With the 2nd generation Intel Core i3 processor, you get built-in visuals that offer a rich and exciting set of capabilities for a stunning and seamless visual PC experience with no additional hardware required. Also featured is Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, which enables each processor core to work on two tasks at the same time, giving you smart multitasking performance to move between applications quickly and without hesitation. This is where to start for visibly smart performance.

  • newegg Fully integrated Microarchitecture on 32nm Process The Intel microarchitecture codename Sandy Bridge is an incredible leap in processor integration and manufacturing introduced in the 2nd generation Intel Core processor family. Manufactured entirely on Intel 32nm process technology, Sandy Bridge unifies processor cores, memory controller, last-level cache (LLC), and graphics and media processing. Such tight integration enables a host of performance and efficiency improvements, including fast access by cores and graphics to shared data in the last-level cache to accelerate graphics processing, fewer buses over which data and signaling must travel for faster processing, and more memory bandwidth for the cores to boost system performance.
  • newegg Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Intel Hyper-Threading Technology delivers thread-level parallelism on each processor resulting in more efficient use of processor resources—higher processing throughput—and improved performance on the multi-threaded software of today and tomorrow.
  • newegg Intel Smart Cache Intel Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from faster, more efficient cache subsystem resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Built-in Visuals The 2nd generation Intel Core i processors integrate a suite of technologies built right into the processor that deliver stunning visual experiences. Intel Quick Sync Video is breakthrough hardware acceleration that makes fast work of creating, editing, synchronizing, and sharing your videos at home and on the internet. 5 out of 5 eggsintel

Pros: intel, efficient, powerful for the price, stock cooler is fine for a basic build

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I should have got an e3 or one without the integrated graphics but the price difference was only about $25 so whatever. The thermal capacity is probably a bit higher on this chip because it's got the graphics that i am not using. It's in a small 2RU server.

5 out of 5 eggsstarcraft 2

Pros: ok, i got this thing to run as a full time VERY cheap server, that i could use VERY quiet and low power cooling. this is something that i wanted to be extremely reliable, cheap, low power, and low noise. it fulfilled this. that was a year ago. today i use it to do general office computer stuff on and play starcraft 2. it does this flawlessly as well. i have startcraft 2 on the low settings, but the frame rates are like 150 fps when the game starts, and like down to 20-30 when it is full game and the most number of units on a map of 6 vs 6 (the most players ive been with at a time). keep in mind i do not have a separate graphics card. i do not overclock. i have 16 gb ram on a small form motherboard. this thing is quiet. it makes my keyboard seem really loud. i have a 22" lcd monitor hooked up to it via dvi. i notice lag and other issues and they VERY annoying. i would not have kept this system if there was ANY lag. i have dumped 3 old hard drives in it each 500 gb. this is not a high cost system at all. but it does everything i want. i am pleased. i just had my corsair 750W psu die on me. that made me sad. i spent money at a local shop to get a new same day asap... but with the new one, the system is working great again. highly recommend the cpu.

Cons: i wish it had the graphics 4000 version, but when i bought this from newegg a year ago, this was really available for cheap.

Other Thoughts: i noticed the price of THIS cpu has remained the same as when i bought it...

5 out of 5 eggsgood value

Pros: installed easy in my new build, heatsinks are slightly better than old ones though this does run hotter than my i5 I put in a build the same day. if you don't need a monster this will handle your load.

Cons: heatsink is tiny compared to i5s, but seems to keep it cool (ish) 50 C under full load

5 out of 5 eggsSimply perfect

Pros: Bought this along with an Intel DZ68DB motherboard which includes Displayport, HDMI, & DVI outputs on motherboard so I didn't even have a need to buy a video card. I'm using DisplayPort on 1080P resolution to an ASUS LED monitor and HDMI 720P output on another Samsung LCD monitor in extended desktop mode. This processor handles multi-tasking without a twitch. Task manager shows the CPU load never goes above 20% and stays below 10% most of the time. I do graphic design with Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended 64bit, Maya 2011 64bit, run Outlook for email, listen to Pandora online, download software for work, use Adobe Bridge and some various software applications for website development. Under heavy load, processor will reach 30% in task manager and linger around there. Simply beautiful how much stress this processor can handle without stuttering or lagging or any issues whatsoever. Highly recommend it.
Core i-3 2125 LGA 1155
Intel DZ68DB Mobo
Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3 dual channel mode

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: love the processor. Simply cant beat this reliable strong performance for the price that it's at, highly recommend it.

And i'm an IT networking certified tech so for my personal builds, one can imagine how picky and well designed IT pros demand for their personal machines. For the low price of this thing, it's a no brainer perfect choice when you dont feel like spending over $300 for a similar spec i5 or i7 which will give you barely noticeable higher performance.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet lil CPU

Pros: HD 3000 graphics
65 watts
3.3 yet turbos to 3.7 GHz

All makes for a cool running and quite HTPC

Cons: Can't think of any

Other Thoughts: I have this on a MIcro ATX Gigabyte Z68 MOBO with 8 Gigs of 1600 Ram. Speedfan reports highest temp is around 100F, which will climb to 115F if I'm doing any transcoding. Whisper quite system

5 out of 5 eggsbang for the buck

Pros: The hd 3000 onboard graphics performs well enough to have no problems playing call of duty 4 on full with gpu mark consistently over 410 on passmark 7.0, runs cool, I love it. An i3 2100 on steroids. I get cpu marks of over 4400. I bought my cpu thru an hp parts wholesaler for $75.00 so I got a little better deal then most but if its on sale or bundled its a great buy,low power requirements also reusing an old emachines case with 350 watt power supply $75 cpu 75$ asus p8h67 $22 sata dvd $6 eps adapter $50 corsair xm3 8gb $60 2x 74gb raptor 10000 rpm in raid0 = cheap little screamer @ over 1800 on passmark

Cons: wish they had a k series i3 2105 or 2125 i would have got a z68 board for that, will have to buy a new500 watt + power supply to have enough juice to run an $125 or more graphics card to get better gpu scores than i get right now

Other Thoughts: I would like to try the i3 2105 if it gets down around $110

3 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: Bought a while ago from a surplus site, expected a lighweight powerhouse. This thing works good, but not for the money. I had an AMD A8-3850 built and I decided to upgrade to a brand new i3 with a graphics card, but when I heard it has HD 3000 I decided to see how it would perform before buying a card.

The only thing I really like is the 65 watt TDP (35 watts under the A8)

Cons: CPU outperforms A8 in a few things, but the HD 3000 is frankly trash. YouTube 1080p works smoothly about half the time, graphics work 30%-40% slower than the A8 when playing games, and CPU benchmarks are scoring 10% lower in most cases.

Not only do you need a card (+$60), but you need to pay $30 more than the A8.

Other Thoughts: Buy an i3-2100 with the cheaper HD 2000 graphics and just pair it with a GeForce GT 400 series or a Radeon HD 6600 series.

4 out of 5 eggsHD 3000?

Pros: It's Sandy Bridge.
What more needs to be said.

Cons: It says in Neweggs ad, and on the Intel packaging of the Core i3 2125 Processor that it has Intel HD 3000 Graphics. That being said, why does my CPUID/CPUZ report that it has HD 2000 Graphics? I feel cheated. I bought this processor specifically for the better graphics solution.

Other Thoughts: Also on CPUID/CPUZ in the first description of the processor calls it a Core i3 2120, but then in the second description (on the same first tab <CPU>) calls it a Core i3 2125. Are we actually getting what we're paying for or is this just a re-labeled Core i3 2120?

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great CPU, 3.3ghz and HD3000 graphics chip. Perfect for SFF general purpose PC.

Cons: Graphics driver issues. I really want to -1 egg for this, but I wont since its only a driver issue and not physical.

None of the newer drivers allows me to use onboard HDMI on my asus H61 mobo. I kept the driver disk from a previous build which has an older driver that does allow using HDMI. Driver version 8.15.10.2291 is the one which allows me to use HDMI. anything newer = bluescreen.

Other Thoughts: Despite the driver issue, which is minor because the machine is up and running this chip is great. very fast, more then enough for what this PC will be used for.
