5 out of 5 eggsGood for the Money

Comments: Yes, although this proc is hot, the BTX heatsink can provide adequate cooling. Now to the performance: this thing ROCKS! It has superb multitasking. I was playing burning a DVD, using the Internet, downloading monstrous files, and using Word all at the same time with minimal or no slow down. It has a SysMark 2004 overall score above 200. It is an awesome proc. So if you want BTX and dual core, this is the way to go. (the Pentium D 840 and Extreme Edition are not as worth it.)

5 out of 5 eggsHot Mama!

Comments: This processor could cook eggs. I recently purchased with a 995 board and its idling at 50c even with a side intake and 120 mm fan on back running full speed. When playing games it quickly shoots up to 65+ Noisy fan on the processor. These processors definately need to start coming with tubed heatsinks (I plan to purchase one very soon) However, it is more than fast enough to handle anything you can throw at it, so I give it four stars. I just think that intel needs to start releasing hot surface warnings on their processors, or go into the stand alone space heater business!

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: This particular version is different from its less costly counterpart because it includes a BTX heat sink (as opposed to an ATX). The heat sink fan is a MONSTROUS, I don't think I'm going to need a 3rd party cooling unit because of the BTX layout. If you'r considering going BTX just make sure you have a BTX compatible case and motherboard otherwise the heat sink and fan unit will NOT work for you. I just built a BTX system with this processor and intel's D945GCZr mobo from Newegg and its great.

5 out of 5 eggsD830 for Intel's Micro BTX SFF motherboard

Comments: I am building a SFF system and will use this 830-series P4 for BTX with Intel's D45GCZLKR "Executive Series" Micro BTX board. BTX blows ATX out of the water, in all respects, BTW. However... the good folks at Intel should be let out of their lab cages more often for a little weekend R&R, so they can come up with product names a little bit sexier than "D45GCZLKR." ;-))

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Yes, this is the BTX model. The difference is the cooling hardware that comes with it (designed for BTX form factory mb's and cases). Correction to the previous reviewer: the Smithfield core cpu's require a 945 or 955 intel chipset on the motherboard.

Comments: This CPU is ONLY for INTEL mobos D915GMHLW and D915GMHLK with the 915G chipset per Intel.

5 out of 5 eggs...FT is BOXED as BTX

Comments: Actually, there is no difference in the product. The FT is boxed for the new BTX mobos with the chip up front for cooling. It's like the difference between retail and OEM, only here between two different retails.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Why is this one more expensive than the same exact thing on New Egg. Two EXACT same products.. one is in a vertical box and one is in this, horizontal box. Vertical box is much cheaper than this one. ????
