Crush your enemies, climb the tower of paperwork -- or do both at the same time. Intel's Core i7 processor not only makes it possible, it makes it easy. The Core i7 950 has four cores that run at 3.06GHz and shares 8MB of L3 cache.
Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room without lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.
With Intel Turbo Boost technology and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, The Core i7 enables highly threaded applications or demanding applications to work in maximum speed without any extra effort. The 45nm Intel Core i7 processor is armed with Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.

OUTSTANDING
- Pros: This is a GREAT CPU!!!!! I changed from the 940 to this 950 using my Gigabyte EX58-U5D and right off the bat at stock settings with the Intel’s Turbo on I’m running at 3.2. The standard 950 DO stepping multiple is 23 with the Intel's Turbo on the CPU runs at a multiple of 24. I tried a little overclocking up to 3.6, the 950 runs at a
lower voltage (1.216) with a BLCK of 151 compared to the 940 at (1.296) with a BLCK of 158 to get to a stable 3.6 overclock. The 950 does run a little warmer then the 940, I’m using a Thermalright True 120 which keeps my temps under control. At ideal the temps for my 3.6 overclock run between 30-33C CPU temp, and Core temps between 37-45C, under load with Prime95 my CPU temp is in the mid to upper 40C, with the Core temps running between the mid to upper 60’sC, this is at an ambient temp of 75F The 950 is easier to get a stable overclock then the 940 was. The 950 is FAST at stock, but overclocked it's BLAZING FAST.
- Cons: NONE
- Other Thoughts: I have no doubt that the 950 will soon be setting overclocking records for a CPU in this class.
Newegg ROCKS, keep up the good wok....
Game on!
- Pros: Fast.........! This thing running VMWare Workstation 6.5 and using a GTX285 graphics card, can play Half Life 2 (1440x1050) inside the VM with only the most minor of hiccups. Feels very smooth to play game on Vista Ult. 64 bit.
- Cons: Price! Hot idle temps (CPU 48C/Cores around 60C).

- Pros: like cooking with gas, installed fine,
- Cons: none
Very Nice!
- Pros: Very stable and easy to install, I was very impressed with the Heat Sink and Fan it came with, I ordered a Thermaltake Heatsink and Fan to use with it,but I decided to use the one that was sent with the CPU. It is very quiet and runs very cool.
This is my first Intel Build after building over 10 AMD Machines for myself I decided to go with Intel. Great choice!
- Cons: NON
Screaming speed.
- Pros: Fast!
Multiple cores @ 3.06GHz = massive bandwidth and fantastic multi-threading capability.
Great for a Graphics/CAD or Audio Workstation apps where you really need the extra CPU "muscle"
- Cons: Pricey...
- Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.
