5 out of 5 eggsi got mine!

Comments: well todays the happy day my northwood arrived, and its evrything i expected from it AWESOME! i installed on a biostar u8668d with 1.0 gig kingston ram, wet its new home with a tad of artic silver under a coolermaster aerolite and wahhhlaaa instant happiness this thing really blinding fast oc'ed to a very mild 3.2 for now til i see how temps and stabilty are but so far its running as cool as the celeron it replaced (34c-39c under load), this is the fastest 533mhz processor made, and even surpasses the new presscott in many applications even with the diadvantage of the smaller cache and slower fsb,it even exceeds performance of the 3.6 with hyperthreading active, pretty impressive chip...do read the link to toms someone pasted below, it tells the tale..the hyperthreading cut my dvd burn times in half were avg 20-25 mins rip to hd now 9 mins flat thats a real life improvement i can see,all programs load faster photoshop loads in nearly half the time, i ordered this friday and order didnt go thru til monday(my fault) and recieved on wed a mere 2 days in my hand!! newegg rules..after it burns in awhile at 3.2 and if all stays cool as it has so far gonna bump it up to 4.0 ghz and start saving for my asus vento box ;-)..this processor when introduced was a whopping $689 bux and newegg is one of the few places has them but i did see elsewheres cheaper(12 bux)and as high as $500 but it was worth it to know i had newegg behind me thanks newegg Adam Chains

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Great Performance. I had a prescott 3.0 @ 3.6 and this chip matched its benchmark @ 3.2! I've been running it OCed @ 3.4 without a hiccup in three months mem timing 2-2-2-5 0T (OCZ plat rev 2 pc3200). OC scalibility is pretty linear so pushing it too high doesn't make too much sense. However, b/c it runs so cool you can get a lot out of it from air done well. Don't beleive me though check published benchmarks - Northwood crushes Prescott socket 478 til 3.8 - 4.0. I have my system pretty well tweaked and traded benchmark's with my cousins FX-55 and I won overall with the processor - floating point advantage definately FX-55 - no surprise there. We were both shocked to see the 533 so competitive when overclocked chip and hyperaggressive memeory timings. Cheap Performance for old chipsets 845-865

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Definite noticible difference from a 2.7Ghz Celeron. Only complaint is it runs pretty warm. Make sure you have a good cooling system going on, not only in your case, but something good for the processor as well. Remember, no stock HSF with this. Still a good buy for the price

5 out of 5 eggsFastest 533Mhz FSB CPU

Comments: The Intel 3.06Mhz CPU is the fastest 533Mhz FSB CPU you can get. If you are looking to maxmize your speed without getting a new Motherboard, this is the CPU to get!

5 out of 5 eggs3 stars????

Comments: I was just cruising the site looking for deals and could not believe my eyes when I saw the rating this cpu was getting. I put one in my wifes computer about 8 months ago. Of the 3 computers in the house, it runs the coolest. If anyone is complaining about the performance gaming wise, perhaps they should take a closer look at their video card, and spend a couple of bucks. The HT sets it above the pack. The demand must be high since I actually paid a bit less for it 8 months ago. TRY IT...YOU'LL LIKE IT.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I thought I missed out on this upgrade because it disappeared for a while, but it seems newegg found a secret basket of these and I'm so glad they did. Like other people, I'm trying to get the max from my motherboard and this processor is the last that it will support. This was an upgrade from a 2.0ghz. It has a 23x multiplier and I 've been able to get the FSB to 149 stable - that's 3427ghz!!! Not bad for the last hurah on my MSI 845PE MAX. Newegg has a nice little gem here for those with older mobos trying to get the most before upgrading the board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade for 533fsb boards

Comments: I got the reatail version from Newegg w/hs fan, and I am very happy , I upgraded from a 2.4 Ghz Celeron and this thing blows it away , no more Lagging in Joint Ops online, I OC'ed it to a modest 3.1 Ghz with no issue at all it idles at 30deg c with Intels HS/Fan , it is may not be the latest and greatest but I cant stop smiling , Thanx Newegg...

5 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

Comments: <a href='http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20021114/p4_306ht-22.html' target=_blank>http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20021114/p4_306ht-22.html</a>

just see the link.

i've built systems with this chip all winter, now finally one for myself. i may post my o/c results here, but then again, this isn't an very friendly oc chip and i do plan to pair her with an 850e board. and rambus 1066 doesn't oc well at all. i may buy a 845ge or pe to testbed, along with my vapochill system... i think an p4 2.26c oc's best. maybe i'll share my results.

anyway, 5 star chip. fastest for the heat. build a whisper silent system that flies for under 2k.

booohahahaha. athlon loyalists are stupid. it's all about the computer, not the brand name. right now this is the best performing chip. 1700+ is the best chip for price efficiency. thank God for the option. this is a great age to be a geek.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's fast

Comments: I built one of these for a friend. It's impressively speedy and temps stay in the low 40s during video coding and editing. I use nuthin but AMD cuz I'm a cheapskate, but This processor gives a huge amount of bang regardless of the buck. If it was mine, I'd overclock, but it ain't. Maybe in a year or two. Incidentally, you ever notice how when people talk speed, most talk gigaherz, and totally forget about cache? My father's P-3 512K cache smokes my 2200+ AMD and several of my friend's P-4s. He's also using DDR-2 512 meg sticks. gee, go figure. It ain't just speed, its also supporting components and cache. His has 512K cache. This 3.06 has 512K cache. Hmmmm. Shop wisely-shop newegg.
