With the Wolfdale core, Intel pours more power into a Core 2 Duo package. The 45nm process allowed Intel to reduce the power needed down to 65W. Lower power means lower CPU heat, which translates to lower system heat and longer system life. They also packed more features into the chip.

L2 cache has been bumped to 3MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. You can now use both DDR2 and the hot new DDR3 memory for extreme performance. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These combine to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out; your enemies will be shooting back faster now.

The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost. This will give your entertainment experience a boost with better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Perhaps most important of all will be the boost to security with increased encryption power and speed.

  • newegg Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes dual execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications on separate cores, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough processor energy efficiency and exceptional system response when running multi-threaded or multiple demanding applications simultaneously. The innovative 45nm dual-core technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
  • newegg Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

5 out of 5 eggsVary Good

Pros: I run this at about 3.2Ghz and I have only had one thing go wrong and that was a power thing. I play online games and run a OC VC and CPU and leave my ram alone and my old OC Power supply went out under the pull but the CPU is still kicking. Id never go with any one other than Intel and Newegg.com is the place to get it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Chip

Pros: Fast

Cons: for what it is, none

Other Thoughts: Had for a year now, just decided to upgrade my cooling and overclock it to get some more performance. Have it running at 3.5 ghz stable, no sweat, could have gone with more but my northbridge on my horrible p31 board was getting too hot. Probably wouldn't purchase this right now thought, since you can get into an I3 setup for the same CPU cost and 775 is dead. But if you are looking at this chip to drop into an older board, this chip at the right price would be the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsWHOOOSH! FAST!

Pros: - Works fast, easily overclockable, works like a king.

- This makes look most i3's look obsolete.

- Even without virtualization tech it's great.

- Overclocked to 3.5 GHZ without a problem, very stable.

Cons: - Not the best processing in the world, when I produce after I put around 20-25 vst's in one project it starts to take a heavy load.

Other Thoughts: - I'll miss this when I upgrade to a Quad Core.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Working great. I have no need to overclock it, and running at the stock 2.8 I've had no problems.

Cons: I can't fit my hand in the Pringles container. They should make the cans bigger.

5 out of 5 eggsStill room to grow with stock cooling

Pros: Running strong on a 1+ year old build at 3.4GHZ using stock cooling in an HTPC case!
Asus P5Q EM mobo
G Skill 4G memory at 400mHz at 4-4-4-10
Nvidia 9800GT

Cons: more cache would be nice but it's to be expected at this price point.

Other Thoughts: Speedstep really saves this processor by clocking it down when idle

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Runs great. I toggle between my desktop and games seamlessly. The fan it comes with is barely audible. I'm running this in a little Shuttle bare bones build (tight case) in my living room and I never even think about the computer when it's not in use (it sits on a shelf connected to a projector). When in use I've never heard the fan sputter, wheeze or get obnoxiously loud. Installation was easy. Haven't played with overclocking it - haven't had a need to. Computer has been running XP for 6 months without shutdown and haven't had a crash or slow down.

Cons: Occasionally, maybe once every couple of hours or so, a game will slow down for a few seconds, but I'm not sure if that's the processor's fault, seems like more of a video card issue.

Other Thoughts: My machine is primarily used for playing movies and online games and while it's idle 24/7 it only gets used about 10 hours out of the week.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal for what it Costs

Pros: the price, and it seems to be working well. google the processor and you can find videos made by intel on how to install the processor. I did this when I was trying to figure out if I needed extra thermal goo. Considering this is my first build - I was paranoid about following ALL the directions.

Cons: the instruction manual was only pictures.

Other Thoughts: I am average for tech knowledge IF you include everyone. If one were to exclude the laypersons - comparing me to a technician is like comparing the average karaoke singer to Cher.

4 out of 5 eggsworks great & oc's nicely as well

Pros: was amazed at how easy it was to OC this. I pushed it from 2.8 to 2.94 with very little effort. believe it or not the stock HS & Fan work just fine.
Its low profile design so it has ample room in a smaller case.

Cons: be careful with the CPU Fan it comes with, the fan wire was wrapped around it and I heard a horrid clicking till I realize the fan wire was being clipped by the Fan. ha ha ha. could of been harsh if the fan cut the wire.

Other Thoughts: i got some extra silver thermal grease just in case. the oversized OCZ cooler I bought was too big for the case! lol the Stock HS/Fan worked fine for my case. Can't believe how small these LGA 775 processors are...

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU!

Pros: Fast and sleek. Very nice CPU. I am very pleased with it.

Cons: If i could give it four and a half stars i would. The only problem is the junk heatsink attachments. But other than that everything worked out fine!

Other Thoughts: BUY ARCTIC SILVER!! This was my first build and i had no idea of arctic silver. So, I didn't buy it. With the lack of arctic silver, I had to under-clock my CPU to 1.5 G Hz just to keep the thing form melting! I basically can't run my machine now until i get some of the stuff. Rookie mistake, I know, but I think that the heatsink has something to do with it as well. Might want to look into a aftermarket heatsink, just for the heck of it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: this thing runs cool on stock clocks! (idk if its just because im used to i7 temps) decent speed and i got it for like 115 a couple months ago so prices have actually went up

Cons: just a dual core.. if building a personal computer that you will be multitasking on and plan to have more than a year or two i would highly reccomend getting a 1366 or 1156 socket system just because thats the way the memory and mobos are moving towards these will be out dated spend that extra $100-200 really what is that 1 or 2 days of work

Pros: More cache. Came clocked at 2.4.

Cons: I had to buy a newer mobo cause my older board didn't support this chip.

Other Thoughts: I was going to OC this chip and got a board that had lots of features to do it but after I got it together and stable it was so fast I didn't bother.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job, but a bit hard to get heat sink & fan secured

Pros: It seems to be adequate for the purpose - I'm using it for a home server for the 5 pc's and 3 laptops my family and I use.

Cons: I don't know if the problem was with the CPU's heat sink/fan unit or if it was with the MOBO, or both, but the 4 posts that are used to secure the fan/sink to the MOBO were hard to get inserted and secured properly, and took several tries to get done. Not a huge problem, but that is why 4 eggs and not 5.

Other Thoughts: We've got 5 PC's and 3 laptops in in our house and in talking to a neighbor (who has a home server and has experience with building several PC's) I was convinced it was the best way to go...to build one as well - there are way too many advantages with having a home server not to. I've never build a computer before. I've never even had one opened up. No matter...how hard could it be? So with my neighbor's input I got a list of the basic components needed and then came to NewEgg, checked out the reviews and ratings, made a wish list that my neighbor reviewed, and then I made the order. NewEgg did a great job with the delivery - it got here when promised and everything was well packed. My son and I, with the neighbor's coaching, got the server built, WHS installed on the server, the connector software installed on all the PC's, and set up the server folders and file backups in about 4-5 hours - all of it was surprisingly straightforward (with coaching), and nothing to be afraid of.

4 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Dell Dimension 5100

Pros: Seems like a great processor from the specs (never got to see it perform). The included fan seems robust enough.

Cons: This processor is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DELL DIMESION 5100.
Thermal paste is included... on the bottom of the heat sink. This was my first time buying a processor a la carte and ended up with a big ol' thumbprint right in the thermal paste. Luckily I also ordered a tube of Arctic Silver (a little goes a loooong way, btw).

Other Thoughts: Nice packaging, wish Dell would publish more info about their motherboards but I guess that couldn't rake people over the coals as easily if they did that. My next desktop will be built from scratch (I knew better whe nI bought the Dell but didn't have the time to build one at that time so I went the lazy route). Maybe I'll build one around this shiny new Core 2 Duo paperweight I own now. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGood chip but terrible cooling fan

Pros: very fast on win xp sp3.

Cons: the fan and heatsync were terrible. I have a Cooler Master Elite 310 with one 120mm fan in the back of my case and the processor is overheating while the system is idle. If you want to use this processor, BUY A SEPERATE HEATSYNC.

Pros: I have had this cpu for a little over 6 months and it plows through everything I throw at it. It handles Win7 with no problems .aeros beautifully not to mention music editing software as well and editing photos at the same time.
OF COURSE MY HAT OFF TO NEWEGG FOR EXCELLENT SERVICE AS ALWAYS.

Cons: Why 3 Meg of Cache? This Cpu clearly want to do more but limited to the size of cache.

Other Thoughts: Will not go back AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks nicely

Pros: My last Intel cpu lasted 8 years and still going...so I expect similar excellence.

Cons: You need to buy a better heatsink/fan... the standard one that comes with it is not sufficient. Intel even stated it isn't enough. They may have fixed this.. try intel website and find info on this one. The cpu is at risk of overheating or melting if you don't buy a better one.

5 out of 5 eggsOC results

Pros: Gigabyte P35-DS3L motherboard with F9B BIOS

At stock 10.5 multiplier = 3.51 GHz speed
-------------------------------------------------------
Vcc = 1.30
FSB = 335
NB = .1 volt increase
multiplier = 3.2 = 1072 memory speed
Intel Burn Test v2.3 (standard, 5 pass) = 22.9 GFlops

At 10 multiplier = 3.60 GHz speed
-------------------------------------------------------
Vcc = 1.31
FSB = 360
NB = .1 volt increase
multiplier = 3.0 = 1080 memory speed
Intel Burn Test v2.3 (standard, 5 pass) = 23.2 GFlops

So for a little more power it runs stable at 3.6 GHz which is a 28.57% overclock so I'm happy. Could probably go higher if I was willing to increase Vcc more but then power consumption and heat would go through the roof so this is a good balance for me. This is my main work horse computer so I run it almost 24/7 and it rarely faults (Windows XP Pro SP2).

Cons: Not a quad core, retail heat sink is a joke and should always be replaced (so what else is new), no unlocked multiplier but we all know that. Today, AMD now has triple and quad core CPU's that work better for same or lower price.
For Example, got the AMD Phenom II X2 545 and Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H combo for $cheap$ and was able to unlock other 2 cores and at stock 3.0 GHz speed Intel Burn Test shows 29.2 GFlops performance and Windows 7 gave it a 7.2 rating using the built in ATI 4200 video and 4GB of G.Skill 1066 ram.

OC'ed to 3.6 GHz running Intel Burn Test this cpu heats up to 78°C which causes Core Temp .99.5 to change the temp color indicating I'm borderline overheating. According to Core Temp TJ max = 100°C so I'm not in danger of a cpu meltdown but it is hot at 100% load on both cores. Fortunately I'm not maxing out the processor very often and at idle I get 39°C to 40°C on the Scythe cooler.

Other Thoughts: System specs:
--------------------
Scythe Ninja Plus rev. B (6 heatpipes, 120mm fan)
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with F9B BIOS
4 GB (2 x 2GB) G.Skill 1066 at 5-5-5-15-48 timing
ATI 4850 (512MB) PCIe video
WD 640GB SATA2 hard drive (black label = 32MB cache)
600 watt SeaSonic power supply
20x DVD drive

You must get an after market cooler and make sure you have extra case fans. I'm using an Antec Sonata III case and have added a 2nd 120mm 2100 rpm fan up front to supplement the back 120mm case fan to keep everything running cool so plan accordingly and you will have great OC'ing success.

4 out of 5 eggsThermal issues

Pros: This thing works like a charm, the 8400 was almost $50 more for a slight increase in power. The overclocking is limited somewhat but i'll explain below

Cons: The heat generated from the CPU I got was amazing, idle at stock it was at 48c, whicle my QX9650 was 30c, are you kidding me? When I went to 3.4GHz from the 2.8, it would be in windows 5 mins and shut down from heat.

Other Thoughts: I dont really think its defective but I registered it just incase. Also, the cooler I use is just a 80mm cooler from thermaltake, not TOO high end but its not like the basic ones that come with the CPU. If you dont plan to overclock then I would get this for how cheap it is

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU..for me

Pros: Nice CPU...i used to have a Celeron 440..it was nice also, i could play San Andreas and WoW and it was good..the only thing i could run was the PS2 emulator PCSX2..i wanted to play FFX but not it didnt run it.

Now i Have this baby and i can run every app and game i want at a great speed..as for the PS2 emulator, it can run it at full speed but there's an issue with the graphics( this obviously has nothing to do with the cpu, of course)..You see. I have an MSI 8500GT 512MB, which is gonna be replaced by a stronger card in two months, so getting back to the cpu, it is simply one of the most affordable and impressive cpu's on the market.

I dont worry too much on Crysis and games like that..i only like GTA4 and i can run but of course I need more graphics, so my next issue will be a high-end nvidia series 9 video card.

Cons: Well, compared to my older cpu( celeron 440) this one make a little bit more noise...but it's not a big deal..i understand i'm getting 10 times the power i used to have before.. so i'm happy...i think i will upgrade next year when the i7 drops its price.

Other Thoughts: I should've stolen 50 dollars..so i could've gotten the E8400..but my local currency is 3 times weaker than the dollar. i hope dollar drops so i can get really nice stuff :)
sorry american buddies.. :)

Pros: Excellent for the price. Runs great on Vista 32-bit and will be even better on W7 when I get it.

Cons: Hot, the CPU fan is cheap, but since it comes with it I expected that. I'd say if your going to get this CPU, get like a 10-30$ CPU cooler. I havn't had any PROBLEMS with heat, but I don't like to worry.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Processor

Pros: I love the new heatsink and fan designs, very quiet and low profile. This processor is fast and easy on the wallet. It runs well in any game, and doesn't slow down to a crawl when unzipping large archives or burning big video projects to dvd.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It has been out awhile and there are newer, and better processors for the price I paid 8 months ago.

4 out of 5 eggsFAST. STABLE. but...

Pros: OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE! FAST. This thing is all about speed and multitasking! Intel did a great job on this processor. The only thing is...

Cons: The included fan SUCKS! This fan is the noisiest fan I've ever heard on any install, I believe it is due to "dragging" on the heatsink. It literally sounds like it threw a bearing.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU. Included fan is A BIG minus. So i had to give it 4 stars. I rarely do that with items I like.

5 out of 5 eggsLow-wattage, but high horse power

Pros: I purchased this for an HTPC. I wanted something low-wattage, but with plenty of horse power for DVD ripping and HD playback. This CPU was the ideal match. I am running Windows 7 32-bit (RTM), using Imtoo, and it tears right into a DVD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Runs great with Win7 64-bit.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Having a heatsink included in the retail version, with compound preapplied is a great convenience. Some complain about temps 39-41 deg, but these are perfectly acceptable. Buy a third party heatsink if you want, and *maybe* you can reduce the temps slightly, but why bother? And without testing both, how can you be sure an expensive heatsink reduces the temps at all?

Pros: Right out of the box this processor is blazing fast. Easy to install, Easy to overclock

Cons: The heatsink and fan alone do not suck off enough heat. Have a well ventillated case, and buy arctic silver compound to bond them together. Consider buying a larger heat sink and fan for this processor

Pros: This is one of the best processors I could put in this PC and it works just fine.

Cons: It is not really a con, but I installed this to replace a 3.2 Ghz Pentium D and I really expected more of a performance increase. From the benchmarks I ran, I'm only seeing about a 4% increase and the Vista Experience Index actually went down which disappointed me. If your running on a budget, you may want to think about a high-end Pentium D. A lot cheaper and only a little slower.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Chip

Pros: Good chip for good price, always cool even when i scraped off my thermal paste when i rma'd my MB, both cores stay around 35-40 idle and 50-60 under 100% load.

Cons: not really a con if it was only gaming computer but when i drag a window on my desktop, it lags alot, but it could be because im using dell windows xp sp1 from 4-5 years ago because im a cheapo =). also just get aftermarket cpu fan the one it comes with SUCKS and the heat sink looks like it can melt so easy

Other Thoughts: Didn't want to overclock yet, easy to overclock with biostar MB but when i do oc it, i want to have water cooling, because i only have aftermarket cpu fan and one working case fan, and OC as much as i can.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor for the money

Pros: Fast, compared to what my bro had. Not to expensive for an Intel brand. I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking to upgrade their old system.

Cons: None really. We tried to overclock but the PC won't have any of it. Not Intel's fault, though. Probably should get a non-stock fan.

Other Thoughts: Bought this a little over 3 months ago and this thing kicks A. This is a replacement for my bros old AMD Athlon 2000+ system. He now has: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz, XFX GeForce 9800 GT 512MB, 250GB SATA II HDD, 2GB Kingston HyperX PC2 8500, Foxconn P45A-S, 700w OCZ StealthXStream PSU and a NZXT Guardian mid-tower case.

2 out of 5 eggswhy no thermal grease?

Pros: fine chip nothing wrong with it at all. I just rate it low because you really have to go out and buy a teeny bit of thermal grease before you can do a proper install.

Cons: Why, when they include a fan with the chip, does intel not inclde a small one use tube of thermal grease?

Do they want you to not use it so that you might overheat and burn out the chip, thus needing a new one?

Pros: -Runs fast enough at stock speeds, and seems like it'll be a nice overclocker.
-Came with a cooler...I'll be sure to replace it as soon as I can, though.

Cons: -Installing the stock cooler...I thought I was going to snap my motherboard!

Pros: Built this PC back in Nov 2008. Use it for some gaming, but mostly for astrophoto image processing with PhotoShop, MaximDL, etc... Runs very well. I did try to OC it, but that led to weirdness, so set back to default.

Cons: None really, other than it cost over $200 back then, and now it costs less than half.

Other Thoughts: Now I'm looking at building a new PC to process my 16MPx files for my new astronomy camera and the i7 chips are monstrous, so I may have to go back to AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Value vs. price. Quick enough for most everything I do including popular games.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Put it in my Dell Studio with no issues. Used the original cooler. Middle-of-the-road processor that will suit most folks well. I'm happy.

4 out of 5 eggsDarn you and stuff

Pros: Works great and runs cool. It's an amazing step up from my old P4 with hyperthreading.

Cons: I didn't fully read the specs before i decided to buy it.

Other Thoughts: No Virtualization Technology.
Next time i'll go with an AMD build, maybe a Three core one that is hackable to the full four cores.

5 out of 5 eggsbest bang for the buck

Pros: Why spend money on more expensive cpus when you could buy this, slap on a zalman cooler, and overclock it to 3.4 and up without a hitch and still be ice cold. Calculating pi to the millionth decimal place in 14.9 secs is fast enough for me.

Cons: Stock cooler has those funny feet things, attaching a cooler from both sides of the mobo is much better in my opinion.

3 out of 5 eggsHave Foresight

Pros: I agree and support most of the 5-egg comments. However...

Cons: The boxed version of the E7400 does NOT support Intel Virtualization Technology. This has created some disappointment for me because I am not able to run the XP mode (RC) of Windows 7. Hopefully, XP mode is only a transitory tool allowing for legacy programs to run as intended on a virtual OS within Windows 7... For instance, I attempted installing Gizmo5 desktop today for VoIP in conjunction with Google Voice. The installation was unable to complete, dialog window indicating that the software is only supported in Windows 2000/XP and above... I should note that I am more disappointed with the software developer than Intel... nevertheless, I assumed this degree of CPU to incorporate such technology.

In brief, simply keep in mind that if you foresee the need to run legacy software in the future and want the latest OS, you may save yourself great disappointment by getting a CPU that supports Virtualization and therefore Windows 7 XP mode.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Fast for a dual core. Easily overclocked to 3.0 on stock voltage. 1066 FSB and 3mb L2 cache.

Cons: Stock heatsink is not good. CPU idles at 41C.

Other Thoughts: I do wonder if the temp sensor is not working correctly as Real Temp always shows 41C and it never changes. Still a pretty nice processor for the price. I would not expect a better heatsink as the one for the E8400 was not better either.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly cool

Pros: Everything, literally.
Runs cool, even if overclocked.
Leaps and bounds better than the P4 I upgraded from.

Cons: Nothing, at all.
I do see people having issues mounting the fan.
I had only a minor issue with it, being one of the feet was slightly squished, so it could slip in and out of the mounting hole rather easily, but it was really easy to fix.

4 out of 5 eggsleave out the heatsink next time

Pros: waiting on my mobo(dg41rq).Will let you how it goes.Oh, Newegg thanks for the speedy delivery.

Cons: Is the heat sink Intel's idea of a sick joke? It's like putting a cooling system from a Fiat in a F1 race car. Plz leave it out, because the first thing ppl will do is go and buy a REAL heat sink.

Other Thoughts: using an Intel DG41rq
G-skill ddr2 800
Star Tech heatsink

Don't plan on using the on board audio and graphic for very long. Here's looking at you newegg ;)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU/Horrible Heatsink

Pros: Very fast and stable CPU
Bargain

Cons: The Heatsink/Fan on this is very cheap.
Do not even bother installing this, do yourself a favor and get a separate Heatsink. There is very little metal to begin with, no copper, small fan, little thermal paste.

Other Thoughts: I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Heatsink, very cheap around $30

5 out of 5 eggsGood processors

Pros: I bought a dozen of these - all worked perfectly. I think in the 25 years I have been working on computers I have only ever encountered three bad CPUs from Intel. Always buy Intel CPUs and you'll never go wrong.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wear an anti-static wrist strap when installing that kid! (I'm a computer science teacher) :)

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, annoying heatsink fan

Pros: CPU was fine - clock speed was as rated.

Cons: The heatsink on this is an absolute pain to install, at least with my ASUS P5QL PRO motherboard. The plastic pins would not sit well and I had to try quite a few times, putting alot of tension on the motherboard in the process. I would be *very* careful when installing this heatsink.

4 out of 5 eggsgood deal

Pros: great processing power for the price

Cons: the included heat sink fan was a little sticky (sometimes it wouldn't spin up and it would make a clicking noise); but a little lubrication to the fan solved the problem

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great value, runs fine at stock settings, and overclocks well.

Cons: Despite my initial thoughts, it did not make me waffles. I was severely disappointed. And hungry.

5 out of 5 eggsE7400 Core 2 Duo

Pros: The Price!!! Especially when you compare it to other core 2 duos or quads!!! I have read alot on this processor and it must be very clockable!!! Some people claim to get it up to 4.0GHz!!!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a used Nvidia mobo that i had bought off of E-bay! The board crashed after installing the drivers so i bought another board; new this time!!! However i also bought a faster processor! But i love to build and this is one good processor for putting a great gaming system together; so guess what? It definately will not go to waste! For the price and clockability; it's a keeper!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat choice

Pros: Just made a budget build for someone ($400) and was very impressed with the speed of this chip, especially for the cost. Would definitely recommend

Cons: none that I can think of

Other Thoughts: Amazing that you can get this speed for this cost these days

Cons: i would save up and get a e8400 if you are planning on overclocking.
