OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
The Celeron E1600 from Intel is a great introduction to the world of 64-bit computing. Built with the Intel 64 architecture, it can handle all of today’s 32-bit applications and provide a bridge to tomorrow’s 64-bit world. The 800MHz FSB works with Intel’s Smart Memory Access to maximize data availability to the processor by pre-fetching data from system memory.

In today's digital world, multimedia is king. Intel’s Advanced Digital Media boost improves media performance in video, audio and editing applications. Pushing executions to 1 per clock cycle, performance is improved in two ways. The number of operations is doubled since it isn’t skipping cycles anymore, and with today’s faster processors, there are more clock cycles in a given time period.

Pros: I was easily able to overclock this to 3.0 GHz on a slow MB and the stock fan. The temps never got over 42C. Good processor for the money.
Cons: I dont think it does laundry.

Pros: Purchased this processor to build a HTPC, mostly used for streaming videos, music and surfing the web. Handled 720P and 1080P decoding with minimal CPU impact in Win XP.
Cons: This is not a gaming processor, but designed for applications with minimal processing required
Other Thoughts: Fairly quiet stock Fan

Highlights

newegg Intel Dual-Core Celeron Processor
The Intel Dual-Core Celeron processor delivers a balanced level of proven technology and exceptional value for desktop PCs. Based on a new energy-efficient microarchitecture, this Dual-Core Celeron processor enables smaller, quieter, and more capable desktop PCs.
newegg Intel Advanced Smart Cache
Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and improved performance.
newegg Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T)
Enhances next-generation IA-32 platforms with 64-bit addressability and related instructions, allowing flexibility for both 64-bit and 32-bit applications and operating systems.
newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST)
EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB)
Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
