5 out of 5 eggsAmazing CPU

Pros: Fast
Hyperthreading
Stays cool

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I ordered this in 2011, been running it on my gaming rig ever since. It's chewed up every game I've thrown at it and I've never had any problems with it. These things are powerful and bulletproof.

5 out of 5 eggsLegendary.

Pros: This chip is just that, legendary. Its the next q6600 and this is why.

It was manufactured with a fluxless solder, which is where they solder the die to the lid. Ivy bridge and later chips use cheap thermal paste instead of this superior manufacturing process. Delidding and replacing the paste with a decent compound is the only way to provide comparable temps. Got mine at 4.7ghz at 1.32v, never breaks 60c under load on my cheap h60.
Just an monster chip that I feel will stand the test of time.

Cons: None, other than one day when i'm old and grey, i'll have to replace it.

Other Thoughts: A true "They don't make them like this anymore"

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: The fastest Sandy Bridge CPU and can be overclocked, I've since replaced my primary desktop with an i7-4700k and a second PC with an i7-4771. Both of these newer Haswell CPUs are only slightly faster than this Sandy Bridge i7-2700k

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU but terribly over priced.

Pros: This CPU easily overclocks to 5+ghz on air IF you know what you are doing. Paired with a high end motherboard and graphics card, there is nothing it can't handle.

Cons: This isn't a con of the CPU but, I paid $229 for my 2700K. The price Newegg is selling it for is ridiculously high.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU but not worth $350 bones.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: I have been running this CPU for about 5 months and am still amazed at its speed. I was fortunate to find one on a major auction site for $250.00, brand new still
in the sealed box. I have it oc'ed to 4.4 gig which seems to be the limit of my motherboard (a two year old budget Asus board) It never exceeds 68 degrees even when running Prime 95 for a long period of time. I am running a CM Hyper 212 for cooling, I can't see myself upgrading at any time soon because this thing seems to run circles around what I have read about the newer CPU's without all of the heat issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish I could have bought one much sooner but prices were prohibitive for my budget.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Monster

Pros: It has everything you need. Intel has to release something really incredible to make Sandy Bridge worth upgrading from because I've had the 2600K (2700K replaced it) for 26 months and it HAS NOT slowed down.

Cons: Nothing except, maybe that it doesn't support PCIE 3.0, but good luck bottlenecking 2.0.

Other Thoughts: Man, this really is the best series that intel ever released. It did a great job of replacing the original i7s and it hasn't had any competition since.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Runs all my games with no issues. Easily manages anything I have tested so far.

Cons: The heat sink it comes with is really cheap, but I was already going to use a different one.

5 out of 5 eggsoverclocks great and stays cooler then ivy bridge

Pros: overclocks to 4.5Ghz at 1.31 volts with temps ranging at 55-59 Celcuis full load with a Thermalright Silver Arrow Cpu Cooler. My room ambient temps range from 86-93F. I have an Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard my options for overclocking it in bios is Load Line Calibration set to Standard, if set to Medium temps go up another 1-3 Celcius with no extra benefits in benchmarking so left it at Standard. Cpu Current Capability at 130%. Dram voltage dropped from 1.65 to 1.63 on my Corsair Dominator 1600mhz ram. CPU PLL Voltage set to 1.731 and the rest of the settings left enabled or auto. If you want 4.6Ghz you need to set Load Line Calibration to Medium, CPU Current Capability to 130% and CPU PLL Voltage at 1.731. The CPU volts needs to be at 1.325-1.328. On my motherboard CPU Voltage is at +.010 for 4.6GHZ Internal PLL Voltage needs to be set to Enabled. CPU PLL voltage can be messed with some to lower your overall CPU temps, maybe 1.68-1.69 volts might be lowest you can go.

Cons: none. You might need a Gold Series or Platinum Series Power Supply for more stable overclocking as the voltage drops down less frequently then a cheaper bronze series power supply.

Other Thoughts: asus z77 motherboard bios version 1805
Corsair Dominator 1600mhz 8 8 8 24 triple channel ram 3 x 2GB sticks
Intel 520 series 120GB SSD
Asus GTX 670
Seasonic x760 Platinum Power Supply
Corsair 500R case

5 out of 5 eggsI'm in love

Pros: this cpu is AMAZING. owned for 15 months this girl never quits. it runs empire total war like swiss cheese. i got it with some 1333mhz ram (i need an upgrade on mobo) and a water cooled 560ti 2gb. guild wars 2 and runescape never put cpu above 55c. i have my cpu also watercooled by a single 120mm fan with a 5 fan push/pull air setup. only trouble i've been having is my computer freezing with mozilla at times... errrr.....

Cons: security is something i'm going to have to study for in college so I can just protect my computer by my own merit

Other Thoughts: i really need a motherboard upgrade, what good is a beast if it can't be overclocked, and is bottlenecked by poor memory? good chance i'll be buying a pair of 650ti's or wait a year.
