 2014 because by golly it sure will.

Cons: Not really a con but should I have waited til Ivy Bridge? My answer to that question is no, at the time I would have had to wait another 9 months before I could buy my PC. The technology gap isn't nearly significent enough for me to have waited.

Other Thoughts: My rig:
Rosewill Challenger Case **modded acrylic clear case window with blue cathode lighting
MSI Military Class Z68 mobo (idk what edition)
Western Digital 500gb HD black edition 6gb/s sata
6GB (3x2gb)DDR3 Corsair memory <---one of the fastest and most efficient memory combos for the $$$
Sapphire ATI HD7850 1GB graphics card with dual fans
HT Omega Claro Halo 24-bit 192khz sound card
HPdvd1260 DVD-RW burner
Logitech MX518
SteelSeries QCK+ mousepad
Asus 21'' 1080p widescreen 2ms response time
