4 out of 5 eggsCool Build

Pros: Good CPU choice for a power-efficient desktop. Integrated GPU helps on that score, although it's not for gamers.

Cons: CPU fan was fairly loud to begin with and getting worse.

Other Thoughts: Go ahead and ditch the fan/HS for a quieter, higher quality unit. The better CPU fans all require access to the back of the MB, so save yourself some time and irritation by using a better fan for your initial build.

5 out of 5 eggsworth the money

Pros: speed, while it's not a quad core this is the processor I had to go with having the built in graphics,

Cons: none for my application

Other Thoughts: while it's not a quad core this is the processor I had to go with having the built in graphics, and great speed

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good Processor. I picked this processor for a low wattage gaming computer, and I've been quite pleased with it. I run games and applications in a dual-boot Windows/Ubuntu setup and I haven't had any problems.

Cons: I've never liked the attachment mechanism on the stock Intel coolers, but they work fine.

Other Thoughts: Not overclocking, so can't comment on that.

4 out of 5 eggsA capable little brainiac

Pros: It works, it is easy to overclock yet remains cool and stable at 4GHz

Cons: Graphics are still not quite ready for prime time, had to add a dedicated card, which might be as much the fault of the motherboard as the cpu. I gave it as much Crucial DDR3-1600 as it can handle but it still goes too slow but it is better than any other integrated solution.

Other Thoughts: I recommend it, and hope iNtel continues to improve on the concept.

5 out of 5 eggsI660/i661

Pros: This is a good processor. It can handle most everything you can throw at it. I needed a cpu that had very good single threaded performance as well as multiple threads. Rarely (short of rendering) can you get this cpu over 50% utilization. Good power use. My system draws 60 watts at idle and maxes out at 100 watts total (no monitors) . I use the system for moderate to heavy general app use. Boots in 22 seconds, shut down in 7 seconds.

Cons: If you need to do a fair amount of video rendering that supports multicore threading, then a I870 would be better. This cpu chomps through rendering pretty well but 4 cores would beat it in this area.

Other Thoughts: Asus p7p55d
Win7 32bit HP
Sonata III with 500 watt PSU
4 gigs ram
ATI 5670
320 gig WD HD
Blueray player
Dual monitor 24"and 25"

5 out of 5 eggsFast, fast, fast!!!

Pros: It's Intel. True dual core with hyperthreading.

Cons: None whatsoever!!

Other Thoughts: Bought this locally on sale for less. Installed this in a new build using Gigabyte GA P55 USB3 board. Haven't O'clocked. (I'm not into OC) Stock fan and heat sink work fine. Just scrape off the factory thermal compound and use arctic silver ceramique instead. This is the coolest running CPU I've ever owned. Idles at 30C. Max temp under heavy gaming, at around 40C With all settings maxed This is way faster than my old C2D E6400. At this time, I couldn't really justify going to quad core until the core architecture gets smaller and the power demand goes below 95W. This runs all my games and programs blazingly fast, and runs very cool to boot!! I'm very happy I bought this chip!!

5 out of 5 eggsFaster than an e8400

Pros: Had an e8400 before this chip OC to 4.0ghz running at 500 FSB, and this chip blows it away.

Easy to OC, minor change in vore, running at 4.3ghz with bclk at 166, 26 multiplier. Runs cool with aftermarket heatsink (using corsair A50).

Cons: Stock heatsink and fan is a joke. Thought that my old Arctic 7 socket 775 cooler would fit, but after much struggle, found out that the 1156 and 775 socket is a couple mm different, thus wouldn't fit.

Had to slap on the stock heat sink, at idle was nearing 45C at stock speed. If there is a silver lining, it would be that Intel much improved the ease of install on the push pin design.

Integrated graphics imo is useless. If you are going to buy this chip, just spend a little more to get dedicated video card.

Other Thoughts: Not really a pro or con, but keep in mind this is a true dual core. For me, its great since all the applications I run is single threaded and being on XP still, but for applications programmed for 7 and multicore, would recommend to look into I5 750.

1st time to write a review. Since reviews help a lot when I am purchasing something, thought I would share my opinion to a potential buyer.

5 out of 5 eggsPainless

Pros: Works perfect. Painless install. You can't screw it up.

Woops, did you forget to install the cooler backplate on your board before you mounted it in the case? Well your in luck! Just install the CPU and your stock cooler mounts from the front of the board only! No need to remove the board!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: So easy a caveman could do it.

5 out of 5 eggsLightning fast

Pros: the overclocking on this is insane. ive hit 4ghz @ 35C. all stock cooler. 4mb cache is nice too. The built-in video isnt amazing, but it plays movies in high def without any problem.

Cons: for just a few more bucks u can get the 750, which is quad core and better in almost any category. But this is like comparing a bmw to a mercedes.
