4 out of 5 eggsIntel Pentium 670

Pros: It's a top end Prescott core processor with a great clock rate and nice L1 and L2 caches. It is able to multi-task and single-task very well. As for gaming its a great processor if you aren't running the top of the line system which most of us aren't.

Cons: The heat off this processor could fry eggs... Take my advice and buy a Heatsink for this processor cause the stock will leave your computer running at almost burning tempratures. I bought the Zalman 9500+ but the 7700 I believe works just as well. The processor for it's price is still a bit expensive considering that it isn't dual core. To I guess draw the final blow for the same price you can get AMD's 4000+ for cheaper... I haven't owned one but I hear they run about par.

Other Thoughts: I bought this at the time cause it was the only processor I could find that fit my video card and wouldn't bottle neck it... At this point in time I'm moving over to a dual core AMD system. I love both Intel and AMD each has it's own purpose... If your a good gamer and looking to blow the cache either go Pentium D or AMD X2... The new dual core technology will help you in the future and is great for rendering. In my opinion buying the extreme edition and the fx editions of both AMD and Intel are both a little too extreme since the D and the X2 are able to reach the same speeds with the same dual core... But hey it's you money not mine... Best of luck with your buy.

5 out of 5 eggsIt CAN be cool!

Pros: It flies! Great for Intel-gamers. This with my 2 7800gtx 512's, I play games at almost full settings with no bottleneck!

Cons: The stock heatsink fan is useless, as with all Intel CPU fans.

Other Thoughts: Everyone says that this cpu runs really hot, and I agree. So finding a high-quality Heatsink and a case with good airflow. I have this in a Thermaltake Kandalf case and am using the ASUS Silent Square CPU cooler. The result= 28C idle/38C load with minimal noise. When I overclock to 4.2ghz, the temps run at 42c idle/48c load. Not bad for a non-watercooling system!

5 out of 5 eggsThe CPU

Pros: The CPU is blazing fast. Whoops Intel Pentium D or some of the other Dual Cores, right in the keester! But keep in mind there are alot of perks to this cpu. If Overclocked Its faster then almost anything i know for how much that is spent on this. Very fast faster then some of my Dual Core's. Get Liquid cooling and you'll be hitting home runs for a good year or 2. This chip can handle Nicer cards at higher vid settings. Make sure you moniter your heat!!!!

Cons: Tends to run alittle hot for the speed. Sorta expensive for super gamers. Most people would rather spend 600 for 2 7900 Gt's and run super game graphics.

Other Thoughts: Drop the stock cooler. And buy some nice decent Liquid cooling. It may cost quite alot but you'll love the fast core. I use it for Fear and other games. Also Video Rendering. Its fairly powerfull for how much is spent on it.

2 out of 5 eggsrefund please

Pros: Chip works well.

Cons: dont use standard CPU fan heatsink or it will heat up above 120 degrees. You definitely need to be very knowledgeable on cooling. So scared i amgoing to turn on my pc one day and it will not work 600 is a lot to shell out for a hot CPU

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Run great, and despite most accusations, it runs cool not hot.
They probally say it runs hot because they overclock it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Can run any game out there with ease.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable warp speed

Pros: This processor is so fast it is almost freaky. It runs cool (dump the stock cooler though) with the right kind of HSF. It was a breeze to install. I recommend Artic Silver 5.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Many do it yourselfers are having heat issues with LGA775 package processors.
Intel clearly indicates in their paperwork that this can happen if you don’t use a liberal amount of thermal paste. The top surface of the processor is a housing that is not necessarily totally level or flat. You must use enough paste to ensure that any possible voids are going to be filled once you lock down the HSF. The old methodology used for 478’s and older was to make the thinnest possible layer of paste. You can’t safely do this with the LGA775 processors.

5 out of 5 eggsHey, look...no spelling errors...full sentences too!

Pros: It's fast, it's reliable, and since it's a 775 it's very easy to install.

Cons: If you're not seriously on point with your cooling, it WILL run hot (and it might even overheat). I have a copper heat sink/fan and silver paste on mine, five other high performance fans in my case, and it usually runs at about 50-55 degrees Celsius under a good solid load. The cooling fan that comes with it is not even an option; get something with a better conductor of heat and a more powerful fan.

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking this chip is a prime candidate for liquid cooling...I'm sure I'll be going that route soon.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't listen to over heating reviews

Pros: Very fast, stable, and reather cool. YES I SAID COOL. I get 39 C idle at 4.2Ghz.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is an extremely fast processor. It doen't over heat at all, if you install it properly. Same goes for the Pentium D.

Please don't listen to the reviews that say that this product, and others like it over heat too much. They don't. If you ibtall it properly, and have an air duct with a fan for the cpu, then you will get ~35 C idle and 45-50 C load temps. The poeple that claim these CPUs run too hot either never had one and just read the reviews of other retarts, or they are just 12 year olds macking believe they know what they are talking about.

Newegg should limitt reviews to items only to the people that had acctually purchased one.

Cons: Price...

Other Thoughts: installed with zalman led 9xxx copper heatsink with artic silver 5. still idles in mid 30C's rarely reaches 50C when under gaming loads. Never reached warning level of 55C.

2 out of 5 eggsIntel

Pros: none i can see

Cons: heats the room real well.I'll stick with my X2 AMD running at 90 degrees F at full tilt on the stock heatsink and fan, even though it comes with copper fins and heat pipes.
