5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU for the price!!

Pros: Maintains very acceptable temperature lvls due to an interesting heat sink design. I average between 85f and 110 under high use. I haven't messed with OC or anything of the nature because I haven't found any need to. This CPU is the best bang for the buck.

Cons: Plastic clips hold it to the motherboard. After a long time of use with temperatures rising and falling I know this will become brittle and eventually break or wait until cleaning or general maintenance to break. But for the money, by the time I need to do any of that stuff, I'll most likely be upgrading anyway. :D

Other Thoughts: Switching to a more secure clip system would benefit this CPU for LONG term use. Other than that, nothing really.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speed, no need for OC

Pros: This processor is blazingly fast right out of the box. Install was easy. Only had a slight issue with aligning the pins on the heat sink with the holes on my mobo, but that issue was resolved in less than 10 minutes. The fan on the heat sink is quiet, but still provides quality CPU cooling, combined with the heat sink itself. CPU idles at about 20C, and has peaked thus far at 35C. My system runs very cool in general.

Cons: There really isn't any that I can think of. Only minor issue was as mentioned before with the heat sink install, but that wasn't anything to dock an egg over, by any means.

Other Thoughts: This processor is extremely fast right out of the box. I see no need to OC this, so there really isn't a need for the K-series. This processor will deliver at a reasonable price. And it will smoke anything AMD has on the market right now.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgraded from i3. Results below.

Pros: Compared to anything, this is pretty much the "goto" processor next to the 2500k. Performance will not disappoint, the i5-2500 is more than enough power for today's gaming and probably will be great for it for the next 3-4 years. Going from an i3-2100 to this, my system overall felt snappier, I can imagine going from a C2D or a Phenom 1 to this would see a huge difference.

Cons: I upgraded from an i3-2100. As proof that the architecture of sandy bridge is very fast, I saw very little improvement in GPU intensive games. CPU intensive had higher minimum framerates, like starcraft 2 but, nothing to write home about. My 3dmark11 score only went up by 200+ points, mostly for the CPU tests. For right now, the i3-2100 is about a good as i5-2500 for most games, not worth knocking an egg but, just leaving this there for anyone who thinks of doing the same.

Other Thoughts: My primary reason for upgrading was for video editing/producing. Thankfully, it was worth it, I can preview, encode, edit video with less hang time and much faster production time. A two minute HD video took 1:51 to produce, now only 1:05! An i7 would have been faster but, probably not worth the extra $100.

Pros: Excellent CPU, very pleased with the performance.

Cons: Installation guide only had pictures, so the CPU Fan was a little hard to install properly (First time building a computer)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Solid performer. I have no interest in over-clocking it so no need for the K version. Quick Sync transcoding works great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Installed in an Asus P8Z68-V LE. No issues.

5 out of 5 eggsAll I'll ever need

Pros: This thing is plenty fast for gaming and pretty much everything else. I'm an AMD guy but I figured its time for me to stop blowing my money on a brand that lags far behind Intel. Don't get me wrong, AMD's get the job done, but I got tired of my games lagging. I was using a Phenom II X4 820 with 4MB of L3 cache, and it wasn't bad, but when I got a HP DV7 w/ a 2nd gen. Core i5 and 1GB ATI card and it basically crapped on my Phenom II Desktop I had.

Cons: Too expensive. I'm sure it doesn't cost that much to make these things, especially with underpaid outsourced labor. I bought this because its just better than almost anything out there, even an 8-core AMD Bulldozer which costs about the same as this does.

Other Thoughts: I'm planning on keeping this CPU and not building another system for a few years, just because this CPU is so powerful. Most video game requirements still recommend the Core 2 Series and Athlon 64 X2 processors.

5 out of 5 eggsPerforms as advertised

Pros: Great for a midrange build.

Cons: If you want to tweak for overclocking, get a K variant.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little CPU

Pros: Works great, stays cool. Great for the price.

Cons: Only gets a 7.5/8 on windows ratings, but if I wanted a better rating I'd get an i7 with more cycles/second.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Stable,Awesome

Pros: Runs everything you throw at it without a hiccup.
For the last 6 months BF3, Teamspeak, Firefox, Chrome, iTunes, plus an SOF2 server all running simultaneously Friday nights and this thing hasn't stuttered once switching between applications or loading another while they are running. A feat that used to tax my OC'ed Phenom II 920 BE

Always been an AMD fan, however the glory days of a cheap overclocked AMD's kicking the butts of overpriced Intels ended when the i7 came out. Sandy bridge architecture has made it that much more competitive since now you can get this much active processing power for only a couple hundred dollars without the need to OC.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It's not a K, so OC pretty much out of the question. Even with an easy OC board (paired it with a GA-Z68XP-UD4) it would only pull 3.7 before start up issues would occur. I knew it would be an issue, however i had to try... just for fun.

The rig:
i5-2500
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4
16 gb Ripjaws @ 7-7-7-21
Twin Powercolor HD5850 PCS+'s in Crossfire
64gb Crucial M4 SSD (OS)
150gb WD VelociRaptor (Games)
750gb WD Cav Black (Media\Storage)
