  • newegg Fully Unlocked Flexibility and Freedom With its fully unlocked multiplier, the Intel Core i5-2500K processor allows full control over the processor core/turbo and DDR3 ratios as well as power and current limits for the best possible overclocking results. It also allows for processor graphics overclocking for improved 3D performance. Intel’s cutting-edge 32nm micro-architecture with 2nd gen Hi-K+ metal gate process delivers the 2nd generation Intel Core processors with higher performance at lower power, thus better overclocking capability. (Intel P67 Express Chipset required for core and memory overclocking, and Intel H67 Express Chipset required for graphics overclocking.)
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 More intelligent, energy-efficient, and dynamic than previous generation, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 gives you accelerating performance when you need it. It delivers an even greater automatic speed increase by allowing processor and graphics cores to run faster than the base operating frequency for demanding applications if the processor is operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller Integrated memory controller enables two channels of DDR3 1333 MHz memory, resulting in up to 21 GB/sec memory bandwidth. Plus the memory controller's lower latency and higher memory bandwidth delivers amazing performance for data-intensive applications.
  • newegg Built-in Visuals (with H Chipset) The visual features built into the 2nd generation Intel Core processor family deliver everything you need to enjoy a stunning and seamless visual experience. Intel Quick Sync Video and newly-added Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) make media processing incredibly fast. New built-in Intel HD Graphics delivers discrete 3D graphics performance without the needed cost and power of a discrete graphics card, and features Intel Clear Video Technology than enhances video playback, image quality, and color fidelity for a premium visual experience. What’s more, add another dimension to what you see on your PC with Intel InTRU 3D technology which supports stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray playback in full 1080p resolution over HDMI 1.4.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter 4 years, no problems and no bottlenecks

Pros: Overclocked to 4.3 Ghz with only push/pull fans on each side of coolermaster and it runs at 40c. Still sells out 4 years after it was produced so that speaks for itself.

Cons: Nothing

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cpu

Pros: I have had this for 4 years with NO issues and it's still going strong
Great value
Hold up well with no overclocking
Great for gaming

Cons: Not for sale anymore

Other Thoughts: I know a review isn't very helpful as you can no longer purchase this cpu but I wanted to come and say how great it has been for me for almost 4 years now. The Intel Core i5-6600K that was recently released is the first cpu since I bought the 2500k that has made me think of upgrading.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Have had this processor in my machine for nearly 4 years and never even overclocked it & it still performs like a champ. The i5-2500K still remains to this day one of the best CPU's ever marketed that provided the best bang for the buck. Glad that I had purchased two of these along with two compatible MOBO's and other components back in 2012. Have had no need to upgrade to anything since. Handles all the apps I run and games that I like to play flawlessly.

Cons: No longer sold.

Other Thoughts: Overclocking capability has always been there for those wanting to do it, but I never had to do it, as everything performed excellently at the stock speed of 3.3 GHz, so I never bothered with overclocking.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome choice - great CPU

Pros: Best CPU for the money when I bought it in 2012.

As of December 2015, it still is capable of playing all new titles, most recently Crysis 3, Wolfenstein The New Order, Far Cry 3, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, Black Ops 3.

Never had overheating issues. Spent 35 bucks on a non-stock cooler like CoolerMaster Hyper T4.

It's still going strong.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Best processor I ever bought. Worth every cent.
