5 out of 5 eggsStill Holds Up 3.5 years @ 3.8Ghz

Pros: overclocks like a charm, Runs at modest temps hyper212evo w/ HT enabled (prime95 70c hottest core idles at 41c game at 54c render at 69c) Passmark score of 6489. Overclocked chip 24hr stable with $70 gigabyte mobo 1 Ghz. Paid $179.00 in-store only deal.

Cons: more 775 mobos than 1156.

Other Thoughts: upgrading to 2011 this month. i-7 got me through 3.5 years of gaming/film editing/graphic design with no issues. Heavy usage running at 100% for hours a day rendering video this is a 12 hr a day computer workstation.

2 out of 5 eggsHad to Laugh

Pros: Not really sure after all this time.

Cons: I overclocked my old Athlon II X2 250 @4.05Ghz and ran the single core test on Cinebench 11.5 and it's SINGLE CORE score of 1.14 beat out this chip's 1.13 score @ stock 2.80Ghz LOL. Not too bad for a $60 chip.

5 out of 5 eggsBrave Little Lynnfield

Pros: Bought this in December of '09. Still running great to this date. Awesome overclocker, bumped this up to 4GHz with just 1.28v! Still holds its ground against Sandy Bridge in most day to day activities (gaming, rendering, etc.,)

Cons: Runs somewhat hot under full load. 50-60c

CPU is cooled with a Corsair H50 w/ GT AP-15's

Other Thoughts: i7 860 @ 4GHz

5 out of 5 eggsstill a beast

Pros: WEI rates it along with the memory at 7.5, never overclocked this thing.

Cons: It idles around the mid 40 degree celcius mark. I can't seem to get it to come down, and haven't ever used an aftermarket cooler.

Other Thoughts: This was my second pc build ever. Paired it with a GA-P55A-UD3R motherboard and 8GB of G.Skill DDR3 1600 memory (F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL).

5 out of 5 eggsIntel i7 860

Pros: Such a great cpu and it's still top of the line even after having it for 2+ years.

The new sandy bridge cpus really aren't much better then this guy.

Cons: None really, unless you consider it's a bit under-clocked.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I bought this CPU and I probably won't have to upgrade until 8 core's with 12mb cache's become the standard.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing processor

Pros: Very fast
Very easy to cool
Very low energy usage

Cons: If there are any disadvantages, I haven't seen them yet

Other Thoughts: This is the processor for my main gaming rig. I've played every game I've been able to get my hands on with it, and have yet to see it maxed out. It seems to handle anything I throw at it, while the temperature barely ever rises.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!!!!

Pros: I have this running at 3.6ghz with CoolIT ECO heatsink. This thing is a BEAST compared to my QX9300. Chews through Maya and UDK rendering/level build times. For 279 bucks and some overclocking you get the same performance of a 1,000 dollar chip. My entire computer runs fast and super smooth.

Cons: Not a big difference in my games but then again I am only running a 512Mb 5770 but in Fallout 3 there are ZERO load times. LFD/LFD2 and UT3 run super smooth and clean tho.

Other Thoughts: I can be doing a Mental Ray render in Maya with the cores @ 100 percent and still browse the internet. I used to have to go make a sandwich and take a break because my computer would be brought to its knees.
