Crush your enemies, climb the tower of paperwork -- or do both at the same time. Intel's Core i7 processor not only makes it possible, it makes it easy. The Core i7 950 has four cores that run at 3.06GHz and shares 8MB of L3 cache.

Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room without lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.

With Intel Turbo Boost technology and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, The Core i7 enables highly threaded applications or demanding applications to work in maximum speed without any extra effort. The 45nm Intel Core i7 processor is armed with Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Proc

Pros: Just about everything.
Fast
Stable
Dependable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got this in January 2011. Would still be using it but my MB (ASUS P6X58D-E) was getting behind the times and I needed more Sata 6 and USB3 ports.

Was the longest lasting computer I ever built.
Still in service with my son now.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years and counting!

Pros: A) Very very powerful
B) Well equipped for any task(gaming, editing, rendering)
C) Reliable, stable and dependable
D) Fast, and can get faster with overclocking

Cons: A) Stock cooler is not so great
B) Power hungry. This thing is a 130 watt cpu!
C) Forgotten and forlorn. No more motherboards made for it, and coolers are sometimes a chore to find for such an old socket.

Other Thoughts: I got this for a build around June of 2011. I put a Corsair H50 on it to keep this guy cool. I then paired it up with a GTX 480 and 12 GB of DDR3 and have never looked back. This thing even at stock speeds still holds up respectably compared to some of my friends' newer AMD or Intel based builds. Hyper threading has assisted in keeping this guy alive and practical in all my daily tasks. Getting an i7 has really proved to be an invaluable decision and cannot recommend them more to anyone looking to build a high end PC and wants it to stay near the top for a long long time.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Blazing!

Pros: Performs under pressure, at high temps and will chew up and spit out anything you throw at it. Well suited for overclocking, very forgiving.

Cons: Can get quite hot. Best used with a hydro/radiator cooler system.

Other Thoughts: I've had this beast for over 3 years, nearly pushed to its limits everyday with gaming and video processing. Still working like new. This processor will last long.

5 out of 5 eggsRunning strong 4+ years

Pros: Good speed, low heat, good energy rating.

Cons: Had to apply thermal paste over the processor but that happens with any

Other Thoughts: I've had this for over 4 years, it has been working very well for osx builds up through the most recent 10.9.4

5 out of 5 eggsSad sad day

Pros: Very fast - overclock capable with the right cooling and no lag even when running a game with two virtual machines running in the background (I'm a geek - do you really need to ask?)

Cons: It died after 4 years.

Other Thoughts: Sadly, my CPU looks to have died and this entire class of i7s (1st Gen) are no longer available except as used and they are priced way too high. So, let's have a moment of silence for my dead gaming system.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Dependable

Pros: Bought the Chip 2 years ago and still going strong. Have never had an issue with overheating (I played around with overclocking when I first got it and it was never an issue). I've primarily used it for gaming (easily handles everything I've played) but have also done some large data calculations using Maple. Outstanding job all around.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Even though this processor is "obsolete" it is still plenty fast enough for almost anything you'd want to do in 2013. With the reliability of Intel processors my next CPU purchase will definitely be from Intel (and NewEgg for that matter).

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I bought this chip 2 YEARS AGO and I still have yet to ever fully utilize it. Every game I play, every thing I do, it barely makes a dent in the CPU usage.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Great performance, very reliable.

Cons: None that come to mind

Other Thoughts: This has been a great processor now for over a year. I bought it when it had a price reduction due to not selling as it was the middle range in it's processor line. I love the performance. I have never strained this processor. I do some gaming and rendering and it handles everything I do with no hiccups.
